6 Top CBD Tinctures On The Mass Market Today

Cannabidiol, or CBD, has become a widespread phenomenon in the medical marijuana sector. Known for being the non-psychoactive cannabinoid with properties that ease inflammation, anxiety, and depressive tendencies, CBD has been shown to be a miracle for the treatment of severe seizure disorder.

While most of the CBD cleared to be sold in all 50 states has zero percent THC, they can come with other non-psychoactive cannabinoids for an entourage effect. Even CBD alone, when concentrated and extracted from organic, sustainably grown hemp, can be taken medicinally by including it in a daily regimen to fight off social jitters, seasonal blues or even joint inflammation. These 6 CBD tinctures may be just what the doctor ordered for continuous use.

There are 25 mg per serving of the extra strength formula of Charlotte’s Web. Known as the strain that cured a little girl named Charlotte Figi from Dravet syndrome, which she’d suffered from since a little baby. There’s a big difference from the original strain here, though, and that’s the small amount of THC thought to activate higher properties in CBD. This is a pricy tincture, but one that can be added easily to beverages as well as be taken straight.

Highland Pharms 15K+ Hemp Oil Drops

A little drop’ll do ya from this 120ml, 15,000 mg CBD and other hemp component packed tincture. Running at just under $800 right now, this tincture is not for the experimental stage of dropping CBD, unless recommended by your cannabis doctor. Each drop, not dropper full, contains a little under 7 mg of CBD, but there are around 2400 drops in each bottle. It should last quite some time on top of being highly concentrated.

Meme Of The Week: ‘Detective Pikachu’ Is The Internet’s Latest Obsession

Pokemon has been around since the 90s, with an anime that marked many childhoods and video games that are still played to this day. The release of Pokemon Go in 2016 lead to a rebirth of Pokemon interest, with people referring to this short period of time as simpler, when politics and the state of the world took a back seat to the 4 mile road you had to walk in order to catch a Charmander.

The success of Pokemon Go opened the doors to Detective Pikachu, the first live-action Pokemon movie ever, showing us how these creatures would look if they were to exist in the real world. By the looks of the trailer, Detective Pikachu is bound to be one of the strangest and most profitable movies of 2019.

The trailer has been trending since its release and audiences are much more excited than what was initially predicted. I guess no one really believed in Detective Pikachu until they saw how cute he looked with a cap on.

The Detective Pikachu memes are all over the place, referencing previous popular memes like Same Energy, Shocked Pikachu, and, A Star Is Born. For some reason, Jigglypuff, depicted as a realistic pink ball of fur who can sing, reminds a lot of people of Lady Gaga’s Ally. Pikachu has taken the inevitable role of Bradley Cooper’s Jackson Maine, and the rest is meme history. Check out some of our favorites:

Massachusetts Will Finally Have Legal Marijuana Sales By End Of Month

After two years of waiting, having passed a recreational/retail cannabis law, Massachusetts dispensaries are now only one more step away from opening, and it’s a mercifully short step to take. As owners await their notices to commence operation, the rest of Mass waits too, to finally be able to walk up to a counter and purchase flowers, concentrates, edibles and more.

What You Need To Know

To start with, all purchasers and customers at the soon to be open dispensaries must be 21+ and though you don’t have to live in The Bay State, you need to have a government issued ID on you. A $100 penalty awaits anyone under 21 in the possession of cannabis and anyone under 18 will also face a drug awareness program.

Who’s Got The Go-Ahead?

Three dispensaries have already received their retail licenses and are ready to hit the ground running. NETA in Northampton has its retail location in the same building as its medical dispensary, with medical to the left and retail to the right. Cultivate is also opening in the same space as its medical dispensary and Pharmacannis Massachusetts is set to open on Main Street. More licenses are coming down the pike and they should be coming fairly quickly.

So What Are The Limits?

According to state law, an ounce of flower and 5 grams of concentrates is the max amount of cannabis product you can possess outside of the home, so those are the numbers at the registers, too. A nice part about the law is that it also allows you to “gift” another person up to an ounce. When the retail stores first open their doors however, expect quantity limits so that everyone gets something. Supply and demand are in a race to keep up with each other.

