Robert Downey Jr.’s Massive ‘Avengers’ Payday; Meghan & Harry Take Private Chopper To Frogmore Cottage

Robert Downey Jr.’s massive ‘Avengers’ payday will shock you

Via Fox News:

Robert Downey Jr. made his first Marvel movie in 2008 and since then has been raking in the cash.

And with the tremendous success of the final Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, “Avengers: Endgame,” Iron Man himself is on pace to make the biggest salary of his long career.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the 54-year-old actor made around $75 million in for “Infinity War” because of a very unique financial arrangement he reportedly made with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

Downey Jr. gets backend pay which means he gets a percentage of the film’s box office success after it’s released, according to THR. “Infinity War” made more than $2 billion worldwide and “Endgame” has already earned more than $1.2 billion in its first weekend, so it’s safe to say his final check will be massive.

The star also negotiated a staggering $5 million a day for three days of work on the 2017 blockbuster, “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Meghan & Harry Take Private Helicopter To Frogmore Cottage

Is Meghan Markle in labor?

The Duchess of Sussex and husband Prince Harry took a private helicopter to their new home this Tuesday, April 30, sparking rumors that they’re getting ready to welcome their royal baby!

Meghan, 37, had been under 24-hour care and security at Kensington Palace as she awaited the birth of her first child, but it seems baby Sussex will be born later than expected.

This morning, Meghan and Harry, 34, took the royals’ Sikorsky S76 C++ chopper to their new Frogmore Cottage pad on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Their hush-hush trip came days after Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, flew to London to help with the birth.

“The fact heavily-pregnant Meghan is being allowed to fly, even at low altitudes in a helicopter, suggests her due date is far later than people thought,” a source exclusively told RadarOnline.com.

The palace insider said the couple’s last-minute trip could also mean she’s chosen Frimley Park Hospital to give birth as it is the maternity facility closest to their cottage.

There has also been speculation the former Suits actress could have a home birth, but the palace insider said there is “no chance” the family will allow her to, as the “safety of the royal baby is paramount.”

It was reported this week that Sunday, April 28, was Meghan’s official due date, but there are also rumors she is not set to have her baby until May 17.

As Radar readers know, Meghan has recruited her own team of U.S. medics to aid her during labor after learning the hospitals nearest to her London homes have been hit by a shocking string of health scares. The mom-to-be has four units to choose from for her upcoming first birth – but all were slammed by British government inspectors.

The Mulberry Birth Centre in Frimley Park Hospital is the closest maternity ward to the Duke and Duchess’ home at Windsor Castle, but the maternity unit reported a lack of midwives.

Grace And Frankie Weed Positive Or Weed Shaming?

Sometimes when a new show comes out where cannabis is used loud and proud, we get too excited about the content to judge the message that it’s sending. Hulu and Netflix in particular have been allowing more weed on the screen, and it’s thrilling in some regards. But when portraying cannabis use, network love to show marijuana’s faults more than anything else. Is Grace and Frankie weed positive or weed shaming?

Programs like Grace and Frankie have been breaking the typical TV mold as of late. Not only do they highlight atypical themes and subject matter, they showcase demographics that never seem to get their due anymore.

RELATED: Fearing The Possible Loss Of Your Favorite ‘GOT’ Character? You’re Not Alone

When you watch them, you’re able to feel emotions and joy, humanizing your Netflix experience. It was cool and funny to see Frankie’s character, played by Lily Tomlin, always using cannabis and encouraging others to do so. Her and Grace, played by another actor,, frequently butt heads about various types of drugs, but her daughters are Frankie’s go-to cannabis buds.

Watching women, especially older women, partake so openly in cannabis is thrilling, but there’s a bit too much leaning on the stoner stereotypes. Put simply, Frankie’s ‘bohemian’ character is a little bit intense sometimes. When she shares a potent edible with the typically uptight Robert, he loses their rescue dog. Sure, it’s meant as a set up to turn the tables and demonstrate how ‘odd couple’ types can learn from each other.

On the first watch, this seems like a harmless mischief device, but when you consider it a little deeper, this is yet another crack on ‘stoners’ and forgetfulness. Though it’s completely true that getting too medicated can cause you to be forgetful, and even to hallucinate, it doesn’t always have to be what happens to the person trying cannabis in the hands of the seasoned user.

