The ‘Slutbot’ Was Created To Teach People How To Sext

0

Sexting is tough, yet it’s a practice that’s growing more popular due to the nature of our relationships. It makes sense then that there’s an app out there trying to teach us the proper etiquette for it, hopefully making the whole experience less taboo.

Slutbot is the first of its kind, an SMS experience designed by erotic writers and sex educators meant to build your confidence and sexting capabilities. The prices of the app are steep, $29 a week for daily coaching or $99 if you prefer to pay once a month. However, the sex bot, just a text away, is free for all to experience.

Via Juicebox:

“We worked with sex educators and erotic fiction writers to create a safe space to practice talking dirty and provide you sexting examples as inspiration. ?”

According to the developers of Slutbot, the app is meant to be a fun and informing experience, spreading a message of consent and awareness. “We even talked to a linguist to help us code all of the appropriate words. There are so many different ways you can say ‘yes,’ ” says Brianna Rader, one of the creators of Slutbot. She is also the CEO of Juicebox, another app that specializes on providing relationship and sex advice to users.

Like most modern apps, Slutbot is customizable, adapting to all genders and sexual orientations. It has two levels of sexual intensity:”hot & heavy” and “slow & sensual.” Developers claim the most popular setting is the former, which makes sense. People’s answers are anonymous, allowing them to let their freak flags fly with no concerns.

Although the app is new and no data has been gathered, Slutbot sounds like a great idea, giving newbies the chance to experience a new form of sexual experience and giving them tools that can be used in their real life relationships. Sexting with an AI is also another layer to the whole sex with robots discourse, a phenomenon that we’re discussing more and more each year.

Netflix Is Publishing A Magazine To Advertise Their Programming

0

Just when you thought magazines were dead, Netflix is dipping its huge toe into the business. Don’t get too excited, though. For now, the magazine won’t be available for purchase.

Bloomberg reports that Netflix’s magazine will focus on promoting its TV shows and movies ahead of this year’s Emmys. If there’s any success to this marketing strategy, you can expect to see more of them come official awards season.

The first publication of the journal, which is officially called Wide, will be made up of over a 100 pages of essays, interviews and features about the creators behind different Netflix series and programs. The magazine will be distributed for free and it plans on making it easier for Hollywood to access the company’s unbelievable amount of content.

“In preparation for a groundbreaking year in film and television, Netflix has gathered some of the most talented and sought after writers and photographers, thinkers and creatives, to make the inaugural issue of Wide, the Netflix print journal,” explained Netflix in an email.

Last year, the company released over 700 TV shows, documentaries, comedy sets, animation and movies. The one thing they’re still looking for is award recognition and to finally get rid of the “internet” brand that permeates their content, alienating it from traditional film studios and networks that have been around for longer periods of time.

The first issue of Wide is expected to roll out this June.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Doesn’t Eat On Weekends

The CEO of both Twitter and Square, @jack, recently sat down (we assume he didn’t have the energy to stand) for a taping of the Ben Greenfield Fitness: Diet, Fat Loss and Performance podcast and revealed some of his intense health habits. Sure, he mediates and journals, but he also doesn’t eat. You read that correctly.

At a time when #SelfCare is trending, Jack Dorsey is taking it a step further. He revealed that he not only walks 10 miles roundtrip to work every day, or working under an infrared lightbulb to work up a sweat, but he has taken intermittent fasting to the next level, because the dude skips food all together on the weekends.

RELATED: This Is How Much Time The Average Millionaire Spends On Social Media

During the week, he eats a single between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m..

“During the day, I feel so much more focused… You have this very focused point of mind in terms of this drive,” Dorsey told Greenfield, adding that his sleep also improved with the meal changes and that the extra time he saves by not eating during the day allows him “to focus more on what my day is.”

From Friday night through Sunday, the fun really begins, because Dorsey avoids eating, consisting of only water.

