This Couple Has Created A Sex-On-Demand Button

So much for foreplay.  A couple, married for 15 years, has created a “love button” that signals to your partner when you want to have sex.

Ryan and Jenn Cmich created LoveSync about a year ago when, according to Jenn, “our relationship was in a little bit of a lull.”

Ryan says he was lying in bed one night and found himself thinking that “there’s a good chance that [Jenn’s] stressed about work, tired, and just not interested in having a little fun. But I couldn’t help but think maybe I’m wrong. And maybe she was thinking the same thing that I was. Maybe we were missing out.”

He admits to being a little bit of a wuss since making his desire known to his wife made him vulnerable to rejection “or worse, I add to her stress by making her feel bad that she’s shooting me down.” And while no babies were conceived that night, LoveSync was born!

Fortunately, Ryan is a robotics engineer so he was able to design a device that lets you know when your partner wants to have sex. Communication in a relationship is so 2018.

Here’s how LoveSync works.

Step 1: Place a button on each one of your nightstands.

Step #2:

Step 3: Similar to Tinder, if your partner also taps the button, it’s go time! If they don’t? Sorry, loser.

According to the product’s Kickstarter page, “It provides the most benefit for couples who tend to not be as frequently outward about their sexual desires, BUT even those with above average drive have room to improve!”

The couple exceeded their Kickstarter goal of $7,500 in just two days.

Spike Jonze And Jesse Williams Are Shooting A Secret Project For MedMen

If you want people to watch a short film about your product, you hire Spike Jonze. The legendary filmmaker behind “Her” and “Being John Malkovich” started as an in-demand music video director in the 1990s, working with a variation of iconic artists including Kanye West, The Beastie Boys, Arcade Fire, R.E.M. Beck, and more. He’s taken a recent turn into directing short films with celebrities that act as branded content for various companies.

MedMen, one of the biggest names in cannabis, took notice and recruited Jonze to direct such a short film featuring “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jonze and Williams were seen last week in Los Angeles shooting for the project.

Here’s what Hollywood Reporter found out about the premise of the film:

Little is known about the short film aside from this basic plot: The project chronicles the history of cannabis in America from the pre-prohibition era through today. MedMen is often referred to as “the Apple of weed,” and the company maintains 19 licensed locations in California, New York, Nevada, Florida and Arizona, per its website.

Previously, Jonze has memorably partnered with Margaret Qualley for fashion house Kenzo, FKA Twigs for Apple’s HomePod, and Idris Elba for Squarespace. We were big fans of the bonkers Qualley-Jonze production, so our hopes are high for the MedMen production.

MedMen found itself in hot water this month following allegations from former CFO James Parker, who claimed higher-ups at the company used racially inappropriate slurs and demeaning language to Parker. He also alleges the company asked him to engage in shady business practices and went behind his back in searching for a new CFO.

“These are baseless claims and we’ll defend ourselves vigorously in court,” MedMen spokesman Daniel Yi said.

However, these allegations were serious enough for the New York Cannabis Industry Association to sever ties with the company. MedMen, with its “Apple Store Of Weed” on Fifth Ave., has firmly established itself in the New York market in recent years. A short film from Spike Jonze will surely help rehabilitate MedMen’s image, though how the company responds to these allegations will be more important for its brand moving forward.

MedMen Facing Serious Backlash Following Allegations Of Racism

MedMen, the California-based cannabis firm that has made headlines over the past year for securing the Woodstock logo and seeking the exclusive rights to the word “cannabis,” is now in the news over allegations of racism and other unsavory behavior. This supposed corruption among the company’s leading executives, made public in a lawsuit filed by former MedMen CFO James Parker, was deep enough for the New York Cannabis Industry Association (NYMCIA) to sever ties with the company earlier this week.

It’s a smear that threatens the company’s position in the Empire State. Just last year, MedMen opened a revolutionary new cannabis dispensary on Fifth Avenue in New York City, a spot that has been deemed “The Apple Store of Weed,” with plans to open additional locations throughout the metropolis soon. As of now, the company holds 10 cannabis dispensary licenses in New York state.

There are obvious risks to the life of any business that engages in the cultivation and sale of marijuana – namely things like market uncertainty and DEA raids — but name calling doesn’t rank high on the list.

Nevertheless, the lawsuit alleges that MedMed CEO Adam Bierman once referred to a Los Angeles city councilman as a “midget negro,” and that comment has been enough to squash company’s standing with the NYMCIA.

“The [New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association] has a zero-tolerance discrimination policy for any of our members who engage in this type of despicable behavior,” the NYMCIA wrote to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other state officials.

