What Is Moon Rock Marijuana And How Do I Make It

If you think you are ready to lift off – Moon Rock marijuana may be the thing for you

Out of all the different cannabis-based products that have hit center stage in the past few years, moon rock (or more specifically, moon rock marijuana) has entered a realm of popularity we haven’t seen since the explosion of concentrates.

This product is a mad science blend of a few simple ingredients, when combined, can pack a potent punch. But there is a lot of confusion circulating the cannabis scene on what Moon Rock really is.

Some people associated the name with harder drugs, while others think it is a unique strain. Neither is true. So, to help sort out the ambiguity behind moon rock, here is a crash course on the subject.

Moon rock marijuana is simply a mixture a raw flower, hash oil and kief. It is a triple threat concoction that is made by covering buds in oil and topping them with a kief dusting.

If done correctly, the finished product closely resembles a moldy piece of mystery meat. But moon rock is far from trash. It is one of the most potent forces on the cannabis market today — all of which depends on the initial strength and quality of the three key ingredients.

RELATED: Everything You Need To Know About Moon Rocks

But just how potent is moon rock? Let’s just say it’s not for beginners. It typically comes with around 50% THC. But it is not unheard of for the THC content to rise into the triple digits. It is the Everclear of the weed world. So clear your schedule.

Although the potency of moon rock is a large part of why it has become so popular, it is actually the synergy that takes place between the three ingredients that produces its magical effects. The easiest way to explain this is the bud, oil and keif all work in concert to create a special buzz. Because of this, each moon rock creation is an opportunity to experience different effects.

Although moon rocks can be made at home, the process from start to finish can be quite extensive. If you’re one of those people who cannot make a grilled cheese sandwich without burning the bread, home production is probably not the best route.

Fortunately, most dispensaries carry moon rock. Yet not all are made with quality ingredients. So, before coughing up your hard earned cash on this product at your local dispensary, be sure to ask the budtender questions about how it was manufactured.

On appearance alone, it can be relatively easy to spot a quality product over one that is subpar. High grade moon rock will have a thicker dusting of keif. It also has an extremely pungent odor. If you have to try really hard to catch a whiff, it’s probably not the best quality.

Have a nice trip, space cadets!

Medical Marijuana May Help With Brain Cancer

Brain cancer has been in the news – it is a devastating diagnosis, but there is hope cannabis could help.

Michael Strahan has gone public with one of his daughters has brain cancer. Since then, she is having a slow recovery she is sharing to bring awareness brain cancer is an all age disease. Over 100,000 people are diagnosed with a primary brain tumor annually. Brain and other CNS tumors are the fifth most common cancer. Over 30,000 children are currently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Over 1 million people are living with a diagnosis of a primary brain tumor and it can be a rough road. Early research suggest medical marijuana may help with brain cancer.

RELATED: Science Says Medical Marijuana Improves Quality Of Life

It is proven cannabis has medical benefits, but more research needs to be done to better define how it can have an impact and help patients. Currently, the evidence that cannabis-based products can treat brain tumours or brain cancer is limited. Preliminary studies from the lab suggest that cannabinoid chemicals THC and CBD can stop glioblastoma (GBM) cells from growing, causing them to die and disrupting the blood supply to the tumour cells.

There has been some data and research around glioma which looks promising. Glioma is a growth of cells that starts in the brain or spinal cord. The cells in a glioma look similar to healthy brain cells called glial cells. Glial cells surround nerve cells and help them function. As a glioma grows it forms a tumor.

Preliminary studies from the lab suggest that cannabinoid chemicals THC and CBD can stop glioblastoma (GBM) cells from growing, causing them to die and disrupting the blood supply to the tumour cells.

In 2021, an early-stage trial led by Professor Susan Short suggested that adding a specific blend of these chemicals – in the form of a drug called Sativex – to chemotherapy could potentially help treat recurrent GBMs more effectively.

RELATED: The Most Popular Marijuana Flavors

CXannabis-based drug Sativex approved as a prescription medicine. The drug, used in treating multiple sclerosis, was also found to be tolerable in combination with chemotherapy, with the potential to extend survival, in a phase I trial in glioblastomas.

