Kathy Griffin Reveals Her Mother Has Dementia

In a recent Instagram post, the comedienne shared:

As heartbreaking as this is, I feel the need to share some important info about my mom Maggie. I’ve always been honest with you all, but this one is really hard.

The pic below, taken in September, was the last time I was able to have a proper/coherent conversation with her.Since that photo was taken, she has rapidly fallen into the throes of dementia.

This is never easy for any child, I know this is a reality that millions of people deal with every year. But when it comes to my mom this is particularly hard because her sharp mind was everything. My mom is 98 and up until this past couple years she was so sharp she always kept me on my toes.

Her mind was so naturally quick, funny, and smart. No one could get anything past her. Watching that slip away so fast has been devastating.I want to assure you all that she is not in pain and she is getting the best 24-hour care. In terms of how she is now, at this point she only knows my name and I love you.

I know many of you know what that reality is like…I’m still grappling with it. A big reason I’m sharing this news with you is that so many of you have asked why I haven’t posted a video of Maggie & her beloved dog Twinkle in the past few months.

Now you understand why we haven’t been able to share anything, here is a moment between them from this summer. What I am most proud of when I comes to My Life On The D List is that show gave me the opportunity to show the world how naturally funny my parents were.

When people tell me they feel like they know my mom, I always respond “you do!” She never put on a show, she was the show. If you ever met my mom and asked for a photo, you should know it was a pleasure as much for her as it was for you.

She loved making people happy and making people laugh. And trust me, I know she was the bigger star…thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving us a lifetime of memories.

Coming Soon: Everything You Need To Know About Las Vegas Cannabis Lounges

Las Vegas, Nevada—a picturesque and vibrant city filled with unique attractions, endless gambling, partying into the late night and early morning, and recreationally legal cannabis. If this description resonated with you at all, you may be a Vegas regular or someone who craves fun social experiences where the party never stops. Despite cannabis being recreationally legal in Nevada, the city is home to millions of tourists annually. Specifically, on a yearly basis, around 42 million tourists make their way out to Las Vegas, and most of these travelers have no options regarding where to legally smoke cannabis. As a result of this problem, Tick Segerblom, one of Nevada’s legislature decided to step in and push for the legalization of cannabis consumption lounges. Although this proposal has been in the works for a while now, it’s looking like cannabis consumption lounges will be legal at some point this year.

Growing Demand for Cannabis Consumption Lounges in Las Vegas:

Currently, cannabis is medically and recreationally legal in Nevada, and the state’s recreational cannabis market has significantly boomed in just one year while raking in millions of dollars. Whether you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas, Reno, or Burning Man in the future, if you’re at least 21 years old, you can legally purchase various cannabis products at licensed Nevada dispensaries. However, it can be tricky to find a place where you can legally light up a joint or bowl without worrying about getting fined or arrested.

Due to the significant success Nevada’s cannabis industry has experienced thus far, there’s a growing demand and interest in the establishment of legal cannabis smoke lounges. Since August of this year, Las Vegas officials have been putting effort into opening Nevada’s first cannabis lounges. Their initial goal was to open them by the end of this 2018 year, but now it’s looking more like early 2019. The cannabis lounge proposal that has been brought to lawmakers’ attention calls for the following:

-Hookah-style lounges

-Legal quantities of cannabis being consumed by individuals aged 21 years old and up

-Lounges must be located and operated next door to a legal licensed dispensary

Despite having to follow these requirements, hypothetical cannabis lounge owners wouldn’t have to attain a state cannabis establishment license.

Must-Know Details about Nevada’s Cannabis Consumption Lounges Proposal:

In addition, Tick Segerblom has been trying to convince state lawmakers to approve of cannabis consumption lounges in unincorporated Clark County and the Las Vegas Strip for quite some time. He has made progress, but changes are still being made to the initial cannabis lounge proposal. For example, the first draft mentions that the lounge owners would be permitted to sell various forms of cannabis paraphernalia including bongs, pipes, bowls, lighters, and joint and cigarette papers. The only products that lounge owners cannot sell are all cannabis products.