The first time I did it, like day three, I felt like I was hallucinating. It was a weird state to be in. But as I did it the next two times, it just became so apparent to me how much of our days are centered around meals and how—the experience I had was when I was fasting for much longer, how time really slowed down.

Don’t try this at home, kids. Your body needs fuel, just like anything else that expends energy. Just Tweeting alone requires some calorie intake. Right, Jack?

5 Tips To Help You Understand Your Metabolism

Your metabolism is among the most misunderstood and complicated parts of your body. It’s also much maligned by fitness gurus, magical weight loss programs and more. This term is vast and refers to the chemical processes that occur within us to keep us alive. Nowadays, the term is mostly used to discuss all sorts of weight issues.

Vox compiled a list of facts to help you understand your metabolism, its role and limitations. Here are 5 of the most important and useful ones.

Your metabolism exists in every cell in your body

RELATED: Why Maintaining A High-Protein Diet Can Be Dangerous

Researcher Michael Jensen explains that your metabolism is not a single thing but a series of mechanical processes. In it, each cell in your body transforms calories into energy, keeping you alive and able to do things. Your basal metabolic rate measures the amount of calories you burn while at rest. Half of this rate is consumed by your major organs – including your brain, heart and liver, and the other half is consumed by your muscles, fat and digestive system.

Metabolism varies widely from person to person

https://giphy.com/gifs/chrissy-nancy-odell-mEqMknMZWh1Fm

Two people of the same gender, height and weight can still have vastly different metabolisms. This phenomenon is not completely understood by physicians, although there are a few predictors of how a person’s metabolism should be. Your age, gender, genes, and amount of lean muscle and fat tissue are all important factors. Most women tend to have slower metabolisms than men, with their menstrual cycle having some influence.

Growing older slows down your metabolism

https://giphy.com/gifs/season-13-the-simpsons-13×13-l2JdU7e38RqzdlakU

No matter your body type and weight loss patterns, by the time you’re in your 60’s your metabolism will be slower than when you were in your 20’s. This decline in metabolism rate can start pretty early in life, with some people reporting changes as soon as they’re 18 years old.

You can’t speed up your metabolism

RELATED: Do Any Of These 5 Bizarre Fad Diets Actually Work?

Diets, foods and workouts that claim to boost your metabolism aren’t backed by much science. Coffee, spices, and chilis that speed up your basal metabolic rate still don’t have much of an effect, being unable to affect your weight. What could improve your metabolic rate would be to build up muscle and lose a percentage of your body fat, since muscles use more energy than fat while on a resting state. Still, the more muscle you have, the more your body will demand for food, so it’s quite a complicated and mysterious dance.

Dieting can slow down your metabolism

https://giphy.com/gifs/hyperrpg-twitch-hyper-rpg-TDJX3kU4qedsutQ3PZ

Crash diets and drastic weight loss programs can slow down your metabolism for long periods of time. As you begin to lose weight, your body starts to fight this change, causing rebounds in weight, especially in cases where the change was too big. “Weight gain and loss are not symmetrical: The body fights much more strongly to keep weight from dropping than it does to keep weight from increasing,” explains neuroscientist Sandra Aamodt.

Oprah Says Meghan Markle Is ‘Being Portrayed Unfairly’; Kim Kardashian Is Studying To Be A Lawyer

Kim Kardashian Is Studying 18 Hours A Week To Be A Lawyer

A new profile of Kardashian in Vogue reveals that last summer, months before her meeting with Trump, she embarked on a four-year apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm. She plans to take the bar exam in 2022. Not only that, she’s continued to work on prison reform by visiting prisons, the White House and state officials, such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

While Kardashian didn’t finish college — she attended Pierce College in L.A. — California and three other states allow people to practice law after completing an apprenticeship with a judge or practicing lawyer and passing the bar.

