Can Gummies Bring Down Election Anxiety

Tensions are high, but can hemp, CBD, or cannabis gummies help you relax – especially with microdosing?

The American Psychological Association recent poll should 69% of American’s are experiencing anxiety about the election. Compared with the previous two presidential elections, stress related to the 2024 election was slightly higher than in 2020 (69% vs. 68%) but significantly higher than in 2016 (52%). Stress related to the current election appeared to be driven, in part, by the potential consequences from the election results.  The barrage of news, memes, friends complain is making it hard on people’s mind and body. Can gummies bring down election anxiety?

Anxiety can cause feelings of fear, dread, or uneasiness, and can make it hard to concentrate or make decisions. People with anxiety may also feel irritable, tense, or restless, and may have a sense of impending danger, panic, or doom. Not only does it leave you feeling miserable, it can interfere with your job and relationships. A short term solution may come from the cannabis plant. Can gummies bring down election anxiety?

Studies have shown the cannabis plant can help with a variety of medical ailments, including anxiety. A Johns Hopkins Medicine-led research team has added to evidence that a chemical found naturally in cannabis (also known as marijuana) can — in the right amounts — lessen the anxiety-inducing effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive sister chemical found in cannabis.

The cannabis plant produces marijuana (with THC), CBD, and hemp. Studies show all can help with anxiety at some level, but is dependent on dosage.  Microdosing a new trend to provide a very low dosage to take off the edge but to stay focused. Most gummies are either 5 or 10 mg. A microcode would be between 2.5 – 5 mg.  So a half or third and you can avoid the “high” while reducing the anxiety and moving into a better state of mind.

Marijuana Gummies

Marijuana gummies are a way for adults to cope with anxiety. But you should start with a low dose as you want to have a calming effect with out the extra bells and whistles.  Consider 2.5 mg and see how it goes from there….and recognize it will take 45 minutes to an hour for impact.

CBD Gummies

While some CBD gummies products promise and don’t deliver, Epidiolex is the only FDA-approved prescription CBD medicine, which among many things, means that it has a safety and efficacy profile that has been thoroughly evaluated in clinical trials. CBD doesn’t have the THC high as with marijuana so this would completely avoid any high. It is also a popular aide to sleep issues.

Other ways to reduce anxiety during this time is to focus on what you can control and what positive actions you can take. it is also important to set boundaries with how much information you will consume (including social media) and the conversations you will have.  Mostly, try to focus on things which help you relax.

US Territory Puerto Rico And Cannabis

It is a popular tourist destination as part of the US, but what about consuming cannabis there?

Over 5 million people travel to Puerto Rico each year, the island territory of the US is popular with tourists. Beaches, outdoor adventures, good food and sun are always a popular draw and it is considered a safe and easy destinations. Millions of American’s have visited, but as the US embraces marijuana, what about US territory Puerto Rico and cannabis?
Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States as a result of the Spanish-American War in 1898. In 1898, the United States went to war with Spain and invaded their colony Puerto Rico on July 25, 1898. It has been under Spanish rule for over 400 years.War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris with Spain ceding Puerto Rico to the United States, along with other territories like Guam. After the war, Puerto Rico came under direct U.S. military rule for about two years. In 1900, the U.S. Congress passed the Foraker Act, which established a civilian government for Puerto Rico and officially designated it as an “unincorporated territory” belonging to the United States.  It has some benefits of the US, but not a formal voice in the Congress.

The locals have nothing against fun, the national drink of Puerto Rico is the Pina Coloda. Made with local rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. It’s often made without rum so that everyone can enjoy it. Also, 85% of the population identifies as Catholic, a faith that doesn’t mind some wine.

Like the mainland US, Puerto Rico enacted legislation banning cannabis in 1932, making it illegal to plant, import, purchase, or sell marijuana. The prohibition remained in place for decades, with attempts at decriminalization failing to gain traction. In 2013, a proposal to decriminalize cannabis was met with significant public opposition, with 70% of those surveyed against the idea.

A major shift occurred in 2015 when Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla signed an executive order permitting the use of medical cannabis. This was followed in 2017 by the passage of Act 42-2017, officially legalizing cannabis for medicinal purposes in Puerto Rico. The medical cannabis program established regulations for:

  • Licensing of dispensaries, cultivators, processors, and caregivers
  • Safety protocols including product testing and labeling requirements
  • Taxation of cannabis sales to fund social programs and education initiatives

While smoking cannabis remains prohibited, other forms of consumption are permitted for approved medical conditions. Recreational use of cannabis in Puerto Rico remains illegal. Possession is considered a crime with some type of punishment.