Then, as expected, there are other requirements that cannabis lounge owners would have to meet in order to legally operate once this proposal passes. One requirement is that customers who visit and smoke within the lounge cannot be seen by the public. In other words, if the lounges have already existing outdoor patios or rooftops, cannabis cannot be smoked there. Also, lounge owners would be allowed to charge customers a cover fee. It’s also likely that lounge owners would be allowed to serve food if the food doesn’t contain any cannabis, according to the content of a new ordinance.

Additionally, it would be legal to serve alcoholic beverages if they contain less than eleven percent alcohol in volume and only be served in a separate room from the smoking area. Currently, it’s still unclear as to if Nevada will cap the amount of cannabis lounges that can open. On the plus side though, more than twelve cannabis license holders have expressed their strong interest in opening a cannabis lounge after the state ordinance is officially complete.

Recent Efforts Made to Raise Awareness and Momentum About Cannabis Smoking Lounges:

At this time, Nevada state law doesn’t clearly give permission to the opening of cannabis consumption lounges. However, the effort that Tick Segerblom has put into this proposal recently is noteworthy. In one letter addressed from Legislative Counsel, Brenda Erdoes to Senator Tick Segerblom, Brenda mentioned that cannabis lounges would be allowed on a local level. However, this would only take place if cannabis wasn’t used unlawfully.

In general, though, this past year, a significant amount of progress has been made regarding this proposal despite a couple of delays mid-year. Thus far, two public workshops were held by city officials to discuss the cannabis consumption lounge proposal further. In the midst of Nevada’s delay with the cannabis lounge proposal, both San Francisco and Denver opened their own cannabis consumption lounges. Segerblom took this as a sign to observe what did and didn’t work with San Francisco and Denver’s cannabis lounges so certain aspects could be applied to Nevada’s future cannabis smoking lounges.

In early November, Segerblom and seven other Nevada legislators in the form of five representatives from Nevada’s state assembly and a North Las Vegas councilman traveled to San Francisco on a one-day fact finding tour to observe and learn from the dos and don’ts of their cannabis lounges.

Segerblom expressed his interest in San Francisco’s system, and he wants to use it as a template for future Nevada cannabis lounges. He went on to express the following statement regarding his desired involvement in this project: “I want to be involved in drafting the ordinance. The goal is to get these pot lounges up and running, get marijuana out of our casinos and hotels, and get it off the streets.”

Next Steps Regarding Future Legalization of Cannabis Consumption Lounges in Nevada:

Furthermore, Segerblom’s main goal is to open legal cannabis lounges on the Las Vegas Strip and in Southern parts of Nevada. However, approval is needed from state authorities first. Then, before any official decisions are made by Nevada lawmakers about this proposal, Clark County commissioners will keep waiting to receive guidance from the 2019 Nevada Legislature. If this proposal goes through, Nevada would be the very first U.S. state to legally license cannabis consumption lounges.

In the near future, Las Vegas will become a well-known social cannabis consumption hub if all goes to plan with the state’s cannabis lounge proposal. On a nationwide scale, there’s an increasing demand for cannabis and CBD. However, the demand is at an all-time high in Las Vegas, and cannabis consumption lounges will only bring in more tourists, good vibes, and lots of revenue. If cannabis consumption lounges opened on the Las Vegas strip next year, would you check them out?

Canadian Airlines Is Instructing Passengers How To Fly With Marijuana

Last year, Transport Canada revealed that airplane travelers will be allowed to fly with cannabis in their cargo. This, of course, included a few stipulations. Among them: carry-on rules still apply for liquids, Canadians must be traveling to a domestic destination, and they couldn’t exceed 30 grams of cannabis on their person, which is the legal amount for personal use in Canada anyways.

But now, WestJet is giving Twitter recommendations to its Canadian passengers on how to fly with weed. WestJet is the second-largest Canadian airline carrier with service also extending to the United States, Europe, Central America, and beyond. Still, it’s rather odd to witness a major airline instructing passengers how to pack their stash properly.