Expect To Wait In Line

One thing’s almost certain, after all the anticipation and waiting, there are bound to be long lines at the new retail locations as they open up for business. Traffic could be an issue as well, but dispensaries are optimistic. “We expect it to be busy but well managed,” Amanda Rositano, director of compliance for NETA, told The Republican/MassLive.

Ariana Grande Just Debuted Dramatic New Haircut After Pete Davidson Split

Ariana is reinventing herself following her recent split from Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson.

The singer debuted a fresh new hairstyle on Friday afternoon by sharing a photo of herself on Instagram, with bunny ears of course. While the lack of her signature ponytail was glaringly obvious, Ari wanted her fans to know she still has her eyebrows, even though it may not look like it. “this filter took my eyebrows away but i promise they’re there,” she said.

The 25-year-old has been all about self-care since she and Pete shockingly called off their engagement in October. Then, just days later she released her new hit single “Thank U, Next,” where she talks about how she is learning to love herself.

NASA Publishes Photo Of ‘Mysterious Creature’ In The Clouds Of Jupiter

NASA recently revealed a gorgeously scary image captured by Juno, a spacecraft that’s circling and gathering data on Jupiter. The photo was captured on October 29, when Juno was around 4,400 miles away from the planet.

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Twitter account uploaded the image, asking Twitter for some opinions on the crazy looking subject. They suggested that the giant blob was a space dragon’s eye, which is awesome but scary as hell.

The tweet sparked the imagination of many Twitter users, who gave out random and crazy answers, comparisons to paintings, movies and animals, creative drawings, and more.

According to NASA, the image depicts nothing as crazy as a wild creature or a space dragon; it’s simply a shot of some Jupiter clouds and an anticyclonic storm. Because Jupiter is very dramatic, these clouds look like the end of the world. “Appearing in the scene are several bright-white ‘pop-up’ clouds as well as an anticyclonic storm, known as a white oval,” explains NASA.

The Juno spacecraft was launched in 2011, undergoing a five-year journey in order to land on Jupiter in July 2016. The spacecraft’s mission is planned to conclude in 2021, where it’ll have gathered considerable data on the planet which has remained very mysterious for us here on Earth.

Via NASA:

Juno’s principal goal is to understand the origin and evolution of Jupiter. Underneath its dense cloud cover, Jupiter safeguards secrets to the fundamental processes and conditions that governed our solar system during its formation. As our primary example of a giant planet, Jupiter can also provide critical knowledge for understanding the planetary systems being discovered around other stars.”

We can expect crazy pictures like this until Juno wraps up its journey. In the meantime, you can follow @NASAJPL on social media. What they publish is pretty complex stuff, but the photos are great.

Google Trends Can Help You Avoid Traffic During Thanksgiving Week

Thanksgiving week is unlike most other more predictable weeks. For starters, there’s less work because you get two much needed days off, and then there’s also a lot of traffic due to a myriad of reasons: people need to do their last minute shopping, they have to buy groceries for their family dinners, they want to go out for a drink, and/or they’re on their way to a trip.

Whether you’re meeting up with friends, family, taking a road trip or watching a parade, odds are you’ll spend a good amount of time in your car.

Google Maps has got your back, designing a website that tells you everything you need to know come Thanksgiving week. ‘Mapping Thanksgiving’ highlights the most popular spots in your city, letting you know which areas will be good places to hang out at, and other areas that you should avoid. Check out some of the most helpful findings.

Traffic varies depending on the state where you live, but most states have in common a few things: the highest amount of traffic occurs the night before Thanksgiving, where people are leaving town. Thursday is always a slow traffic day, with Friday returning to a more normal and predictable pattern. Sundays are also days where there’s high amounts of traffic, since people will be returning home from their trips.

If you need even more specificity, Google allows you to enter your city, suggesting the best time for you to leave before Thanksgiving and the best time for you to return home.