A phase II trial, led by the University of Leeds, is assessing whether adding Sativex – an oral spray containing cannabinoids THC and CBD – to chemotherapy, could extend life for thousands diagnosed with a recurrent glioblastoma. Currently, it has an average survival of less than 10 months.

Scientific research indicates medical cannabis and cannabinoids could become key therapy in modern neuro-oncology; however, further studies are needed to establish outcomes and  dosage.

More Marijuana Rescheduling Hints

Rescheduling is important to states and the marijuana industry…and people are looking for clues

States with legal marijuana want the tax revenue.  Cannabis businesses need relief and help to continue and grow. The marijuana industry needs to move to the next level of legitimate industry. And consumers and patients need reliable, safe products which are the same from store to dispensary.  This is the role of the federal government, but for the first two years, the Biden industry dithered.  But the wheels have started turning and now they are more marijuana rescheduling hints.

RELATED: California or New York, Which Has The Biggest Marijuana Mess

The biggest hint is the breaking news came today during a short email sent from HHS. “Good afternoon and thank you for your patience,” a Department of Justice attorney said in an email on Thursday. “The agency has advised that it will release the letter and its enclosures in their entirety.”

The letter and its enclosures mean The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has agreed to release documents related to its recommendation to federally reschedule marijuana in its entirety. This seems to be  do to potential litigation over a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request regarding the findings.  The release adds pressure if the DEA plans to break precedent by not following HHS’s recommendation.

SAFER Banking advocate Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer shared HHS has recommended marijuana be moved from a Schedule I to a Schedule III controlled substance.

According to the DEA, Schedule I drugs have no currently accepted medical use in the United States, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse.  The National Institute of Health disagrees on their website.  And with rescheduling, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would become involved, while it is more of an onerous process, it would establish guidelines to make it more acceptable to major mainstream retailers and, more importantly, the medical community.

Additionally, rescheduling the drug would reduce or potentially eliminate criminal penalties for possession. Marijuana is currently classified as a Schedule I drug, alongside heroin and LSD.

The industry agrees with Schumer who made a clear appeal when he shared the “DEA should now follow through on this important step to greatly reduce the harm caused by draconian marijuana laws.”

Which State Has The Cheapest Marijuana

Who doesn’t love a good bargain? Or bragging right for a good deal….well here is the best deals on weed

Everyone loves a good bargain! Be it real estate or eggs, most people look at prices and compare. A third of people claim they’re the best bargain hunter they know (34%). In addition, 87% say they’ll carry money-saving habits with them forever.  In fact, the reason prices in at 99, . 95, or . 98 is a psychological pricing strategy to make products appear cheaper than they are. This is based on the theory that consumers are more likely to perceive an item priced at $4.99 as being significantly cheaper than an item priced at $5.00, even though the difference is only one cent. So which states have the cheapest marijuana and gas?

One of the top bargain is the hunt for cheap gas…Costco is a winner.  Gas prices are very complex and a global market. And there is always a profit motive. One study found gas prices fall twice as slowly as they rise after a major change in oil prices. This means, for example, if it took four weeks for gas prices per gallon to increase 25 cents, it would take them eight weeks to fall 25 cents once oil prices returned to their starting level. With this information, here is the top 5 places to fill you tank at the best price.

When is comes to marijuana, it is a bit tricky.  Legal New York City mainly sales via a black market.  They have over 1,500 unlicensed dispensaries selling products at a premium.  BDSA, one of the top data analysts shared information where consumers can purchase the cheapest legal weed.

It Is not surprising market forces push up New Jersey and New York with all the weed available from the black market.  And some states put a burdensome amount of taxes on products which always drives up the price.

Medical Marijuana Reduces Opioid Use

Good news – opioid use is down when medical marijuana is an option.  It benefits the mind, body and patient.