Actually, what renders most odd here is WestJet’s inclusion of customs and immigrations. As Transport Canada has made clear, it’s not legal for Canadians or foreigners to transport cannabis across the border, if when traveling to a destination where cannabis is legal like Colorado. To be exact, this is probably WestJet’s social media manager giving out these recs, but that person still represents the company’s official public position.

RELATED: There’s A Free Weed Bin At The Toronto Airport

A little digging also reveals a similar position stated on the company’s website. You can find the below text in a section advising passengers how to travel with certain medications, including medical marijuana.

WestJet does not require notification or documentation if you intend to travel with medical marijuana; however, local security, customs and immigration may have additional requirements, and may not recognize a guest’s authority to possess this drug. Penalties including fines, imprisonment or other criminal sanctions may apply.

The company’s website also repeats the advice of packing cannabis in an airtight container and allowing 30 extra minutes to clear security. But it also includes this line about unexpected diversions in flight plans: “It is your responsibility to ensure you are safely and legally transporting or possessing your medication, for all points in your travel, including unexpected stops in locations for a flight diversion.”

RELATED: Will Canada Change Drug Policies At Federal Workplaces?

The subtext is clear: If your domestic flight has to cross the border into the United States, and cannabis is found on your person, WestJet is not liable for any penalties you may incur. Canada’s transport minister warned that international passengers must abide by their country of destination in an interview with Global News.

WestJet also joined Air Canada last year in banning cannabis usage for employees in “safety-sensitive positions,” even when those employees aren’t working. A spokeswoman revealed that cannabis is being treated differently than alcohol for those employees, as guidelines stipulate those in “safety-sensitive positions” not consume alcohol within 12 hours of starting their shift.

That Time Louis CK Told ‘SNL’ Producers That Pete Davidson Smoked Too Much Weed

Louis C.K. probably needs to hire a new crisis management firm at this point. Following his admission of sexual misconduct in 2017, C.K. vowed to reflect and reassess his role in committing these acts and the unequal power dynamics at play. While quiet for several months after his admission, everything C.K. does seems embroiled in controversy. From dropping into random sets at the legendary Manhattan comedy club, the Comedy Cellar, to recent jokes about the Parkland shooting survivors and transgender pronouns that recently surfaced online.

Well, Pete Davidson, everyone’s favorite stoner comedian, heard about C.K.’s set and was none too pleased. Davidson fired back during  “a killer stand-up performance at Boston’s Chevalier Theatre,” as US Weekly describes, on New Year’s Eve.

RELATED: Elon Musk Finally Admits ‘I Have No Idea How To Smoke Pot’

“I got a ‘Harry Potter’ tattoo,” Davidson said. “Then the next day Alan Rickman, the guy who played Snape, died and I was like, ‘Oh, what a weird coincidence.’ Then I got a Willy Wonka tattoo. Next day — Gene Wilder dies. Now I’m like, all right, that’s a coincidence, that’s weird. So I’m thinking of getting a tattoo of Louis C.K., what do you guys think? That joke used to be about Aziz Ansari, but Aziz has been nice to me recently.”

Davidson then revealed that when he was trying out for “Saturday Night Live”, Louis C.K. warned producers against hiring because he smoked marijuana. When C.K. hosted SNL for the fourth time in April 2017, which was during Davidson’s first year on the show, he “told all the producers in front of me that all this kid does is smoke weed and he’s gonna smoke his career away,” said Davidson.

RELATED: Pete Davidson Discusses Marijuana And Borderline Personality Disorder

Davidson added that C.K. told Lorne Michaels, SNL’s showrunner and executive producer, “that Pete smokes so much weed that it makes people uncomfortable.”

“Then five years later this motherfucker’s been locking doors and jerking off in front of people,” Davidson concluded.

Regardless, it doesn’t appear that SNL hates marijuana quite like Louis C.K. apparently does. Considering drugs have been an integral ingredient in SNL from its origins, especially cannabis, we can’t say we’re surprised.

Could Minnesota Legalize Marijuana In 2019?

Incoming Gov. Tim Walz has been paying attention to all the cannabis legalization going down in the U.S. and believes that it’s high time Minnesota joined the ranks. Aside from seeing it as a good source of new revenue, Walz doesn’t want to see any more people arrested and/or locked up over a plant.