Popular visit spots

The Google graph shows the most popular spots on Thanksgiving week. Bakeries are packed on Wednesdays, especially during noon. So are grocery stores, showing large amounts of traffic until late night. Shopping centers are also popular on Wednesday and Fridays. Movie theaters get a large amount of visits on Black Friday, especially for the last show of the day.

Meghan Markle Won’t Be Opening Gifts On Christmas And Here’s Why

0

This year marks a special Christmas for Meghan Markle, who is officially a royal. And as she’s probably used to by now, there are some American traditions she is going to have to set aside as she adjusts to becoming a Duchess.

She has already been told she can’t have a baby shower or even custody of her own child. And now, it should come as no surprise to anyone that she is also not allowed to open presents on Christmas morning.

According to the Royal Family’s website:

On Christmas Eve, The Royal Family lay out their presents on trestle tables and will exchange their gifts at teatime.

The Royal Family traditionally spends Christmas and New Year at Sandringham House. The Queen’s country estate in Norfolk. During the sixties, when Her Majesty’s children were small, many Christmases were celebrated at Windsor Castle, where The Royal Family spends Easter. But since 1988, when the castle was being rewired, Royal Christmases returned to Sandringham.

All members of The Royal Household will also receive Christmas presents from The Queen, and on December 25, Her Majesty will personally hand out presents to some members of The Royal Household at Buckingham Palace and at Windsor Castle.

Last year, while Markle was still Prince Harry’s fiancé, Queen Elizabeth broke protocol by allowing her to join the royal family for Christmas. It was untraditional in the sense that Markle wasn’t officially married into the royal family yet.

Markle also attended Christmas morning service with Harry and his family at St. Mary Magadalene Church. For comparison, Kate Middleton was not invited to spend Christmas with Prince William’s family following the couple’s 2010 engagement.

Bipartisan Legislation Would Push Veterans Closer To Medical Marijuana Access

An unlikely pair of bipartisan lawmakers introduced legislation Wednesday that would reform the Department of Veteran Affairs’ medical marijuana practices. The trio of bills from Reps. Matthew Gaetz (R-FL) and Seth Moulton (D-MA) would force the VA’s hands to include medical cannabis.

Specifically, the legislation would ensure protection for veterans open about their medical marijuana usage, enact a national survey to understand how many veterans want or use medical cannabis and for what purposes, and partner the VA with medical universities focused on medical marijuana education, which would be provided to veterans.

“Our veterans are seeking alternative options to opioids, and we should be supporting their desires not to be addicted to painkillers,” Moulton said in a statement. “Let’s not kid ourselves, people are using marijuana—including our veterans. We have an obligation to regulate it and make it as safe as possible.”

Similar legislation involving the VA and medical cannabis have been introduced to the House before and failed. Gaetz himself is responsible for some of those attempts. But with the Democrats taking control of the House and anti-cannabis crony Pete Sessions losing his gatekeeping position as chairman of the House Rules Committee, the team behind the bills is more hopeful than ever.

“Medical cannabis has tremendous potential for veterans. It can reduce chronic pain, without the harmful side effects of opioids, and some early reports indicate that it may even have potential as a treatment for PTSD,” Gaetz said in a statement. “Unfortunately, many veterans fear discussing medical cannabis with their doctors, for fear that their benefits will be jeopardized.”

According to an American Legion survey, one in five veterans currently uses cannabis to treat a medical condition. The same survey also states that 92 percent of veteran households support research into the efficacy of medical cannabis for mental and physical ailments.

Cannabis: Optimal Treatment Method For Post-Concussion Syndrome Symptoms

Contact sports, falls, head injuries, trauma, and motor vehicle accidents all have one thing in common: traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and/or concussions. Something that many of you may not know is how concussions occur and the negative impact they have on the brain.

A concussion can be defined as a mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), which can be caused by a blow to the head, a strong yet direct jolt, or a powerful bump to the head or body. This results in the brain shaking and moving quickly within the skull. Generally, concussions result in changes regarding how the brain typically functions as well as various potentially life-altering health issues. Not everyone who experiences concussions develop a traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, roughly 40-80 percent of people who endure a concussion develop post-concussion syndrome.