This is not the first time the company has been faced with a lawsuit. Several others have been filed against MedMed over the past several months, some of which are claims made by former employees over unpaid wages.

Although MedMed was initially asked to step down from its place with the NYMCIA, the company refused. It was ultimately forced out over what it calls frivolous allegations. But just in case there is a chance it can get back in, company representatives handled the removal with diplomacy.

“We still support the org (NYMCIA) and its cause,” MedMen spokesman Daniel Yi told the New York Daily News. “We have already addressed these allegations publicly. They are patently false. They were made by a disgruntled employee and are untrue.”

MedMed will continue its work in New York in hopes of getting in on the deal once the state makes a move to legalize the leaf for recreational consumption. Governor Cuomo has proposed such a deal – something that is expected to be sealed up by the end of 2019 – yet there have been some snags.

More on this issues is supposed to be hashed out later this week when legislative forces gather to discuss making legal weed part of this year’s state budget.

Lady Gaga Defends Cardi B After Some Suggest the Rapper Didn’t Deserve Her Win at the Grammys

The “Shallow” singer, who earned three Grammy wins on Sunday night, came to the defense of Cardi B after the 26-year-old “I Like It” rapper was criticized after her best rap album win.

Alongside a photo of the pair together at the awards show, Gaga, 32, wrote a supportive message to Cardi and encouraged social media users to “lift her up” in a tweet posted on Tuesday evening.

“It is so hard to be a woman in this industry. What it takes, how hard we work through the disrespectful challenges, just to make art,” she wrote on Twitter.

“I love you Cardi. You deserve your awards. Let’s celebrate her fight,” Gaga added. “Lift her up & honor her. She is brave.”

Michelle Obama’s mom was not impressed by her Grammys gig: ‘Did you meet any of the real stars?’

While the former FLOTUS scored a standing ovation as she helped open Sunday’s show alongside Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys, a text she’s shared from her mom, Marian Robinson, undoubtedly put her ego in check.

“I guess you were a hit at the Grammys,” Robinson, who quietly lived in the White House during former President Barack Obama‘s two terms, wrote her famous daughter.

She goes on to text that she watched the awards show, then delivers this cutting remark: “Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done?”

Her daughter evidently wasn’t stung by the remark, joking, “I am a real star … by the way.”

Robinson’s deadpan response: “Yeah.”

Certain Video Games Encourage Creative Thinking In Teens

Stress over technology has steadily climbed higher and higher on parents’ lists of fears. While no studies have proven that video games mess with kids’ brains or encourage violent behavior, parents still fear their addictive traits. They also worry about the damage video games do to developing brains.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. While excessive gaming has been correlated to loneliness and depression, a healthy amount of game time is associated to positive thinking and creativity. A study from the University of Oxford claims that video games’ effects on teens and kids is hard to measure, demonstrating many contradictory conclusions.

RELATED: How Long Can Fortnite Last?

According to experts, video games that encourage kids to think outside of the box and feature interesting story lines are good for them, encouraging creative thinking and developing areas of their brains they don’t normally use.

“A lot of good games are intricate systems. They’re like digital machines kids can tinker with and poke at,” said Tanner Higgins in an interview with the New York Post.

According to the study, these type of positive games amount to around 40% of the video games on the market. While there are games out there labeled as educational, these provide less positive results, resulting in tedious activities that act as extensions from school work.

“You want to get kids thinking a bit more deeply about what they’re experiencing,” Higgins says.

He suggests that instead of having parents recoil and fear video games, they should try to get more involved. Instead ask your kids why they enjoy them, how they’ll solve the problems presented, and what they get out of playing.

Inside Thailand’s First Licensed Cannabis Plantation

In December 2018, Thailand became the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize cannabis for research and medicinal use. Now, plants are finally being cultivated at the government-owned and operated Royal Agriculture Pangda in Samoeng, an agricultural region within the Chiang Mai Province in northern Thailand.

While this marks tremendous progress in the region, recreational possession, and usage of cannabis remains illegal and banned in Thailand. “We will make the public understand that it’s for medical purposes only, not for recreation,” said Niyom Termsrisuk, the Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board of Thailand.

Now, countries like the Philippines and Malaysia are considering initiatives to legalize medicinal marijuana, possibly marking a major turning point in Southeast Asia’s long-standing war on weed.

5 Dating Red Flags To Watch For According To Divorce Lawyers

0

When looking for dating advice, divorce lawyers aren’t the first people that come to mind, but they have spent their fair share of time in the presence of struggling couples. While lawyers are not therapists or relationship experts, they should have enough information to help those who are looking for a partner steer clear of people that display clear warning signs.