As a congressman, Walz encouraged the Department of Veterans Affairs to study medical cannabis. Now he says with utter optimism, “I just think the time is here and we’re seeing it across the country. Minnesota has always been able to implement these things right.”

RELATED: First Steps: Minnesota Wants Recreational Marijuana

However, legalization is never a one-man show, it takes a community. The Minnesota legislature is split between democrats and republicans now, but that may not be such a bad thing. Cannabis, though more celebrated on the left, is still not a partisan issue. Countless republicans see it as a safer alternative to alcohol and hard drugs, simply see it as an herbal remedy or also don’t like seeing people unnecessarily incarcerated.

The temperature seems to be heating up though. Tom Gallagher, who is a criminal defense attorney serving on the board of NORML said, “In Minnesota, the people want it already. A lot of politicians would rather not be bothered with it. We think this is a very important issue because people are sitting in prison just rotting away, the families are wasting away without their family members. They’re not making money, they’re not paying taxes, we think it’s very important.”

RELATED: Marijuana Legalization Would Eliminate Drug Smuggling Better Than Trump’s Wall

Gallagher also noted a Gallup poll showing that over two thirds of the people support legalization. That doesn’t mean they don’t have a hard row to sow, though. An amendment would have to be approved by legislature in order to make it law.

As of now, 10 states and the District of Columbia have legalized cannabis while 33 have medicalized the herb. Marijuana is talked about on the news daily and has become a mainstream issue. It’s not that it’s just close to time for Minnesota to flip over to the green side of life, it’s a matter of when the rest of the states are going to follow suit. When, not if.

Drake Unfollowed Kim Kardashian On Instagram; Times Square Alliance Rips Andy Cohen Over Umbrella Entitlement

Drake Unfollows Kim Kardashian on Instagram Amid Kanye West Drama

Drake has unfollowed Kim Kardashian on Instagram.

The move came after Kanye West demanded a public apology from the rapper for following his wife on the social network.

“Who’s bright idea was it to tell Drake to follow my wife on Instagram?” he wrote on New Year’s Eve in one of his since-deleted tweets, adding they’re not friends. “I don’t have beef with no one,” he continued. “Love everyone but don’t follow my f–king wife on Instagram. Ima focus on my family And you keep my family out of all of this wrestling foolishness.”

The demand came just a few days after West had learned about the follow and had publicly called out Drake for the move.

“I never knew till this morning that Drake followed my wife on Instagram back in September,” Kanye tweeted in a since-deleted post on Saturday. He later added that he “had to bring this up because it’s the most f–ked up thing of all.”

“Imagine having a problem with somebody and they follow your wife on Instagram,” he wrote at the time. “We truly wish this man the best and pray that he will find the same happiness that we have.”

Beyonce & Jay-Z are totally fine, so don’t even worry about them

Beyoncé and JAY-Z are ending 2018 on a good note. Following her lavish trip to India to perform at a concert during the wedding festivities for Isha Ambani, the daughter of India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, Beyoncé and her family spent Christmas on the east coast, a source tells PEOPLE. To bring in the new year, the Carters have traveled to Los Angeles.

Times Square Alliance schools Andy Cohen over umbrella entitlement

The Times Square Alliance told Page Six, “It has been our policy that umbrellas are not permitted on the media riser so as to not interfere with media colleagues’ sightlines. There were over 100 credentialed members of the media and 15 live broadcast camera spots on the media riser this year.”

“We don’t monitor this issue on other stages that are stand-alone with no other networks present, thus no potential for other camera shots to be blocked.”

“Some tempers flared, but it was never the case, nor will it be the case, that CNN would be denied credentials or the ability to cover New Year’s Eve.”

5 Reasons You’re More Dateable In January

0

If you think it would be nice to have a significant other to cuddle up next to by the fire, you’re not alone.

Online dating apps heat up during the first part of the new year. The billion-dollar industry increases from 20 to 60 percent, depending on which app you use.