However, in 2015 the governor advised judges not to imprison defendants caught with less than 6 grams of cannabis, indicating some leniency for small amounts. Despite its illegal status, marijuana remains one of the most commonly abused illicit drugs in Puerto Rico

Does Marijuana Have Any Sway In The Election

It has become not only accepted, but popular – but do people care about cannabis when they vote?

Since 2016 cannabis has began slowly legalizing across Canada and the US. Recent research says almost 90% believe it should be legalized.  Additionally, California Sober has become a thing, beer sales have flattened and even AARP has joined esteemed medical organizations saying cannabis should be recognized for the health benefits. States are reaping huge tax revenue, but the industry is still struggling without some type of federal recognization. But does marijuana have any sway in the election?

Top concerns of voters include the economy, healthcare, the Supreme Court and abortion, with over 60% of voters considering them very important. And although cannabis consumers use is generally seen more of a democrat habit than republicans, a number of repubicans are fans. Some larger influencers in the industry have been staunch supporter of the GOP nominee.  A recent poll found 42% of Republicans and GOP-leaning independent favor legalizing marijuana for both recreational and medical compared with 72% of Democrats.  Florida governor Ron DeSantis is struggling to prevent an expanded cannabis ballot initiative passing in Florida.  But do voters really consider marijuana when choosing?

While the industry is full of bros who believe they have influence over the election and congress, the numbers don’t add up. It isn’t a make or break issue for most voters. Biden delayed any action on marijuana, despite his promise in 2020, until the last part of this term.  Because of this, even if he manages to push things through with the Drug Enforcement Administration, it will be 2025 before any help comes. The GOP nominee’s has come out in support of the Florida initiative against his old foe DeSantis, but leaders in his party are against any legal form of marijuana. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has made it very clear cannabis is a no go.
A recent YouGov poll revealed , voters trust the Democratic nominee to handle cannabis laws (27 percent), compared to the GOP candidate (20 percent). But more Trump supporters say marijuana issues are important them (17 percent) than Harris supporters (11 percent).  It could mean older conservative believe the GOP will reverse marijuana trends.

The good news is alcohol is a major partner of cannabis having invested over $13 billion in the industry, and they have a longer term relationship with Congress.  Constellation, one of the largest players of spirits, wine and beer, made $22 billion in revenue last year compared to the $33 billon the entire marijuana raked in.

Does the industry have a say in the election, absolutely via support, donation and campaigns.  But on average, marijuana is not a major issue for most voters.

Boysober Is A Rising Trend, Is It Right For You

Boysober is a surprising trend in the dating world – is it right for you?

It seems the “swearing off things” continues to be a trend. First came Movemeber in 2003 where guys didn’t shave and grew mustaches, then Dry January, then California Sober (where you stop drinking and just use marijuana) and now comes Boysober. What is it? It is a deliberate break from dating and focus on personal growth and self-discovery. A hard fact is if you aren’t happy and comfortable with yourself, it makes being in a relationship extra difficult. The term was coined by comedian Hope Woodard when she decided to take a break from various aspects of romantic pursuits. Since then, boys over is a rising trend, is it right for you?

Gen Z is struggling in the dating area.  They are the generation to use dating apps the least. They are also struggling with flirting, a skill honed by trial and practice. This is leading to them having the most anxiety of any generation.

But for anyone, embracing the boysober can offer numerous personal advantages. It provides an opportunity for self-reflection and development. The goal is by focusing on oneself can boost confidence and self-worth and allow you to build better relationships. Taking a break can help individuals better understand what they truly want in a partner and what they might need to give.  Comprise is a key part of all relationships. It can reduce stress and anxiety associated with dating pressures and boost self esteem.

Boysober Is A Rising Trend, Is It Right For You

To start Boysober, it is key to abstain from various aspects of romantic pursuits The core principles of going “boysober” include:

  • No dating apps
  • No dates
  • No exes
  • No situationships
  • No hookups

This trend is not about swearing off relationships forever, but rather about taking a purposeful pause from the often exhausting and sometimes toxic world of modern dating.

Several factors have contributed to the rise of the boysober movement. The leader is dating app fatigue. Many users, particularly women, report experiencing harassment, abuse, and disappointment on dating platforms. The constant swiping and superficial interactions have left many feeling burned out and disillusioned.

Additionally, younger generations, especially Gen Z, are reevaluating traditional notions of relationships and finding fulfillment in other aspects of life.

There’s a growing emphasis on prioritizing personal needs and goals over romantic pursuits. This shift reflects a desire for self-improvement and healing from past relationship traumas. If you are comfortable with yourself, it is easier to to be in the give and take in a relationship and grow together with someone.

Fun Ways To Celebrate Halloween With Marijuana

Halloween is a great time of year for tricks and treats…but if a little marijuana is your treat, maybe you should watch true horror movies.