“The White House called me to advise to help change the system of clemency,” Kardashian told the magazine, “and I’m sitting in the Roosevelt Room with, like, a judge who had sentenced criminals and a lot of really powerful people and I just sat there, like, Oh, s***. I need to know more. I would say what I had to say, about the human side and why this is so unfair. But I had attorneys with me who could back that up with all the facts of the case. It’s never one person who gets things done; it’s always a collective of people, and I’ve always known my role, but I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society. I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.”

She ignored people who told her to stay out of it, and there were many.

“I made a decision to go to the White House when everyone was telling me, ‘Don’t go, your career will be over; you can’t step foot in there.’ And I was like, ‘It’s my reputation over someone’s life?’ Weigh that out. People talk s*** about me all day long. It will just be another story about me versus someone getting their life back.”

Kardashian certainly won over Jones, who spoke highly of her performance during the Johnson meeting with Trump.

“Kim understood that [Trump] needs to be seen as taking on the system, and she helped him to see that there are people who the system was against and that his job was to go and help them,” Jones said. “And it was remarkable. So for people who have fallen for this media caricature of the party girl from ten years ago who hangs out with Paris Hilton? This is the daughter of an accomplished attorney and the mother of three black kids who is using her full power to make a difference on a tough issue and is shockingly good at it.”

Oprah Winfrey Says Meghan Markle Is ‘Being Portrayed Unfairly’

Oprah Winfrey doesn’t like how Meghan Markle is being treated by some in the press.

The media mogul appeared on “CBS This Morning” Wednesday to talk about her new partnership with Prince Harry, but she also spoke to co-anchor and best friend Gayle King about the Duchess of Sussex.

“I think she’s being portrayed unfairly,” Winfrey said of Markle. “I feel that if people really knew her, they would know that she is not only everything you perceive her as being ― graceful and dynamic in holding that position ― but that she just has a wonderful warm, giving, funny heart.

She added: “I see all the crazy press around her, and I think it’s really unfair.”

King, who attended Markle’s star-studded baby shower in New York City, added that the duchess is “very kind.”

You Can Lose Weight By Having Sex And Here’s How

Having sex isn’t such a great workout on its own, assuming you’re like most people who report only burning 100 calories at best. But did you know that, thanks to hormones, your appetite is suppressed after you do “it”? Here’s how to lose weight by having sex.

https://giphy.com/gifs/sexy-wqKYPX3oUUrn2

According to Medical News Today, men participating in a study burned on average 101 calories and women 69 calories when they had sex. The average intensity was higher than walking but lower than jogging.

At the lower end, men burned 13 calories and women 11.6, while at the top of the range, men shifted 306 calories and women 164.

While the average duration of foreplay, intercourse, and orgasm was 24.7 minutes, the actual time the couples spent having sex ranged from 12.5 to 36.9 minutes.

The data doesn’t explain how vigorous (or quick) the sex was, but it doesn’t take a doctor to conclude that if you want to lose weight by having sex, you’ll need to approach it like an Olympic athlete. Either go for the gold or don’t go at all.

https://giphy.com/gifs/MjcUR7bHAVHgs

But the “love hormone” known as oxytocin, which is produced in the hypothalamus and our gastrointestinal tract, skyrockets when we orgasm. But also, according to Dr. Elizabeth A. Lawson of the Neuroendocrine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston :

…experiments in rodents, nonhuman primates and humans consistently show that oxytocin reduces caloric consumption.

The bad news here is that oxytocin doesn’t stay in your systems long after sex, which means you’ll only experience less than 10 minutes of a sex haze appetite.

The moral of this story is that if you want to lose weight by having sex, have more of it and make it intense. That way, you’ll reap the benefits of both the cardio and the lagging appetite. It’s basic math. Bon appetite!

Topical CBD: The FDA Stance On Hemp Derived CBD In Cosmetics

In the last few weeks, two major drugstores publicly announced that they will start carrying products containing hemp-derived cannabidiol (“Hemp-CBD”). Both CVS and Walgreens announced that CBD topicals would be available in their stores, in a select number of states. Notably, both drug store chains limited products to non-ingestible topicals.