The Huffington Post interviewed different divorce lawyers on possible red flags, and the advice that they’ve accumulated over the years. Check out some of their best tips:

They’re ready for the next step immediately

Being completely sure that you’re ready to get married to someone you just met isn’t a good thing, even though it sounds kind of romantic. Specialist Liat Sadler says: “It may be an indicator, instead, that this person feels familiar, like old patterns, old obsessions and old problems.”

She recommends looking for someone who at first might not seem like a great fit but who later pushes you and helps you become the best version of yourself.

Lying on their dating profile

https://giphy.com/gifs/thehills-the-hills-1×05-105-xT5LMI6A1C35L80TMA

Although it’s common for people to paint themselves on a better light while creating a dating profile, when most of the traits that they brag about are fiction it means that person isn’t trustworthy. It’s important to be honest right from the beginning, at least about the personality determining characteristics.

They consider themselves victims of past exes

https://giphy.com/gifs/season-17-the-simpsons-17×14-3orieSYGRGIT0EV7e8

“If your date describes every single one of their exes as ‘crazy,’ it’s a sign that they cannot take responsibility for their role in relationships,” says Morghan Richardson. This is pretty obvious. Although each relationship is different, we tend to repeat patterns. If the person you’re dating is unable to take any responsibility from past relationships, there’s no reason why they’d do so with you.

Their financial life is a mess

It’s common to joke about being broke (millennials, am I right?) but you must be wary of people who invite you out to dinner but then have no money to pay for their electricity bill. You don’t want to be with someone who’ll drag you down and become a nuisance in terms of money.

They want to spend all of their time together

https://giphy.com/gifs/damon-wayans-jr-happy-endings-eliza-coupe-ug5iuIAfwfCMw

When people are involved in long term relationships they adapt traits from each other. It’s natural and nice, but there must always be space for them to be individuals first, and have interests of their own. According to Sadler, relationships that start out this way can later become volatile and even violent. “It’s dangerous to date from a place of desperation to be in a relationship. It can feel like a torrid love affair when suddenly you and your new fling are spending every minute together.”

Vape Pens And How One Company Is Capitalizing On The Trend

The vape pen category has shown enormous growth in the cannabis industry, but not all vapes are created equal. Consumers are also beginning to show a preference in their purchasing habits when it comes to vapes as well. Kurvana has kept an eye on these trends and has managed to make a product to satisfy multiple consumers.

Cowen & Co.’s senior analyst Vivien Azer wrote that vape pens have grown their dollar share from 5.8% of the market in January 2016 to 14.7% in May 2018. Vapes have become the number two form factor in the cannabis industry trailing only flower, which commands a robust 52% of the market. However, flower sales have been losing ground to the vape pen sales.

Azer also determined that pricing varies for vape pens according to the market. For example, a vape pen in Washington state averages $26.31, while in Nevada that number jumps to $49.14. Consumers are also demanding to know more about their vape pens as the market gets flooded with products from dubious sources. Some companies buy their hardware from China from the same manufacturers that make e-cigarettes, but tobacco oil is thinner than cannabis oil, so additives are introduced in order to use the hardware.

Kurvana sources only the highest quality raw flower from organically grown cannabis, provided by trusted farmers well known to the industry. Kurvana uses a proprietary 50-step process to purify the essential cannabinoids, tasty terpenes, and natural ingredients that contribute to the unique experience of vaping with full spectrum Kurvana oil. They never introduce extra terpenes or additives of any kind, because they distract from the plant’s original essence.

Consumers are also leaning more towards mood based vape pens versus strain based. Kurvana has captured both sides of this market. The ASCND pens offer 10 different strains that are clearly marked as to whether it is indica, sativa or a hybrid. Then the company’s website breaks it down even further into an easy to follow chart so that consumers can locate the symptom they want to address and find the pen to best address it.

The products are only available in California at this time, but with this is a high potency, attractive pen with a great taste that consumers will want to find.

Is FDA Behind The Latest CBD Crackdown?

There is local and state level crackdown presently underway on the popular cannabis extract cannabidiol—commonly known as CBD—because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants all food products containing this substance to go through the federal approval process before it is sold to the public. Maine, Ohio and New York City have all imposed bans on CBD, citing the FDA’s vague rules. Other states, including North Carolina, have also joined in. It remains uncertain just how far this backlash will go before it is all said and done, and the FDA isn’t helping much to provide clarity.