None of the various ways that cannabis came up in the show were patently offensive, but if you’re seeing a bunch of white people use weed on TV, the responsibility to treat the portrayal with a bit more reverence should be there. Constantly showing people who use cannabis with either intentional or accidental excess on screen really needs to shift if we’re going to make any real progress on the stigma that sticks up legalization.

Writers and producers need to care more about how weed is shown to larger audiences. Not every flash of a beer or wine bottle is foreboding, and the same should be true of cannabis. Even on a show like Gracie and Frankie, which appears weed positive on the surface, cannabis being on a laugh track or a panic scene is really getting old.

Plastic Surgeons Are Sculpting Belly Fat Into Abs

Plastic and cosmetic surgeries have been around since the early years of medicine, so you can’t be that surprised to learn that specialists have discovered a way to sculpt abs out of belly fat. It was only a matter of time.

Researchers from the University of Miami have developed this new method of plastic surgery called abdominal etching. According to the Journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, abdominal etching is similar to power-assisted liposuction, utilizing the same tools in order to sculpt the patient’s layers of abdominal fat and accentuate the natural muscle lines of the abdomen. Patients can specify the look of their abs, choosing ones with soft definition or ones that look chiseled. Hip lines can also be reduced and defined in the procedure.

Despite all of this knowledge, the surgery is no miracle worker, and results work best when people lead active lifestyles. The original study was conducted on 50 patients who were in great shape, eating healthily and working out regularly. They agreed to have the surgery because they had pockets of fat that they had trouble getting rid of.

Surgeons explain that the post surgery process is long, involving the use of foam dressings for several weeks in order to preserve the abs and making regular visits to the doctor. Also, workouts need to be ongoing in order to maintain the surgery’s results.

We all know the difference between fat and muscle. The question is, are these abs poke-proof?

Prince William Made This Common Parenting Blunder

As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry expect the arrival of their first child any day now, a cautionary tale is making the rounds involving the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Royal, just like us, Prince William made this common parenting blunder.

Back in 2013, when Prince George was born, Kate Middleton and Prince William, proudly presented their newest bundle of joy to the public on the steps on the Lindo Wing, where he was born. Kate looked as fresh as ever, just hours after giving birth. And George was wrapped in a white blanket.

After the royal “show and tell” was over, William placed his newly born son into his car seat, still swaddled. And here lies the issue. Blankets can prohibit the buckles from properly doing their job.

According to ChildCarSeats.co.uk states, the seat belt should be worn as tight as possible.

“It should be quite tight, so that only one or two fingers can fit between the child’s chest and harness.”

According to Express.co.uk, a police agency in the Grampian, Scotland used the royal car seat blunder as an opportunity to remind parents to use car seats properly:

“They may not be third in line to the throne, but you need to make sure that your little prince or princess is sitting in the correct seat when travelling in your carriage (or family car),” they wrote on Facebook.

For what it’s worth, Prince William made this common parenting blunder, but he and Kate learned proper car seat precautions with their second child, Princess Charlotte.

How To Save Money While Prepping Your Weed Stash

Anyone who smokes flower knows that reaching into a jar for random sized nuggets every time you want to roll a joint yields mixed consistency. It’s way harder than we think to guess the weight of any given bud. Flower is one of the best ways you can get medicated, but if you have a heavy habit, it can be pricey, especially if you like the premium stuff.

Preparing your stash like a food prepper is an incredible way to learn how to budget, enforce it, and to make sure you’re sticking to your rations and not just overbuying to compensate for some generous blunts you rolled while partying last Saturday.

It’s easier than you think to prepare your week’s (or day’s or month’s even!) portioning to keep your dosing even and your wallet happy.

Gathering supplies is crucial. Anyone in an urban area can grab their rolling supplies on mostcorners, but if you’re not near a vendor, purchasing can be dicey. Ordering online from a trusted retailer is a good plan, and ordering in bulk is an even better one, blunts to bones.

Once you have your papers, cones, tips, wraps, or whatever you’re using, you can begin the process, but first you have to do a little bit of math. Your starting stash controls everything, but its ok if it’s big or small as long as you plan ahead. No matter what you’re working with, decide how big you need your joints, blunts, or bowls to be.