Dr. Scott Gottleib, the outgoing head of the FDA must have heard the news because on April 2 the FDA issued new guidelines on Hemp-CBD, updated its marijuana and hemp FAQs online, and sent a new round of warning letters to distributors of CBD products. Gottleib himself took to Twitter to chime in:

https://twitter.com/SGottliebFDA/status/1113130081210302465

The FDA has long held that Hemp-CBD cannot be added to food or dietary supplements because of the Drug Exclusion Rule. The FDA’s position is that the Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act (“FDCA”) and underlying FDA regulation do not allow articles approved as drugs to be used in food or dietary supplements unless they were marketed as such prior to public investigations into that drug. CBD has been investigated and approved of as a drug (Epidiolex) and that is the basis for the FDA’s determination. The FDA has also focused on prohibiting companies from making any type of health claims about Hemp-CBD as such claims cause the FDA to classify that product as a drug.

RELATED: Going Postal: USPS Provides Guidance On Mailing Hemp-CBD

Prior to the April 2 guidance, the FDA had side-stepped the issue of Hemp-CBD in cosmetics, unless those products were deemed drugs based on the way they were marketed (e.g., “this CBD cream cures cancer”). That is no longer the case as the FDA has updated its cannabis FAQs to include this question: What is FDA’s position on cannabis and cannabis-derived ingredients in cosmetics?

fda cbd topicals

Before looking closely at FDA’s answer there, it’s important to understand how the FDA defines cosmetics. Cosmetics are “articles intended to be rubbed poured, sprinkled or sprayed on . . . or otherwise applied to the human body . . . for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering appearance,” except for soap which is classified separately. 21 USC 321(i). Unlike food and drugs, cosmetics and ingredients in cosmetics are not subject to pre-market approval. For cosmetics, the FDA relies on consumer complaints to monitor the industry. There has been a push for years for Congress to change laws to give the FDA broader jurisdiction over cosmetics. That hasn’t happened yet.

Though cosmetics aren’t regulated as tightly as other products, the FDA still has regulatory authority over them and their ingredients. For example, color additives used in cosmetics are generally subject to premarket approval. Additionally, the presence of a harmful ingredient in a cosmetic causes the FDA to deem that cosmetic adulterated. The FDA has determined by regulation that some ingredients cannot be used in cosmetics. For example, if a product contains chloroform (other than in trace amounts) it is deemed adulterated. According to the FDA’s FAQs, CBD does not fall into this category:

Certain cosmetic ingredients are prohibited or restricted by regulation, but currently that is not the case for any cannabis or cannabis-derived ingredients.

The story doesn’t end there though. In addition to ingredients that are prohibited by rule, cosmetics are adulterated if they contain “any poisonous or deleterious substance” which could harm users. The FDA’s FAQs take a look at this as it applies to cannabis:

Ingredients not specifically addressed by regulation must nonetheless comply with all applicable requirements, and no ingredient – including a cannabis or cannabis-derived ingredient – can be used in a cosmetic if it causes the product to be adulterated or misbranded in any way.

In other words, just because an ingredient is not prohibited per se doesn’t mean it’s safe for its intended use.

RELATED: FDA Issues More Guidance On CBD Products

Let’s also take a look at what makes a cosmetic “misbranded.” The FDA will deem a cosmetic misbranded if it is labeled in a false or misleading way, does not bear required labeling information, or is made or filled in a deceptive manner. This is true for all cosmetics, including those containing Hemp-CBD.

The bottom line is that all of these cosmetic regulations were in place before April 2. Companies selling Hemp-CBD cosmetics should have been aware of the regulatory environment before entering the industry. Are the FDA’s recent comments significant? Of course! It is important to carefully track whatever the FDA says and does with regards to Hemp-CBD. But it’s also important not to overreact. The FDA has not determined that the presence of Hemp-CBD makes a cosmetic adulterated or misbranded. That may change in the future, but I for one don’t think it will. The CBD-infused toothpaste is out of the tube and the FDA knows it.