According to MarketWatch:

Dating app Zoosk typically sees a 20 percent jump in users in the first two weeks of the year and eHarmony sees a similar increase in mobile registrations since the holidays, both companies said. Grindr, an app for gay men, usually experiences a 30 percent to 50 percent increase in users over the holiday season. Match.com IAC, +1.15 percent sees a 60 percent surge in new members between Christmas Day and Valentine’s Day. Sign-ups on OKCupid, also part of IAC Corp., spike by almost one-third.

Why the surge immediately following the holidays? Here are 5 reasons.

1. Time With Family

Nothing makes you appreciate romance more than time spent with family. According to Mark Brooks, editor of Online Personals Watch, “Many singles sit around the family dinner table during the holidays and think, ‘Maybe it would be better to have a partner.’ That’s when they start hitting dating sites in droves and go on dates before the indigestion sets in.”

2. Social Media

The onslaught of happy holiday pics on Facebook and Instagram can be depressing for singles, who might feel more pressure — either from themselves or society — to find romance.

3. Boredom

Whenever there’s a large number of people off work at the same time, dating apps see an influx of users.

4. Inclement Weather

What better way to pass the time when you’re stuck inside during freezing temps than by trying to find someone to help keep your warm.

How To Know It’s Time To Share Marijuana With Your Parents

Many cannabis imbibers grew up during times when cannabis was stigmatized, pretty much across the board, and was compared and categorized with hard drugs like heroin and crack. Parents were strict back in the day and if one was a youthful toker, they likely didn’t share it with their parental units.

That doesn’t mean that the folks never tried it themselves, though, and the potential is there that with all the legalization going down, the science coming up and stigmas falling by the wayside, that they may have not only opened their minds, but perhaps have returned to or started up with the plant you’ve been so careful to not mention at the dinner table.

RELATED: How Marijuana Can Actually Make You An Even Better Parent

If you’ve been experiencing this kind of tension for years or if you just want to be able to talk freely with your family, there’s a good chance that the time has come. Especially if you suspect that the rents are ingesting cannabis themselves. Perhaps it’s even time for you to break out your stash and have that first sesh as an adult with them.

Approach gently. Cannabis is such a hot topic these days that there’s bound to be a topic for you to springboard off. From new local laws to the recent passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp in the U.S. once again, broach the topic from a non-personal point of view, explore legislation and get a feel for the room.

If you’re met with stony silence, don’t go for the family sized joint you prepared in advance. Instead, keep the conversation positive, talk about the benefits of cannabis and let it go if things get weird. If you’re a die-hard weed activist, you may want to keep pushing, but just know that pulling out paraphernalia in that type of situation isn’t going to end well for anyone.

RELATED: A Guide For Talking To Your Teens About Marijuana

If the conversation flows, however, and it sounds like they have been paying attention to all the big news stories on cannabis, the industry and continued expansion, start the potential smoke session alk with some questions, like, “Did you smoke pot in college?” “How long has it been?” And the big one, “Do you want to try it with me? I think it would be a good bonding session for us…”

It may get nervous in there if it’s been years since the parents tried marijuana, so don’t push if the initial answer is “No,” or “Not yet.” You’ll have planted a seed and will have certainly made for an interesting conversation after you leave for the day. If you do get through and the sesh goes down, kudos! You’ve broken into a new form of communication and enrichment with your parents and your interactions moving forward from that day on.

Likelihood & Ramifications: Canada Wants To Classify CBD As A Health Supplement

Medical cannabis has been legal in Canada for well over a decade. This past October, it was federally legalized, thus, making it recreationally legal. However, cannabis-infused edibles are currently illegal in Canada, whereas, they’re legal in many U.S. states. Despite cannabis-infused edibles being illegal in Canada, they’re moving towards categorizing Cannabidiol (CBD) as a natural health food product alongside other vitamins. The progress Canada is making in this specific area is vastly different than that of the U.S. though, especially after the U.S. FDA recently made their stance very clear about the treatment of CBD-based products. Keep reading to learn more about the likelihood of legal CBD-infused health food products in Canada, America’s stance on treating CBD as a health food product, and potential changes that could occur in the future.