RELATED: The Essential Guide To Smoke Proofing Your Apartment

Though many store bought pre-rolls run 1-1.5grams a pop, that’s pretty exorbitant for an at home joint that you aren’t sharing or at least nursing for a few hours. .75 grams is a decently large home roll, while .25 makes a perfect pinner.

Weigh and grind up your material, then use a tray paired with a clean cup or folded paper to facilitate le stuffing. If you’re smoking bowls, you can leave the nuggets more intact if you wish, put them in a pill organizer to dispense the perfect amount each time.

Twisting up is the easy part if you’re already a regular. Pop everything on a small scale (with the container tared!) to get a rough idea of what you’re putting in each joint. You don’t have to be exact unless you want to be, a few milligrams more in either direction won’t make as much of a difference. Depending on your style, you can pre measure each joint or prepare little piles, just be sure to avoid the urge to light up the first one off the assembly line if you want to get it done quickly.

Try making the joints progressively fatter as the journey continues for a bit or variety, or having the occasional double strength bone for party passing. Best of all, you can incorporate concentrates to up the ante on anything you want to share or supercharge.

Another fun tip: if you have a kief catcher, use some concentrate to stick a bit of kief onto anything that looks extra fat for a fun boost, you should have more than usual if you’re rolling everything in one go.

Marijuana A Conditional Bar To Obtaining US Citizenship

On April 19, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it would formally update its Policy Manual regarding how cannabis-related activity–even when it took place in states that have legalized the medical and recreational use of marijuana–would impact naturalization.

The Policy Manual is self-defined by the USCIS as its centralized online repository for immigration policies. It serves as a guide for immigration officers to follow when adjudicating applications and petitions.

RELATED: California or New York, Which Has The Biggest Marijuana Mess

immigration cannabis marijuanaProhibited cannabis-related activity, as we explained previously, includes possession, prior use, as well as employment or investment in cannabis industry, each of which is deemed a violation of the federal Controlled Substances Act (CSA). In all, it’s a very broad array of exclusionary activity.

Lifetime bans on Canadians have increased public awareness that foreign nationals can be deemed inadmissible and refused entry into the U.S. based on their involvement in cannabis-related activity. It is not well-known, however, that such prohibitions may also affect lawful permanent residents of the U.S. (i.e. green card holders). The USCIS’s announcement on Friday, clarifying that cannabis-related activity (including activity that is legal under state law) creates a conditional bar on one’s eligibility to naturalize, is aimed at clarifying this misconception.

Naturalization is the process by which a green card holder can become a U.S. citizen upon meeting five core requirements: (1) be a green card holder for the statutory period (at least five years at the time of filing the naturalization application, or at least three years if the green card holder has been married to the same U.S. citizen spouse during that entire time); (2) be physically present in the U.S. for at least half of the applicable statutory period; (3) be continuously domiciled in the U.S. during the applicable statutory period; (4) possess “good moral character” (GMC); and, (5) demonstrate a willingness to actively support the Constitution of the U.S.

Of those prerequisites, the focus of this post is the GMC requirement. In order to demonstrate GMC, the applicant must demonstrate a lack of involvement in a series of unlawful activities ranging from felonies to a failure to register for Selective Service.

Murder and other felonies result in a permanent bar to naturalization, meaning that the applicant will forever fail the GMC requirement regardless of how far back in the past the criminal conduct took place.

Apart from felonies, the Policy Manual, in Part F, Chapter 5, includes a laundry list of criminal activities that result in a conditional bar to citizenship, meaning that such conduct within the statutory period will prevent an applicant from naturalizing. Cannabis-related activity is among those crimes.

It is important to note that the Policy Manual specifies that an applicant may be conditionally-barred from establishing GMC not just because of “a conviction” for a cannabis-related offense, but also for:

  • An “admission” to having committed such an offense;
  • An “admission to committing acts that constitute the essential elements of a violation of any controlled substance law”;
  • A “conviction or admission that the applicant has been a trafficker in a controlled substance, or benefited financially from a spouse or parent’s trafficking”; and even
  • “Possession of controlled substance related paraphernalia”.