Florida & DeSantis Bungling Medical Marijuana Program Again

You’d think the Sunshine State would’ve learned its lesson by now. But Florida legislators find themselves amidst another battle with marijuana advocates over tinkering with the delivery methods over medical marijuana. This week the House pushed a bill that would place a THC cap on smokable marijuana for patients, which led to “fiery exchanges with veterans and patient advocates who accused a legislative leader of relying on faulty research,” according the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. So Florida and Governor DeSantis are bungling their medical marijuana program again.

Republicans were in favor of the bill while Democrats opposed it, reports Marijuana Business Daily. Despite the pushback from Dems, advocates, and veterans alike, the House Appropriations Committee approved the measure nonetheless. As a result, it’s headed to the House floor for a vote.

RELATED: THC Benefits That Have Nothing To Do With Getting High

The plan revolving around a THC cap comes on the heels of legislators lifting the ban of smokable marijuana for medical patients less than a month ago. That ban resulted in a years-long controversy for the state, which included multiple losses in state courts, and only ended thanks to newly-elected Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis demanding legislators do so.

But it appears history will repeat itself in the Sunshine State, as politicians hold the line on misinformed agendas. Rep. Ray Rodrigues invited what is sure to be a new controversy for the state government after basing the new bill (HB 7117) on research that claimed cannabis with less than 10 percent THC still helped patients and other studies that suggested higher levels of THC would induce psychosis in patients.

“There’s absolutely science that shows the product of medical cannabis that’s 10 percent or less of THC is helpful for medical conditions. I’m a believer. I was an agnostic on that when we passed the constitutional amendment. I’ve studied the science, and I’ve been led to believe that absolutely there’s a benefit from that,” Rodrigues said prior to the committee vote.

However, the Sun Sentinel reports that “scientists who work for one of the state’s licensed medical marijuana operators dispute the findings in the research cited by Rodrigues.” For example, the study revolving around cannabis inducing psychosis didn’t hold as much scientific weight as mainstream media headlines might’ve claimed, which we’ve previously explained here.

RELATED: Use Cannabis To Forget Fears And Overcome PTSD

Such a THC cap could further drive illicit black-market sales, opponents of the measure also argued. While the bill would provide free medical marijuana cards for veterans in an attempt to sweeten the deal, Jimmy Johnston, a veteran and president of the North Florida chapter of Weed for Warriors Project, argued it’s a carrot being dangled that would only save vets $75 a year.

“A bill that was supposed to be about helping a community that is plagued with drug addiction and drug overdose … a bill that was supposed to be about helping a veteran community that is plagued (with) suicide is now being used as leverage by lawmakers to try and impose their will on the people,” Johnston said.

All Disney World Restrooms Have This Odd Thing In Common

Mirrors have played an integral part in Disney movies: “Snow White”, “Little Mermaid”, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Alice in Wonderland”, to name just a few. Which is why it’s odd that mirrors don’t exist in Disney World bathrooms.

https://giphy.com/gifs/funny-magic-mirror-8L5VfOn2lEQUg

There are several theories as to why this is.

One, it’s expensive to install big mirrors in the theme park’s massive amount of restrooms. Two, nobody wants their vacation ruined by seeing how sweaty and windblown they look after getting off a ride.

As this article so bluntly puts it, “They say people who don’t keep full length mirrors in their house are happier. I guess Disney takes this a step further and takes away all the mirrors so you are blissfully unaware that you look like a troll. I forgot I was fat for a whole week!”

Three, no mirrors equal quicker moving lines. And four, vandalism, which is an issue at all theme parks.

RELATED: Here’s Why There Are No Mosquitos At Disney World

As this former theme park employee explains: “The mirrors in the restrooms at Universal Orlando were massive, covering most of the wall over the sinks. It costs thousands of dollars just for the mirror, not including the labor involved to remove the old and install the new. It’s just not an expense that is worth the money.”