Background Information About Post-Concussion Syndrome

Years ago, it was found that cognitive dysfunction, losing consciousness, and certain mental conditions were linked to strong blows to one’s head. From here, the aftermath could be chronic, severe, or acute. Aside from just the direct head impact, the shaking motion that occurs from concussions could damage the brain inside the skull.

Several decades back, medical imaging was very different than what it is today, and it used to be difficult to distinguish the parts of the brain were the most affected by concussions. Nowadays though, CT scans and MRI scans of the brain can be done to properly diagnose concussions or traumatic brain injuries.

Regarding the diagnosis of post-concussion syndrome, it typically depends on variables such as if the individual has a history of concussions and/or if they experienced specific behavioral changes that were associated with and/or occurred after enduring a concussion. Once a head injury occurs, developing post-concussion syndrome is likely. Also, many of its symptoms can stick around for days, weeks, or months. One silver lining is that there are symptoms that help distinguish whether someone has post-concussion syndrome or not. Several of these symptoms include the following:

  • Dizziness and vertigo
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Interruptions with sleeping patterns
  • Headaches
  • Restlessness
  • Personality changes
  • Memory loss
  • Increased sensitivity to sound and light

If one endures a head injury including a concussion, they normally experience at least three of the symptoms listed above. If so, this indicates a post-concussion syndrome diagnosis.

Overall, post-concussion syndrome occurs after sustained brain damage thus causing internal bleeding and swelling. Then, inflammation adds pressure to the brain, which can result in headaches and other painful symptoms. However, the shaking motion a concussion causes can change one’s brain chemistry. Currently, it’s evident that once a concussion occurs, the body’s neurotransmitters are substantially impacted. This then leads to experiencing various post-concussion syndrome symptoms. Unfortunately, though, once brain tissue is injured, it cannot be fully repaired.

Current Post-Concussion Syndrome Treatment Options

Moreover, regarding the treatment of this syndrome, the main intention is alleviating its symptoms. In most cases, the symptoms last a few weeks or months. During this time, cannabis and cannabinoids like Cannabidiol (CBD) can be very useful. Fortunately, cannabis contains numerous medicinal properties as well as therapeutic benefits thus lessening physical, mental, and psychological issues.

Besides cannabis and CBD being used as a form of treatment for post-concussion syndrome symptoms, there are other conventional treatment methods available. For example, cognitive impairments are common with post-concussion syndrome, but they can get resolved on their own with time. To help treat cognitive impairments though, one option is to undergo cognitive therapy. Certain strategies can be utilized such as taking notes, using electronic reminders/alerts, and practicing memory exercises.

Furthermore, the most common emotional and mental post-concussion syndrome symptoms are anxiety and depression. To help treat anxiety and depression, many doctors recommend drug therapies, psychotherapy, and behavioral therapies. However, numerous doctors prescribe pharmaceutical medications and physical forms of therapy to help alleviate several painful symptoms. Sadly, there’s no guarantee that these treatment methods will deliver zero side effects, nor will they be completely effective. For these reasons, more people are transitioning into alternative forms of medicine like cannabis.

Cannabis and CBD to Treat Post-Concussion Syndrome Symptoms

As mentioned above, cannabis and CBD possess numerous medically and therapeutically beneficial properties. Generally, most people with post-concussion syndrome experience headaches and pain, which cannabis can relieve because of its analgesic properties. Although some pharmaceutical medications can help relieve pain, others can make headaches worse, and several can be addictive, non-effective, and deliver side effects. Whereas, cannabis and CBD are safe, non-toxic, medically beneficial, deliver little to no side effects, and you cannot overdose from it.

Additionally, regarding post-concussion syndrome, it’s essential to be aware of the chemical damage that’s done to the brain. Fortunately, cannabis can deliver relief while lessening brain swelling, pain, and inflammation. Also, when a significant brain injury occurs, toxic chemicals are released. However, cannabis can work to clear out those toxic chemicals while protecting the brain by utilizing its neuroprotective properties.