Somewhere, Jeff Sessions is smiling. Failure to establish GMC for any of the above could not only result in a denial of the naturalization application, but also jeopardize the applicant’s ability to preserve the green card, and result in removal from the U.S.

RELATED: How To Be Discreet When Using Weed

The recent update to the Policy Manual also spells out the conditional bar to GMC applies even where the offense may have taken place in a state that has laws permitting “medical” or “recreational” use of marijuana because of its classification as a ‘Schedule I’ drug under the CSA. The updated Policy Manual language is crystal clear:

“Such an offense under federal law may include, but is not limited to, possession, manufacture or production, or distribution or dispensing of marijuana. For example, possession of marijuana for recreational or medical purposes or employment in the marijuana industry may constitute conduct that violates federal controlled substance laws. Depending on the specific facts of the case, these activities, whether established by a conviction or an admission by the applicant, may preclude a finding of GMC for the applicant during the statutory period….Note that even if an applicant does not have a conviction or make a valid admission to a marijuana-related offense, he or she may be unable to meet the burden of proof to show that he or she has not committed such an offense.”

A conditional bar is difficult to overcome because it requires the applicant to show “extenuating circumstance” about why a particular unlawful act was committed. Such extenuating circumstances must have occurred before or at the time the unlawful act was committed. The Policy Manual explicitly instructs officers to disregard any evidence of an applicant’s subsequent reform, or to evaluate any positive factors about the applicant’s character when making a decision on a naturalization application.

With its April 19, 2019 Policy Manual update, the USCIS has shown its zealous commitment to interpreting marijuana use under the 1971 federal CSA in spite of the tide of marijuana legalization that has swept nearly half the states in our union. It’s unfortunate, but green card holders and other affected parties should be warned.

Facebook Is Rolling Out A New ‘Secret Crush’ Feature

Facebook, as always, is trying to engage with all sorts of users. One of their latest developments is Facebook Dating, a service that aims to pair you up with people you’re already friends with.

One of Facebook Dating’s latest features is “Secret Crush,” allowing you to select up to nine people from your Friends list who you consider crush-worthy. These people will receive a notification that lets them know that one of their friends added them to their secret crush list. If the person(s) you selected also chooses you, your identities are revealed to each other.

For now, this feature, along with Facebook Dating, is only available in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and several countries in South America and Asia.

Secret Crush is intriguing, providing something that other dating apps can’t. While it’s always nice to meet new people on these apps, Facebook Dating allows you to choose from friends and people you already know and like – a notion that’s likely very enticing to teens and younger users.

Although plenty of people have more than enough reasons to doubt Facebook’s privacy and security, a company spokesperson explained that the secret crush feature won’t have an influence on users’ timeline or result in targeted ads. “All activity that occurs in FB Dating stays in FB Dating and will not be shared externally,” they explained to WIRED.

There’s no word on when Facebook Dating will roll out in the U.S..

James Harden’s Injury Inspired A Relatable Marijuana Meme

James Harden is one of the best basketball players alive right now. But as we learned with Michael Jordan and the crying MJ meme, this does not exclude the fearsome baller from becoming fodder for internet humor.

Harden suffered an eye injury during Houston’s Game 2 against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Semifinals. The injury forced him to temporarily leave the game, and when he returned, he was often see blinking, rubbing his eyes, struggling to see properly.

His eyes were abnormally bloodshot and watery as a result. This inspired many internet users to transform Harden’s misery into an innocuous meme about being too high in social situations.

https://twitter.com/Hovain/status/1123429345488527362

But for some, Harden didn’t remind them of being accidentally too stoned. Instead, he resembled Childish Gambino in his “This Is America” video.

Considering Childish Gambino, a.k.a. Donald Glover, is a known marijuana fan, we believe the joke of being too high applies here, too.

James Edward Harden Jr. is widely regarded as one of the greatest scorers and shooting guards in NBA history. In 2021, Harden was honored as one of the league’s top 75 players by being named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

Harden played college basketball for the Arizona State Sun Devils, where he was named a consensus All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2009. Harden was selected with the third overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Why Meghan And Harry Just Unfollowed Kate And William On Instagram

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined Instagram last month, they made headlines for accumulating a record-breaking number of followers. And now they’re making headlines once again, but this time, it’s for who they’re not following: the entire Royal Family.