All of these reasons are why you’ll likely only find a large mirror inside near the entrance of the park. And why you’ll likely see an uptick in women carrying compacts.

New York State Stalls Major Cannabis Mergers

New York State’s Department of Health that oversees the medical marijuana program has yet to approve three outstanding proposed acquisitions. The three deals include the MedMen Enterprises Inc. (MMNFF) acquisition of Pharmacann, The Green Thumbs Industries (GTI) acquisition of Fiorello Pharmaceuticals and the Cresco Labs Inc.(CRLBF) deal with Valley Agriceuticals.

It had looked like New York was fast-tracking full legalization this year, but then at the last minute, cannabis funding was not included in the Governor’s budget. It looked like adult use marijuana was pushed off to another year. Then Governor Cuomo said that wasn’t the case and that in fact, negotiations were continuing. As all the back and forth continues, these companies have to wait patiently for the state to figure out its next moves.

RELATED: New York State Only Pretends It Wants Diversity In Cannabis Companies

The Department would only say in response to questions, “The New York State Department of Health is currently reviewing MedMen’s formal merger request with PharmaCann, which they submitted in January. The Department initially denied requests from Valley Agriceuticals/Cresco and Fiorello/GTI. Both have recently resubmitted their requests, which are currently under review.”

A GTI spokesperson said, “The transaction is still in regulatory review and we expect an answer in the near future.” MedMen and Cresco have preferred to stay mum on the situation. Although it seems the Pharmacann acquisition has been approved in all the other states, leaving just New York to green light the deal.

MedMen had announced its deal back on October 11, 2018, and said at that time that the resulting pro-forma company was anticipated to have a portfolio of cannabis licenses across the U.S. that would permit the combined company to operate 76 retail stores and 16 cultivation and production facilities.  MedMen is expected to add licenses in Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Virginia, and Michigan as a result of the deal.

RELATED: How Gov. Andrew Cuomo Might Legalize Marijuana In New York

Cresco had stated in a filing that on October 24, 2018, it had entered into a definitive agreement to merge a subsidiary with and into Gloucester Street Capital, LLC, the parent entity of Valley Agriceuticals. Valley Ag is one of the ten holders of a vertically integrated license from the New York State Department of Health. To date, the only material asset of Valley Ag is the vertically integrated license from the NYSDOH. Cresco said it had expected the closing to occur in the fourth quarter of 2018 or the first quarter of 2019.

Fiorello Pharmaceuticals, also known as FP Wellness, is licensed in New York state only. It is privately owned. The company lists its partners as The Clinic, Plant Consulting Group and LIU Pharmacy on its website. A report in the Daily Gazette said Fiorello Pharmaceuticals is building a medical marijuana production facility in Glenville and plans to open other dispensaries in Monroe, Nassau and New York counties. Green Thumb Industries or GTI (CSE: GTII) (OTC: (GTBIF) ) has plans to acquire FP Wellness, according to a company spokesperson.

The Buffalo News reported that there are two issues holding up the adult use legislation. The first is that Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes, who introduced the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act in 2013, “has insisted that half of the tax revenue should go toward reinvesting in communities that have borne the brunt of the war on drugs.” It seems the Governor is on board with this, but the tax revenue is estimated to be $300 million and he has also said he’d like to use some of that money for infrastructure projects like fixing the transit maintenance issues.

The paper said that the other issue was regarding the licenses and how to award them. The original five licensees have not made any profits and then the program was expanded to ten licenses. This group wants first dibs on recreational licenses in order to recoup their investments. The state, however, seems to be eyeing substantial license bidding fees that could potentially cause the only female-owned medical marijuana Etain to go out of business.

The state has been facing criticism that the program is heavily tilted towards corporate cannabis with no diversity except for Etain. This could be why the acquisition approvals have been stalled.
