The 5 Best Candles For Cannabis Smokers

Candles can smell like anything you want, but they will always brighten your mood after lighting, and perhaps serve a second function of discreetly muting your cannabis cloud.

For many, cannabis use is a ritual in and of itself. It’s often one of relaxation, enjoyment, and the celebration of the senses. Creating an environment to enhance this experience is one that many partakers deploy. This varies from person to person, and for some involves incense, a special rolling tray, or maybe a particular corner of the flat.

One simple way to immediately elevate your surroundings, with usually only limited investment, is a nice candle. They can smell like anything you want, but they will always brighten your mood after lighting, and perhaps serve a second function of discreetly muting your cannabis cloud.

Candles represent so many things to so many people, but having one flickering in the foreground while you do almost anything instantly feels softer, and more chill.

FBI Worried About Corruption In The Marijuana Industry

The FBI is looking into possible corruption and bribing around marijuana licenses, but the organization needs some help.

The cannabis industry is a highly regulated business sector barely in its infancy. Marijuana Business Factbook reported that marijuana’s economic impact in 2017 was between $20 to 23 billion. By 2022, that number could reach as high as $77 billion. According to Markets Insider, that figure compares to the GDPs of Idaho and West Virginia.

With the ability to make significant money, inevitably comes the possibility of corruption. That might explain why the FBI announced it was investigating—and looking for any tips—into potential corruption in the cannabis industry, particularly within Western states.

As an increasing number of states change their marijuana legislation, the FBI is seeing a public corruption threat emerge in the expanding cannabis industry,” FBI spokeswoman Molly Halpern said in a podcast the bureau released Thursday.

“States require licenses to grow and sell the drug—opening the possibility for public officials to become susceptible to bribes in exchange for those licenses.”

Supervisory Special Agent Regino Chavez added that in some states, those bribes reach as high as $500,000. He noted the number indicated how people are “willing to pay large amounts of money to get in to the industry.”

Sources within the cannabis industry told Marijuana Business Daily they’d been approached by the FBI. Agents often asked about “the possibility of corruption and pay-to-play situations in the awarding of business licenses,” reports Marijuana Business Daily.

“The corruption is more prevalent in western states where the licensing is decentralized—meaning the level of corruption can span from the highest to the lowest level of public officials,” Halpern said.

As more states legalize marijuana and opens new markets, the FBI predicts corruption will only become more prevalent within cannabis businesses. The FBI requests any tips available.

The Time Dave Chappelle Discovered His Son Smoked Marijuana

No comedian can consistently deliver high-level humor like Dave Chappelle. Watch this bit to see how.

You can debate the political importance of various comedians and critique the ethical quandaries of dirty jokester as long as you want. You can even argue about ranking Netflix’s best comedy special or which up-and-comer stand-up is most worthy of a brighter spotlight. No matter what you do, an immutable truth will remain—Dave Chappelle is the funniest comic alive.

No one breathes punchlines quite like Chappelle. Over the past three years, he’s released four Netflix specials that individually rival any other comedian’s best. But it’s the totality of this achievement — so much funny in such a brief interval — that qualifies Chappelle as the ultimate funny man. Who else can accrue this many jokes, anecdotes, political commentary, and dirty dick humor all together in such a short amount of time?

Which is why we’re ecstatic Chappelle release another Netflix special next week, Aug. 26. (You can watch the trailer here.) To commemorate the occasion, we’re recalling one of Chappelle’s most incisively clever bits of his recent output. That would be the time he found out his son smoked weed, too.

Somehow, in the span of just a couple of minutes, Chappelle covers parenting dilemmas, weed paranoia, the burden of inheritance, the loss of innocence, the irony of parents chasing youth, and more. Think that sounds depressing? It isn’t. Instead, it’s probably the funniest YouTube video you’ll watch all week.

Fake Cannabis Vapes Are Everywhere

0

Last week, 20 people were hospitalized in the midwestern part of the country — Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin — due to breathing complications as a result of vaping.

Vaporizers are one of the hottest trends on the legal cannabis market. They are a convenient, discreet and odor-free way for consumers to catch a buzz in almost any environment. But just like any other highly sought after product, they are also being counterfeited by criminal organizations.

There are now knock-offs of popular vape brands (King Pen, Brass Knuckles and Heavy Hitters, just to name a few) sold across the United States. What makes this so problematic is the manufacturing process that these black market groups are using to put this stuff on the streets could be poisoning users and putting them at risk of potentially life-threatening health conditions.