Next, cannabis can increase the amount of blood that travels to the brain. This is especially useful since the blood brings both nutrients and oxygen to the brain thus speeding up the healing process. Cannabis can even transport toxins and other harmful byproducts away from the brain.

Then, cannabis can deliver anti-anxiety and anti-depressant properties to individuals. Although cannabis isn’t a cure for post-concussion syndrome, it can significantly alleviate several unwanted symptoms while delivering very few side effects.

Optimal Cannabis Strains for Post-Concussion Syndrome Symptom Treatment

Overall, there are various cannabis strains that can help alleviate post-concussion syndrome symptoms. High CBD and low THC strains are recommended for strictly medical and therapeutic properties minus a euphoric high. However, if someone struggles with depression and/or appetite issues, higher THC strains may work better. Generally, these strains can help lessen many post-concussion syndrome symptoms: Blue Dream, Sour Diesel, Girl Scout Cookies, Lemon Skunk, and White Widow. Then, dominantly high CBD strains include Harlequin, ACDC, and Charlotte’s Web.

In general, cannabis can help treat pain, insomnia, anxiety, depression, nausea, and appetite issues, and some sources mention that it can help treat vertigo and dizziness. There are different consumption methods available besides smoking such as the following: oral consumption through edibles, sublingual consumption through tinctures applied under the tongue, transdermal application via patches, topical usage via infused lotions, creams, and oils, and vaping or vaporizing. Based on one’s reasons for cannabis usage, it’s suggested to choose a method that’ll fit their needs and wants best.

Growing Prevalence of Concussions & Post-Concussion Syndrome

After learning more about post-concussion syndrome, its symptoms, current treatment options, and the positive impact cannabis can have, it’s time to learn about the prevalence of this syndrome. According to CDC estimates, annually, in the U.S., roughly 1.6-3.8 million sports and recreation-related concussions occur. Out of all contact sports, football causes more than 60 percent of concussions in athletes. In football, brain injuries account for 65-95 percent of all deaths. Whereas, regarding boxing, roughly 87 percent of boxers have experienced concussions or brain injuries during their boxing career.

Overall, though, brain injuries result in more deaths as compared to all other sports injuries. Then, as much as 86 percent of athletes who experience concussions will likely endure post-traumatic migraines or headache pain in general. Ultimately, it’s essential to know about the risks of concussions and brain injuries to prevent post-concussion syndrome from occurring. If you’ve had a concussion before, consider consuming cannabis or CBD to help lessen your symptoms, and live the healthiest and most pain-free life you can!

This ‘Walking Dead’ Actor Is Raising Money For Kids Who Need Medical Marijuana

Once again Norman Reedus, the man best known as the zombie-slaying badass on AMC’s The Walking Dead, is using his profile to raise funds for kids who need medical cannabis. Currently, Reedus is partnering with Saving Sophie, a non-profit that raises funding for families who need medical cannabis in their battle with epilepsy and cancer.

Last year Reedus helped raise funds for pediatric cancer patients through the Cannakids organization. For every $5 you donate, you’re entered into a raffle to win Reedus-signed memorabilia. These contributions will go to Saving Sophie’s cancer research initiative, which helps provide “cannabinoid therapy alongside doctor-prescribed treatments” to eight patients, with plans to add more following the fundraiser.

“Our goal with this research is to bring non-toxic cancer treatments through human trials so that doctors will have access to this life-saving medicine for patients in need,” reads a release on Saving Sophie’s website.

Saving Sophie was started by the parents of Sophie Ryan, who was diagnosed with a glioma brain tumor when she was eight years old. Sophie’s parents created a Facebook page to raise awareness around their daughter’s condition, which eventually earned the attention of Ricki Lake, who was producing the documentary Weed The People with filmmaker Abby Epstein around this time.

The filmmakers introduced Sophie’s parents to non-toxic cannabinoid treatments, leading them to using a combination of chemo and cannabis oil to treat Sophie’s cancer. Her brain tumor has since shrunk more than 90 percent, and the family’s journey is prominently featured in Weed The People, which was released recently.