Opioids and fentanyl driving a crisis in recent years, with the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbating the public’s abuse of the drug. The crisis has also become a major U.S. foreign policy issue.  Massive lawsuits have been filling the courts due to the addictive and damaging nature of some opioids and patients have been left in shambles.  Now, data shows medical marijuana reduces opioid use.

A new study from New York State and CUNY researchers suggests receiving medical cannabis for thirty days or more may help patients on long-term opioid treatment to lower their dose over time.

Another study conducted by the American Medical Association showed positive data.  The study, published in JAMA Oncology, analyzed the results of thousands of patients with different types of cancer. ound an association between receiving medical cannabis for chronic pain for a longer duration and a reduction in prescription opioid dosages among patients on long-term opioid therapy. Patients who were on higher baseline dosages of prescription opioids when they started receiving medical cannabis experienced larger reductions in opioid dosages.

Researchers explained that the study was conducted in order to explore the links that exist between marijuana legalization and opioid use. They concluded that medical marijuana curbed opioid use and provided an alternate route for treatment.

“Findings of this cross-sectional study suggest that medical marijuana legalization implemented from 2012 to 2017 was associated with a lower rate of opioid dispensing and pain-related hospital events among some adults receiving treatment for newly diagnosed cancer,” they wrote.

“The nature of these associations and their implications for patient safety and quality of life need to be further investigated,” researchers added.

Medical marijuana has less of an impact on the body and mind. Cannabis can be an effective treatment for pain, greatly reduces the chance of dependence, and eliminates the risk of fatal overdose compared to opioid-based medications. Medical cannabis patients report that cannabis is just as effective, if not more, than opioid-based medications for pain.

With medical marijuana available in 40 states, this is indeed good news for most patients.

UFC Greenlights Cannabis

The first major sports organization is recognizing cannabis can play a role in training and medical recovery

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the first sports organization to fully change their stance on cannabis and THC. Official Mixed Martial Arts events are now cleared for weed. UFC is the parent of the full-contact combat sport MMA which is based on striking, grappling and ground fighting, incorporating techniques from various combat sports from around the world. The first documented use of the term mixed martial arts was in a review of UFC 1 by television critic Howard Rosenberg. In the waning of days of 2023, they set another record when they shared they are dropping cannabis as a banned substance.

RELATED: California or New York, Which Has The Biggest Marijuana Mess

In 2021, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) took steps to shield professional fighters from penalties related to THC-positive test results. Now, the organization has gone one step further and officially removed cannabis from its revised list of prohibited substances for athletes.

“UFC’s goal for the Anti-Doping Policy is to be the best, most effective, and most progressive anti-doping program in all of professional sports,” said Hunter Campbell, UFC Chief Business Officer.  “UFC is proud of the advancements we have made with our anti-doping program over the past eight years, and we will continue to maintain an independently administered drug-testing program that ensures all UFC athletes are competing under fair and equal circumstances.  With this new iteration of the program, UFC has once again raised the bar for health and safety in combat sports.”

“The criteria for prohibited substances will be modeled after WADA’s In and Out of Competition programs with modifications based on historical findings”.  Marijuana was removed from the prohibited.

MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is generally considered to be one of the most dangerous sports in the world because of the consistent hits to the head and body. A spinning heel kick to the jaw would have anyone gritting their teeth. Every fighter should expect to get injured at some point in their career. Injuries occur during training because they spend most of their time in sparring (low-intensity fighting), grappling, heavy bag, etc. Common injuries include skin lacerations, bone fractures, and concussions.

Best Ways To Stay Fit Without A Gym

0

Being realistic with your fitness goals is key – maybe ease into it and build a routine

Exercise is always on the top of the list for new year goals.  Usually there is a weight loss goal and a number of days in the gym.  Unfortunately, people get very excited and then the enthusiasm tapers off and by the end of January, only 9% of people are still focused on their goal. January is the one of the busiest and definitely the most profitable month for gyms.  (March/April is the busiest in attendance as people prep for swimsuit season).  But you can get fit without a gym members – especially if your goal is to move more.

For most people, that entails spending on gym membership, which you’ll use maybe half as often as you’d planned. But instead of spending/wasting money on a gym, what if you were able to get in shape on your own…for free? It sounds crazy, but here are the best ways to stay fit without a gym.