It was just last week that 20 people were hospitalized in the midwestern part of the country — Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin — due to breathing complications as a result of vaping. In some cases, young adults admitted to the hospital were thought to have respiratory infections, similar to pneumonia. But their condition later worsened to the point where at least one patient had to be put into a medically induced coma.

Doctors still haven’t identified the culprit responsible for the poisoning.

“We know there are certain characteristics in common with these cases, but we have not been able to get to the bottom of exactly what aspect of the vaping habit or product or solvent or oil is causing the injury,” said Dr. Emily Chapman, chief medical officer for Children’s Minnesota, a pediatric health system headquartered in Minneapolis, in an interview with NBC News.

RELATED: The Benefits And Potential Downsides Of Vaping, According To Research

Similar cases also broke out in California and New York. At least 17 people are said to have suffered from pneumonia-like symptoms and have been admitted to intensive care units due to a potentially fatal lung condition.

All of the patients affected had been using cannabis vapes or CBD oils within the past month, according to reports. But the most frightening detail in these cases is, much like the vape poisonings in the Midwest, doctors have not been able to identify the toxin harming people’s lungs.

Fake vapes could be the source of this plague. A recent study from Solo Sciences, a cannabis tech firm that created a “cryptographically-secure cannabis product authentication system” intended to prevent bogus pot products, shows that 80 percent of all packaged cannabis products are imposters.

“The world of cannabis is murky, unpredictable, and often not safe,” saidSolo CEO and founder Ashesh Shah.

RELATED: Is Your Vape Pen Dangerous? Read This To Find Out

States that have legalized marijuana for medicinal and recreational use require cannabis products to be tested before they are made available to the consumer. These tests are to ensure that the weed is free of pesticides and other contaminants. Of course, black market providers are not as diligent about protecting the health of their customers. There have been numerous reports over the years of vapes and other cannabis-related items, including CBD oil, containing all sorts of dangerous chemicals that have made people sick.

In ways, the problem with counterfeit pot products is similar to what happened back in the days of alcohol prohibition. Tainted liquor became so problematic during this time that around 1,000 people died each year as a result. Fortunately, no fatalities have yet been reported due to harmful vapes. But the deterioration in respiratory function that these products are causing can lead to death, according to a press statement issued by the New York State Department of Health.

Although cannabis is legal in a handful of states, many people are still opting to use the black market to save money. And in jurisdictions where marijuana remains an outlaw substance, the consumer often has no choice but to buy what is sold on the illicit market. Cannabis users are being reminded, however, that using unregulated pot products, such as vapes, could have severe health consequences.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson got surprised married to his longtime love; and Miley Cyrus is once again seen with her rumored rebound.

WEDDING PHOTOS! The Rock is a married man!

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has tied the knot with his partner Lauren Hashian.

The 47-year-old actor announced the good news on his Instagram account, surprising fans by uploading a series of stunning sunset pictures from his big day.

He wrote: ‘We do. August 18th, 2019.Hawaii.@laurenhashianofficial @hhgarcia41’.

The couple, who raise daughters Jasmine, three, and Tiana, 15 months, have been together since 2007.

Lauren wore a beautiful white lace dress with a low-cut neckline, fitted bodice and long train, styling her auburn locks in perfect curls.

The Rock was typically laid back for his big day, ditching a suit jacket in favour of a button down shirt and smart white trousers.
Fans rushed to congratulate the pair on their marriage, showering the happy couple with well wishes.

They were initially due to get married in the Spring of 2018, but postponed the wedding when Lauren fell pregnant with their second child.

Miley Cyrus & Kaitlynn Carter Grab Lunch In LA With Singer’s Mom

Via iHeart Radio:

According to Us Weekly, Brody Jenner’s ex dined out with the “Mother’s Daughter” musician and her mother, Tish Cyrus, out in Los Angeles this weekend. Per the celebrity gossip outlet, Cyrus’ mom drove the trio out on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood to grab a bite to eat at BOA Steakhouse.

It’s the second time Carter and Cyrus — who are reportedly in a no-labels-attached relationship — have been spotted together since the 26-year-old separated from husband Liam Hemsworth on August 11. The pair were previously spotted in LA on Wednesday (August 14) as well.