The expectant parents launched their public Instagram account, @SussexRoyal, April 2 and quickly gained a million followers in less than six hours, landing it in the Guinness World Records.

But now eagle-eyed royal watchers have noticed that the couple has unfollowed basically all of their in-laws, including Prince William and Duchess Kate (@KensingtonRoyal), and the account of Prince Charles and Camilla (@ClarenceHouse). They’ve also unfollowed Princess EugeniePrince Andrew and the rest of the Royal Family (@TheRoyalFamily), which includes the Queen. When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Instagram, they had 23 followers and as of present time, they have just 16.

RELATED: Meghan And Harry Just Broke This Instagram Record

And before you start whispering “drama!!”, there’s a good reason. Megs and Harry explained in a post that they are only going to follow organizations close to their collective heart, and that list which will change each month based on whatever cause they are currently supporting. For instance, this month they are following accounts that promote mental wellness because May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

According to their post:

Each month we will honour this same concept and change the accounts we solely follow based on a different theme or cause. Please go to our homepage and click “following” to see each of the select accounts and find out more about their work.

For what it’s worth, both Kensington Royal and The Royal Family are both still following Sussex Royal.

Half Of Marijuana Users Think They Can Drive While Stoned — Is That Wrong?

Marijuana users report increase stimulation around various tasks after lighting up—working out, intimacy, eating munchies. But a new survey suggests that half of cannabis consumers thinks it’s okay to drive while high, an idea that’s more complex than you might assume.

Conducted in conjunction with PSB Research and Buzzfeed News, the poll demonstrated only 14% of people who abstained from cannabis use agreed that it was okay to drive while high. On the other hand, 56% of marijuana users felt comfortable getting in the car with a stoned driver while only 16% of non-users agreed with the sentiment.

Driving under the influence is something that should never be encouraged under normal circumstances. But the science and data regarding the safety of stoned drivers on the road isn’t so cut and dry. It’s true that THC impairs your motor and cognitive reactions, meaning your ability to counteract any dangers while driving would be slowed down. A meta-analysis of 60 studies “found that marijuana use causes impairment on every measure of safe driving, including motor-coordination, visual function and completion of complex tasks,” according to The Guardian.

RELATED: Study: Older Marijuana Users Are More Productive

Within the same breath, it’s also worth mentioning a 2010 study published in the American Journal of Addiction, which analyzed the effects of cannabis compared to alcohol when driving. Researchers found that “Because of […] an increased awareness that they are impaired, marijuana smokers tend to compensate effectively while driving by utilizing a variety of behavioral strategies.” This, in part, explains the polling results.

And while most would presume smoking marijuana would make anyone a more dangerous driver, researchers found this debatable in their testing. “Although cognitive studies suggest that cannabis use may lead to unsafe driving, experimental studies have suggested that it can have the opposite effect,” they concluded.

According to Buzzfeed, “some studies have found people with more than 5 nanograms of THC per milliliter of whole blood perform more poorly on impairment tests.” But Buzzfeed also mentions a 2017 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, which states that THC level alone “does not appear to be an accurate and reliable predictor of impairment.” This is what makes it so difficult to create legal cutoff limits for driving while high similar to the legal blood alcohol threshold law enforcement tests when examining drunk drivers.

RELATED: Study: Cannabis Use Affects Young Drivers Up To 5 Hours Afterwards

Back in 2017, a study conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found a small and significant increase in traffic collisions following recreational marijuana legalization in Colorado, Washington, and Oregon. But a study published around the same time narrowed its focus to fatal crashes—which is more concerning to the public safety—and discovered that marijuana legalization did not increase the number of fatal car collisions.

To tie this all together, Addiction published a report earlier this year that corroborated an increase in traffic deaths following marijuana legalization. But researchers discovered that after the first few months of legalization, deadly car crashes had a stark dropoff and returned to their previous rates.

There’s no easy answer when examining the relationship between marijuana legalization and car crashes. More research is needed to determine exactly how smoking cannabis affects drivers, and what possible limit could be set to ensure the safety for everyone on the road.