Halloween is here and the next week will be filled with parties, ghosts, and more.  So why not  add in some cannabis to the festivities?  Almost half the population with celebrate in some way, even if it just enjoying all the candy!  While alcohol has been a big player for parties and celebrations, cannabis is become more popular, especially with Gen Z and younger Millennials.
Older generations can remember the old myth of people giving out edibles to kids, and yet it was never proven or had an example. Especially with the cost of edibles now!  But with the California Sober movement, more people are using vapes, gummies and old school joints. Here are fun ways to celebrate Halloween with marijuana.

The first is enjoy a little chill time with the following strains or an event with a few people to  do a ghostly “strain tasting” evening. Here are perfect strains to go with your spooktacular high.

  • Blueberry Ghost OG
  • Zombie Kush
  • Jack the Ripper
  • Killer Queen
  • Ghost Train Haze

Set up a tasting station with descriptions of each strain’s effects and flavors.

The Shining

One of the most popular ways to enjoy marijuana during Halloween is through edibles. You can bake cannabis-infused cookies or brownies to fit the Halloween theme. For instance, using cookie cutters, create spooky shapes like ghosts and pumpkins. To make these treats, you’ll need to prepare cannabutter by decarboxylating your cannabis concentrate, then mixing it into your cookie dough.

Music, marijuana, and Halloween create a unique trifecta of cultural celebration, especially during the spooky season. Crafting a playlist that embodies this vibe can enhance gatherings, whether for a Halloween party or a chill evening alone or with friends. Include tracks evoking the eerie atmosphere of Halloween. Classic songs like “Thriller” by Michael Jackson and “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr. set the tone.  Fold in some laid-back tunes that pair well with marijuana. Songs like “Because I Got High” by Afroman and “Hits from the Bong” by Cypress Hill resonate well with the cannabis culture and provide a relaxed listening experience. And mix in some upbeat tracks to keep the energy alive. Songs like “Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett and “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell blend fun with a hint of spookiness.

Another idea is a pumpkin carving contest by turning mini gourds into smoking devices.

  1. Carve out your pumpkin as usual
  2. Drill a hole for the downstem
  3. Insert downstem and attach bowl
  4. Carve a mouthpiece on top
  5. Load bowl and enjoy your festive pumpkin pipe
While integrating marijuana into Halloween festivities can be fun, safety should always be a priority. Ensure that all edibles are clearly labeled and stored out of reach of unsuspecting people and pets. Educate your guests about responsible consumption, particularly if they are unfamiliar with cannabis products. And make sure you don’t hit and drive.

Maybe You Shouldn’t Watch Horror Movies While High

Halloween is a great time of year for tricks and treats…but if a little marijuana is your treat, maybe you should watch true horror movies.

October is the month of Halloween and horror movies. Movie marathons and film festivals abound along with special screenings in movie theaters. But, it might not be the thing for growing mainstream who are embracing cannabis.  Maybe you shouldn’t watch horror movies while high. Horror is the fastest-rising film genre, having doubled market share from 4.87 percent in 2013 to 10.08 percent in 2023, While the Conjuring universe, Us, Talk to Me and more might grab the imagination, the effects of marijuana on the mind might give you pause.
The first horror movie is widely believed to be the 1896 short film Le Manoir du Diable, The House of the Devil. This 3-minute short film was created by French filmmaker Georges Méliès, who is also credited with inventing many filming techniques and tricks.
Watching horror movies while under the influence of cannabis can lead to a uniquely intense experience, but it often comes with significant drawbacks. Here are several reasons why you might want to reconsider this combination.
The Shining
Cannabis can amplify feelings of anxiety and paranoia, which are already prevalent in horror films. The suspenseful music, sudden scares, and disturbing imagery can become overwhelming when paired with the psychoactive effects of marijuana. Many viewers report a heightened state of awareness which can transform a thrilling scare into a panic-inducing moment, making the experience far from enjoyable.
When stoned, perception of reality can shift dramatically. Horror movies often blur the lines between fiction and reality. Under the influence, this distortion can feel even more pronounced. This heightened sense of immersion might lead to confusion or fear of what is happening on screen could somehow affect you in real life. For instance, films like The Thing and Hellraiser are particularly noted for their ability to evoke intense feelings of claustrophobia and dread, which can spiral into a bad trip when viewed while high.
Certain horror films are notorious for inducing “bad trips,” especially for those who may already be predisposed to anxiety or have had negative experiences with substances. Movies that delve into psychological horror or body horror—like Tusk or The Trip—can trigger distressing thoughts or feelings that linger long after the film ends. Experts advise avoiding these films if you’re not in a stable mental state.
There is a case for a few exceptions. Comedy or old school horror can be fun. The original Frankenstein or Young Frankenstein can be great. Some of the 1970s sexy campy horror can be enjoyable and interesting.   Also, Scary Movie, The Cabin in the Woods, Trolls, Little Shop of Horrors.