The day before the songstress’ separation from the Australian actor was announced, she and the blogger were pictured kissing each other during their vacation in Lake Como, Italy, last weekend. Cyrus’ breakup came just a week after Carter and Jenner’s split after their marriage was reportedly never legitimized.

Despite the ongoing PDA, Jenner came to his ex’s defense amid the backlash she received for her involvement with Cyrus.

Hemsworth and Cyrus, who secretly tied the knot in December 2018, have since addressed their split via their respective Instagram accounts. “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win … change is inevitable,” Cyrus wrote at the time, as Hemsworth responded days later, wishing her “nothing but happiness” amid their separation.

On Friday (August 16), Cyrus appeared to address her breakup from Hemsworth on an emotional send-off ballad titled “Slide Away.” In it, she sings: “Move on, we’re not 17/ I’m not who I used to be. You say that everything’s changed/ You’re right, we’re grown now.”

Despite Recession Talks, Cannabis Jobs Remain Abundant In Nevada

0

With worry over a potential national financial dip, the cannabis industry continues its climb toward employing Americans.

America still has a bit of post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from the great recession that took place around 10 years ago. And that is perfectly understandable. Anyone who was employed at the time knows all too well the toll this financial fiasco had on the economic foundation most of us often take for granted. Somewhere around 8.8 million people lost their jobs during the recession. Unfortunately, some of these workers never truly recovered from it either.

These days, all one has to do is turn on the news to hear the dreaded R-word being tossed around as if the country is on its way back to ruins. Many are concerned that the Trump Administration’s trade war with China is on the verge of putting the people back on the path to hard times. Sure, stocks are a bit shaky right now, but unemployment is as low as it has been in the United States in five decades. Nevertheless, the country is a bit nervous the job market is weakening.

RELATED: Is Nevada Smoking The Competition Or Is Sin  City Not Living Up To The Tax Revenue Hype?

But the one industry the nation didn’t have much of at the time of the last recession was the cannabis trade. Marijuana legalization has become more widespread over the past five years—starting with recreational weed in Colorado and Washington—which has spawned hundreds of thousands of new jobs, as well as put money in the pockets of those people who work in traditional industries.

Every business sector from realtors to contractors rake in the cash every time a new state legalizes the leaf. This makes all the sense in the world, as well. Before a cannabis company can sell its first gram of weed to the consumer, it must have buildings renovated, facilities built, special equipment installed. Plus, it relies on the same resources that any other business might to get this done. So it goes without saying that legal weed has been a great benefit to the American economy.

We’ve said in previous columns on the subject of marijuana jobs that if someone is starving in a state that has legalized cannabis, they probably just aren’t trying very hard to secure gainful employment. Even a person with little to no experience can still find an entry-level position in the cannabis trade where they can earn in upwards of $15 per hour. It’s not great money by any stretch, but it is enough to keep some folks from being driven into the streets destitute and beyond repair.

And apparently, Nevada is the best place to go for the most opportunity in this burgeoning field.

While the cannabis industry creates somewhere around 211,000 new jobs across the U.S., a recent report finds that Nevada alone spawned 16,000 of them. It is a scene where money can be made in areas that go beyond just growing and selling marijuana, according to industry insiders. This is an environment where driven people with an interest in weed can flourish.

“If somebody doesn’t want to work in the dispensary or directly in the cannabis industry, there are so many different jobs out there,” cannabis consultant Jason Sturtsman told FOX-affiliate KVVU-TV.

RELATED: Coming Soon: Everything You Need To Know About Las Vegas Cannabis Lounges

Even if a job seeker doesn’t want to earn his keep through the legal weed system, Nevada is still a reliable place to get a fresh start. Especially for those who perhaps enjoy marijuana a little too much to get a decent paying position in other areas. Nevada recently passed a law that bans most employers from conducting pre-employment drug screens for marijuana. So, it is stoner-friendly right out of the gate. Unfortunately, the law doesn’t prevent marijuana users from getting fired if they test positive for pot on the job, but it can provide some folks with an “in” that wasn’t always there before.

While it is unlikely that the country is headed for another recession anytime soon, a nervous America can take solace in the fact that legal weed is now here to help if times get tough. We have seen over the years how legalization has helped struggling communities rise above the ashes, and it has helped put food back on the table for thousands of families that had lost all hope.

5 Of The Worst Food Inventions Ever

Weird food inventions have always been around, but these are the worst and most embarrassing ones we can think of.