Current Legality of CBD-infused Health Food Products in Canada:

Overall, CBD is viewed and treated as a natural medicinal and therapeutic substance by numerous Canadian consumers, physicians, and even lawmakers. Regardless of this support, not long ago, it was illegal for CBD to be in a food product or natural health food product in Canada. According to Health Canada, before cannabis was federally legalized this past October, products containing CBD were deemed illegal unless they were approved for medicinal purposes. Now that recreational cannabis is legal, products containing CBD are regulated like traditional cannabis products.

RELATED: The Only CBD User’s Manual You Need

Currently, cannabis-infused edibles remain illegal in Canada. There have been many ongoing discussions about cannabis edibles with most of them focusing on recreational edibles rather than medicinal ones. Due to cannabis-infused edibles’ benefits and the work of Canadian activists, it’s likely that Canada will make cannabis-infused edibles legal in the future. The country also plans on eventually allowing different dispensaries to sell cannabis edibles.

In general, though, the Canadian Health Food Association is primarily focused on the medicinal and therapeutic benefits of cannabis edibles. Their focus is the same about CBD-infused health food products as well. This led to the Canadian Health Food Association recently reaching out to the government about lessening CBD restrictions, which is very different than the current situation in the U.S.

Legality of and Stance on CBD-infused Health Food Products in America:

In America, various physicians, researchers, and lawmakers understand and support the usage of CBD for medicinal and therapeutic purposes. When it comes to cannabis-infused edibles though, they’re legal in certain U.S. states based on their designated cannabis program. This is one major difference between Canada and the U.S. However, an even larger difference is how CBD is viewed and treated in each North American country. For instance, Canada is moving in the direction of treating CBD products as health supplements and eventually allowing for the sale of CBD health food products. Whereas, the U.S. is far from moving in this direction.

In addition, cannabis remains a Schedule I illegal substance in the U.S. The plant is very complex, especially because it contains various cannabinoids including CBD, which is completely non-psychoactive, non-toxic, and non-addictive. Since CBD is beneficial for people’s health and well-being, numerous individuals believe it should be treated as a dietary supplement or vitamin. To this day, throughout the U.S., numerous head shops, health food stores, and independent health & wellness clinics sell various CBD products as dietary supplements. Unfortunately for the sellers, this is technically illegal.

RELATED: Study: Patients Are Dumping Traditional Medicine For CBD

Although CBD has been deemed as an extremely safe substance by the World Health Organization, the U.S. FDA has been cracking down on companies that market and advertise different CBD products. The FDA has also made it clear that all CBD products aren’t included in the category of legal U.S. dietary supplements. Then, various warning letters sent out from the FDA to companies that market CBD as dietary supplements spoke volumes about the FDA’s stance on CBD. To provide some clarity about CBD being treated as a dietary supplement in the U.S., the FDA expressed that CBD products aren’t included in the category or definition of dietary supplements because CBD is the main topic of various public clinical investigations.

Necessary Steps to Make CBD-infused Health Food Products Legal in Canada:

Now, let’s transition back to Canada and their growing efforts in this area. Fortunately, different provinces, states, and entire countries are starting to accept the medicinal value of CBD-infused products, especially Canada, which has led to regulations that align with the acceptance of CBD.

Over the years, Health Canada has held conversations about permitting natural health products and health food products to contain CBD. For this to become a reality though, natural health products sold in Canada must meet these requirements:

  1.      Safe to consume as over-the-counter products
  2.      Don’t require individuals to have a prescription before purchasing them

If CBD ends up being regulated as a natural health food product, the cannabinoid would have to undergo strict guidelines and testing. Additionally, before a natural health product is approved, it must fulfill these criteria: accurate information and evidence about its effectiveness, safety, quality, and reasons for usage. According to Adam Gibson, other necessary steps would consist of the following:

“Then, after it is approved, you also have monitoring for adverse drug reactions, there are requirements to report that, and that gets put into a common system. So, you can monitor for drug-drug interactions, and develop that really robust system around health products.”