Quirky Information About The Goldfish Snack Name Change

Goldfish is rebranding the yummy treats at Chilean Sea Bass.  The fish which rebranded itself.

From its beginning as a snack served in small bowls in bars across Canada and the US, the orange treat has evolved into a must have staple for parents. Looking to reconnect with their roots, they are now rebranding (temporarily) the name. Here is some quirky information about the Goldfish snack name change.
“We know the love for Goldfish spans all ages,” Danielle Brown, vice president of Goldfish, said in a statement. “Chilean Sea Bass is a playful nod to adults that the iconic fish-shaped snack is for grown-up tastes too.”
The petite snack was created as an act of love by Oscar J. Kambly II for his beloved wife who was a Pisces. He was part of Swiss baking company and created the original fish. Margaret Rudkin, the founder of Pepperidge Farm, acquired the rights to the Goldfish trademark, shape, and recipe while on vacation in Switzerland. Margaret was pioneer in healthy foods.
In 1961, Ruskin sold Pepperidge farm to The Campbell Soup Company and became their first female board member. Campbell’s launched Goldfish crackers in North America in 1962. Today, about $1 billion of them are sold which equals about 142 billion little fish.

The Goldfish rebrand parallels a prior fish rebrand. The fish known today as Chilean Sea Bass is actually the Patagonian Toothfish, a deep-sea species found in the cold waters of the Southern Ocean. In 1977, Lee Lantz, an American seafood merchant, discovered this fish at a Chilean port. Recognizing its potential but realizing that its unappealing name and appearance would be a tough sell, Lantz ingeniously rebranded it as “Chilean Sea Bass”.
The rebranding was a resounding success. Chilean Sea Bass quickly became a favorite in upscale restaurants across the United States and Canada. Chefs appreciated its versatility, mild taste, and melt-in-your-mouth texture, which makes it ideal for various dishes.
The renaming is a way to recapture an adult audience. The little fish has even gone to outerspace. The Space Shuttle Discovery in 1988 brought some to space giving them a worldly air.
Known for being innovative, Goldfish has mixed up their offerings occasionally offering limited time flavor such as Flavor Blasted, Whole Grain, and even limited-edition Dunkin’ Pumpkin Spice Grahams. There openness to mixing is has lead to them being As of 2024, the fastest-growing cracker brand.

The Most Popular Costume In Each State

0

It is the time of year when you try to come up with something clever without being cringy.

Halloween is here and people are scrambling to figure out a costume which is easy, clever and avoids being cringy. About 25% of people will dress up this holiday – from a simple mask to a full blown outfit. Over $4 billion will be spent on costumes. Another $8+ billion will be spent on candy and decorations.  But what to where?  Here is the most popular costume in each state.
The tradition of dressing up for Halloween has deep historical roots, primarily originating from ancient Celtic customs associated with the festival of Samhain. This festival marked the end of the harvest season and the onset of winter, during which it was believed that the boundary between the living and the dead became blurred. To ward off malevolent spirits and honor deceased ancestors, the Celts wore costumes made from animal skins and heads.
As Christianity spread, elements of Samhain merged with Christian celebrations, particularly All Hallows’ Eve, the night before All Saints’ Day. This blending encouraged people to dress as saints, angels, or demons, further shaping the modern Halloween costume tradition. By the 19th century, Irish and Scottish immigrants brought these customs to America, where Halloween began to evolve into a community celebration. The late 19th and early 20th centuries saw a rise in elaborate costumes influenced by popular culture, with companies beginning to mass-produce costumes for children and adults alike.

Oreo Brownie

To make an Oreo brownie, simply place 5 Oreos in a food processor and pulverize. Place crumbs in a dish and add 1 tsp. sugar, about 1/8 tsp of baking powder, 1/4 c. milk and microwave on high for one minute. Top with ice cream, whipped cream, sprinkles, whatever. Delicious! Here’s another recipe:

All you need is a 1 (14.3-oz) package of Oreos,  1 egg, and 2 Tbsp melted butter. Refinery29 has a handy tutorial you can watch while eating the second package of Oreos you bought “for emergencies.”

Oreo S’mores

Place a roasted marshmallow atop the Oreo filling that’s already in there and you just created magic.

PB&J Cookie Sandwich

Remove the bottom chocolate cookie from a Berry Creme Oreo, and the top cookie from a PB Creme Oreo and smoosh them together, creating a Peanut Butter & Jelly hybrid.