Work Out With A Buddy or Two

Photo by Curtis Mac Newton via Unsplash

Everyone has a friend who is either addicted to exercise or is at least determined, like you are, to get in better shape. Make a standing date with your person—once a week, at least—to do some sort of outdoor physical activity. It can be a short jog in the park, a long walk around your neighborhood, running stairs, a game of tennis—anything as long as it gets you moving and lasts at least 30 minutes.

Play A Sport

RELATED: Smoking Marijuana Before Exercises Can Increase Workout Productivity

If you’re physically able, there’s no more fun—and inexpensive—way to get in shape than by playing a sport. There are opportunities for everyone, no matter what your skill level is. If you’re a former college or high school star athlete, then there are leagues in whatever city for you; if you’re just an average person who enjoys a bit of competition every now and again, you can start a casual pickup game of the sport of your choosing in a park with your friends.

Walk More

Photo via The Falclondale/Flickr

This sounds like overly simple advice but it works: whenever possible, make yourself walk more. If you live in a city requiring parking, park as far as possible away from your office or home so you have to walk farther. If you sit all day, try to take a short, five-minute walk once an hour or so. If you work on the fifth floor or lower, at least once a day you should take the stairs instead of the elevator. All those extra steps add up!

Bodyweight Exercises

There are dozens of exercises you can do literally anywhere as long as you have a little bit of space. These run from basic options (sit-ups) to the more elaborate ones(Contralateral Limb Raises). Here’s a list of 50.

RELATED: This Is How Much Exercise You Need According To WHO

The important thing is to do some combination which works on your upper body, core, and lower body. But the best part of bodyweight exercises, aside from the results if you do them correctly, is their price: aside from a few basics like sneakers, workout clothes, and maybe a mat to make them more comfortable, they’re totally free.

Why Vapes Don’t Have The Weed Smell

Flower is still popular, but so is vaping. One reason is it more discreet due to the lack of smell

Sometimes you can tell when someone is using weed, and sometimes you can’t.  As more states go legal and it is become mainstream in Canada, Europe and the US, how people consume is changing. Millennials and Gen Z’s are upending how people consume.  Flower is trending to older and more traditional users.  Vaping and gummies have become the go-to for the younger set.  It is more discreet and easier to use to transport and easily use in public.  This has lead some to ask why vapes don’t have the weed smell.

Why vaping doesn’t smell like marijuana is in the science of how each method delivers a high. Through a process called decarboxylation, heat applied to raw flower alters the precursor tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) into the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). But raw flower also contains many other organic compounds, many of which, like terpenes, are also altered during combustion and responsible for burnt marijuana’s distinctive odor.

RELATED: The Benefits And Potential Downsides Of Vaping, According To Research

Vaporizing cannabis oil works a little differently. Vaporizers heat up oils and concentrates to a temperature that converts THCA to THC without burning it. Flower vapes also designed to heat up buds only enough to initiate the chemistry that makes the high happen.

For as stealth as vaping is, it is not without some drawbacks. Cannabis oils and concentrates tend to be produced for maximum THC concentration, oftentimes by refining and then distilling inexpensive weed trim. Marijuana flowers have hundreds of compounds besides THC that work together to produce a high unique to smoking flower. This however is changing as concentrate producers are creating “full spectrum” oils that include terpenes,  as well as cannabinoids besides THC, such as CBD.

RELATED: The Most Popular Marijuana Flavors

Another drawback are counterfeit vape cartridges and devices. Vape batteries contain batteries that can explode or cause a fire if it’s left in a high temperature area, like a locked car, or it’s exposed to air or water. Some malfunction due to poor quality. Counterfeit cartridges can contain harmful chemicals, or little to no cannabis in it. Cheaply made carts can also malfunction or leak, making whatever oil is left wasted and unusable.

Being able to conveniently and discreetly get high with a vape is great, made all the better, consistent, and trouble-free when manufacturer’s instructions are followed and you consume responsibility.