In those areas affected by the CBD debacle, health officials are placing these products under embargo. Although this doesn’t mean the products are being confiscated, it does prohibit them from being sold to the public. Some states haven’t taken it to the level of stuffing CBD in plastic bags, but they have written warning letters insisting that these products be pulled from the shelves.

RELATED: What Does The FDA Really Think About Medical Marijuana?

The bulk of the problem apparently stems from the language of the Federal Food, Drug, & Cosmetic Act, which has strict rules on adding medicinal components to food. The FDA is also not very keen on businesses making health claims about CBD products that are not approved by the agency.

“There is ongoing communication with state and local officials to answer questions about the requirements under the FD&C Act, to better understand the landscape at the state level, and to otherwise engage with our state/local regulatory partners,” a spokesperson for the FDA told Inverse. “FDA will also continue to closely scrutinize products that could pose risks to consumers. In particular, the agency continues to be concerned at the number of drug claims being made about products not approved by the FDA that claim to contain CBD or other cannabis-derived compounds.”

But is this CBD crackdown just the result of state and local level paranoia or is the FDA itself behind it? So far, no one knows. One thing is sure, however—many of the businesses affected by the CBD ban believe it is just another government tactic intended to capitalize on a product that is gaining commercial momentum all across the country. Some think it’s just their way of weaseling in and making the CBD market one that only large corporations can afford involvement.

This dust-up took hold after the Congress passed the latest Farm Bill in December that legalized industrial hemp nationwide. Although CBD can be extracted from the cannabis plant itself, it can also be squeezed from hemp in lower concentrations.

Shortly after the farm bill was signed into law, the FDA published a statement intended for those companies that manufacture CBD products. It was a message to the industry, one that made it relatively clear that if they were going to call CBD “medicine,” they were going to be forced to play ball in the same way pharmaceutical companies.

RELATED: FDA Commissioner Outlines Pathways For CBD In Food And Supplements

“Cannabis and cannabis-derived products claiming in their marketing and promotional materials that they’re intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of diseases (such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, psychiatric disorders and diabetes) are considered new drugs or new animal drugs and must go through the FDA drug approval process for human or animal use before they are marketed in the U.S,” Comissioner Scott Gottlieb said in a statement.

Let’s be clear, the CBD ban does not involve all products. For now, it appears to be focused only on CBD-infused food items. And the ban has not yet taken hold nationwide—only a few states and NYC have embraced it. However, there is a distinct possibility that more jurisdictions will follow suit in the coming weeks and months unless the FDA provides additional guidance.

Congress Takes Initial Steps Into Cannabis Banking Legislation

On Wednesday this week, Congress will hold a hearing on banking services for the cannabis industry. This is the first hearing to be held by the new Congress that will begin tackling the issue of banking for cannabis companies.

Businesses that work in states where cannabis has been legalized continue to struggle with financial institutions. The major credit card companies of Mastercard and Visa refuse to work with cannabis companies since it is still a federally illegal product. The major banks in this country also decline to bank these companies even though some are publicly traded entities with market capitalizations in the billions. Cannabis companies have turned to local banks and credit unions for their banking needs. Payment options are a pieced together with various solutions, but they aren’t ideal.

Attorney Brady Cobb met with House lawmakers last week and is actively engaged with the legislative process. “With the opposition out of the way, we can finally make some progress,” said Cobb. He was referring to the ouster of Pete Sessions, who continually refused to bring cannabis legislation to the floor for a vote. Cobb said that the committee’s existing members were supportive and expect new members to be positive as well. The hearing will be available on CSPAN.

RELATED: Former House Speaker John Boehner Leads New National Lobbying Group In Washington

This comes on the heels of the creation of a new lobbying group called the National Cannabis Roundtable that is being chaired by former Speaker of the House John Boehner. The Speaker sits on the board of Acreage Holdings Inc. (ACRG.U). That group is also working towards getting laws changed to favor more traditional banking.

Marijuana Moment reported that the people scheduled to testify include Corey Barnette, owner of the District Growers Cultivation Center and Metropolitan Wellness Center, which produce and sell medical cannabis in D.C., California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Rachel Pross, the chief risk officer at the Oregon-based Maps Credit Union and Greg Deckard of State Bank Northwest in Washington State representing The Independent Community Bankers of America. In addition to that, Major Neill Franklin, a retired Maryland police officer who serves as the executive director of Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP) looks to be on board.

While it would be great news for cannabis companies and dispensary owners to finalize use a major bank or take a debit card for a transaction, it could spell trouble for others. A whole cottage industry has sprung up in order to solve the banking problems for cannabis companies. It’s possible that by opening up the system, these companies stand a chance of getting acquired by bigger banks who want to get a quick foot in the door.