Food inventions and mashups are a mixed bag. While most of these good intentioned creations—the cronut, the ramen burger—satisfy a few curiosities, they end up forgotten by the end of the year. Not the ones though we’re about to talk about though; these ones will be remembered forever.

Check out five of the worst food inventions of all time:

Heinz EZ Squirt Colored Ketchup

In the year 2000, Heinz had the bright idea to alter America’s favorite condiment in order to do some advertising for the Shrek movie. Green ketchup was met with such acclaim that Heinz developed even more colors. Blue, teal, peach, purple, pink and orange were available for a couple of years, selling more than 26 million bottles. In 2006, the fad had passed and the product was canceled. Our memories were not—who could forget dipping a fry into a puddle of green-colored ketchup sauce?

Pepsi A.M.

Pepsi’s deranged project was meant to compete with coffee and morning drinks. Containing more caffeine than the average Pepsi but much less than coffee, Pepsi A.M. made it to shelves in 1989. It was a huge flop, and it was gone from the market almost as soon as it got there.

Pumpkin Spice Flavored SPAM

RELATED: 12 Celebrities And The Foods They Refuse To Eat

Initially originated as a Facebook joke a couple of years ago, Spam finally decided to pull through and offer something that no one in their right mind wants: Pumpkin spice-flavored Spam. The product will be available starting September 23, so you can eat your pumpkin spice flavored Spam in the fall, and it will be sold on Walmart and through their website.

Fizzix Carbonated Yogurt

Developed by Yoplait, Fizzix was targeted to teens and had the GoGurt name attached to it because that apparently made it cooler for a younger demographic. I think Yoplait thought bubbles were edgy and somehow fitting for a yogurt that teens would want to eat. It’s not available anymore, so clearly it wasn’t successful business venture.

Cheetos Lip Balm

Although we can’t really be surprised since there was a Cheetos restaurant that opened a couple of years ago, it’s still surprising to learn that Cheetos also wanted in on the lip balm market. Who would want their lips to have a cheesy flavor for an undetermined amount of time?

This Week’s Music: Rosalia, Muna And Miley Cyrus

Reggaeton and pop are featured this week with new songs from Rosalia, Muna and Miley Cyrus.

This Week’s Music is a weekly column that discusses the weeks’ best, worst, and most interesting songs. We try to select songs of different artists and genres to keep things interesting and to please a variety of music fans.

This week’s column features Rosalia and Ozuna’s surprise collaboration, Muna’s new song and Miley Cyrus’ break up single.

Reggaeton

Rosalia and Ozuna – Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi

Rosalia and Ozuna, two of the most beloved Spanish speaking singers, hail from opposite sides of the world but share an innovative streak in their music. Both have played a big role in introducing songs sung in Spanish to people who speak other languages, while also revamping reggaeton and making the genre more personal and versatile. “Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi” is fun, relaxed and a perfect example of two performers at the top of their game.

Pop

Muna – Stayaway

RELATED: This Week’s Music: Angel Olsen, Lana Del Rey And Megan Thee Stalliion

MUNA’s much awaited sophomore album continues to build up with “Stayaway,” a song that’s thoughtful and sincere. The band’s sound is better and more polished than ever, evoking 90’s rock with a contemporary heart and feel.

Miley Cyrus – Slide Away

Following her much publicized breakup, Miley Cyrus took a page out of Ariana Grande’s book and decided to release a perfectly timed heartbreak song. “Slide Away” discusses her relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth, mentioning how they’ve been together since they were kids and how now things have changed. Although this trend of mixing real life events with perfectly timed songs is confusing, “Slide Away” seems to be sincere. It also leaves a better and more layered impression than most of Cyrus’ last EP, which at times sound forced and fabricated.

Dogs Of Instagram: Newfoundland

Did you know? The Newfoundland dog is known for its water rescue abilities because of their muscular build, webbed feet, and swimming abilities.

The Newfoundland traces back to the old Great Pyrenees dogs of the 17th century, though wasn’t recognized as a breed until nearly 100 years later.

The Newfoundland dogs make great family pets with room to roam in colder climates. However, the breed does not tolerate heat well, so warmer climates are out of the question. Despite its massive size, one glance at a Newfie’s gentle expression and immediately it’s known this dog is of a sweet temperament.

We say, hey, to the sweetest Newfoundland dogs of Instagram.