Health Canada also explained that the verdict of how a drug is classified as a prescription or not is assessed by its potential risks. The organization went on to mention that they need additional information about the cannabinoids’ safety and efficacy to determine dosage limits and other thresholds. The intention of this would be to distinguish which products are prescriptions and which ones aren’t.

The Frequent Growth of Canada’s CBD Market:

Moreover, Brightfield Group conducted a recent report, which stated that the CBD market is expected to surpass the cannabis market. Specifically, the CBD market will likely reach $22 billion USD by 2022. The demand for CBD-based products is huge, and it’ll only increase from here. Overall, the Canadian natural health industry is ready to get more involved with CBD. They’re aware of the growing demand for products containing this cannabinoid and CBD’s plethora of medicinal, therapeutic, and nutritional benefits.

So far, it has been projected that CBD-infused health food products and other natural health products will be available at many Canadian establishments including the shelves of various grocery stores and pharmacies. Thus, other businesses besides strictly regulated dispensaries will eventually get a piece of the Cannabidiol success pie.

Likelihood of the Legal Sale of CBD-infused Health Food Products:

As a result of CBD’s array of benefits, Health Canada has experienced pressure to change the classification of it. A lot of this pressure came from the Canadian Health Food Association, in particular. If Health Canada approves of CBD-infused health food products, Cannabidiol would be placed in the same category as Vitamin D, echinacea, and other health supplements.

Additionally, Trina Fraser, an Ottawa Canada-based lawyer believes that CBD-infused health food products will be sold at Canadian drug stores and pharmacies in the years to come. Once CBD-infused health food products are approved, the Canadian CBD market will significantly boom. Not only will pharmacies receive a green light to sell CBD-infused natural health products, but also drug stores, clinics, and possibly convenience stores.

RELATED: Ask The Doctor: What Makes CBD So Useful?

Overall, CBD-infused health food products would need to gain pre-market approval from Health Canada first. If they do gain approval, it’s likely that many Canadian grocery stories, pharmacies, clinics, and drug stores will be able to legal sell these kinds of CBD-based food products. Then, Cannabidiol will be treated the same as vitamins, echinacea, and other health supplements.

From here, it’s possible that other countries like America will follow suit and regulate CBD as another natural health food product. But first, the U.S. FDA would have to move cannabis and CBD out of its Schedule I classification and reduce restrictions on the cannabinoid. Stay tuned to find out when Health Canada approves of the legal sale of CBD-infused health food products and the progress America may make in the future!

California Renters’ Dilemma: What To Do When You Can’t Smoke In Your Own Home

In November, the property manager of MiraBella Apartments in Palm Springs sent a memo to the residents: “We have been noticing recently that the smell of marijuana has become increasingly noticeable on the premises of MiraBella,” wrote Kevin Millard, the complex’s community director. “We have also been receiving complaints from many residents about the smell of marijuana.”’

The letter went on to say that exceptions to the non-smoking rule would be considered for medical marijuana card holders. However, the buzz-killing memo is a harsh reminder for renters in California that even though weed is legal, it’s still not tolerated in many locations, especially those being rented out.

Seventeen million people rent in California and it’s guaranteed that a large percentage of them use cannabis. Some leases are simply no smoking, but others aren’t tolerant of any usage. Of course there are always tinctures, edibles, salves and even quickly dissipating vape pens with which to fly under the radar, but sometimes a toker simply wants their flowers.

All in all, it’s about not disturbing the neighbors. Some cultivars of cannabis have extremely strong aromas and not everyone is down with the skunky, diesel smells of dank ass marijuana. And the last thing an apartment building wants is a mass exodus of non-smokers when their leases are up. It’s understandable, but still smacks of unfairness. Cannabis is legal. The People have spoken. And it’s just another reason why smoking lounges are necessary all over the place in legal states.

For now, apartment dwellers in California would do well to keep their usage on the down-low. Being loud and proud can get one evicted in the worst case scenario, and even with dank edibles to assist, moving is no joke and you won’t have a good recommendation for the next place. The smartest thing to do is keep your cards close to your chest when renting in a non-smoking habitat when you’re a cannabis imbiber.
