Kate Middleton’s Weight Loss Before Marrying William Had People Worried

Before she tied the knot with her Prince, Kate Middleton was reportedly losing so much weight, both her sister and future husband were very worried about her.

Pippa Middleton spent a lot of time talking to her sister once the Duchess of Cambridge became engaged to Prince William. And not because she wanted to gossip or talk about dresses and tiaras. Nope. Pippa was afraid Kate was losing too much weight.

It’s not exactly a secret that Kate Middleton gets her post-baby body back seemingly right after she steps out of the maternity ward. Remember when she posed on the hospital steps hours after giving birth to Prince George? And then again to Charlotte and Louis? She looked stunning! And when she was preparing to walk down the aisle in 2011, things were no different.

Express reports that right before her wedding to William, Kate was losing so much weight, Pippa felt the need to check-in on her sister. At the time, royal correspondent Emily Hall wrote in the Daily Star that, “Pippa was so worried about her sister’s ever-shrinking size frame, she called up to five times daily to check Kate was tucking in.” Hall said that Kate was becoming “stricter with her diet…to look super-slip walking up the aisle.”

A source recently told Express that Kate is an exercise junkie, saying, “Pippa and Kate take their toned physiques extremely seriously. And mother Carole, in her 60s, is in extremely good shape.”

The royal source also said that the sisters would workout together at the gym inside Kensington Palace doing “cardio warm-ups, hip raises, diagonal and reverse lunges, stomach crunches, squats, calf raises, bridges and push-ups.”

According to Hall, William was also worried about his fiancé, with one friend reportedly telling her that “He knows the responsibility Kate has taken on is immense.”

Eight years later and Kate doesn’t look like she’s gained an ounce. How could she when she’s running after three little kids all day? Not to mention, dodging rumors of royal feuds and a cheating husband must burn a substantial amount of calories.

5 Tips To Help You Have The Best Staycation

Staycations have become a popular way of taking advantage of your time off, while saving money. Here are some tips that can help you make the most of it.

Traveling is the best, exposing you to hundreds of things that will automatically make you a more interesting person. The downside is that traveling is also expensive and laborious, requiring you to do research and to spend money on hotels, transportation, plane tickets, etc. Things can get pretty stressful when looking for your ideal vacation spot.

If you’re feeling burned out and don’t have the mental energy and money to go on a trip, you can take a staycation, which is just a cheesy way of saying that you’ll be taking some time off work and staying at home. While it’s cool to get to know new cultures and to experience new things, there’s nothing more relaxing than doing nothing at all.

Here are five tips that will allow you to have the best staycation ever:

Get to know your own town

The day to day stressors from work and our routines keep us from doing the things we’ve always been curious about doing, especially if these activities and places are located near you. Take this opportunity to do that thing you’ve been meaning to do for forever, like having a picnic at a park you never go to or taking a run through a cool neighborhood you don’t spend much time in.

Take a lot of naps

Unlike vacations, staycations allow you to nap and rest for hours on end. Sleep and watch TV, and don’t worry about putting boundaries on your fun and relaxation. Practice a little bit of doing nothing and give yourself permission to be free of the anxiety that comes when we’re bored and wasting time.

Try out different restaurants

You’d be surprised by the amount of local food spots you never visit because there’s the never time for them. Do your research and visit a few of these spots. You won’t be on vacation forever.

Look up fairs and events

If you’ve had enough of your relaxation time and are growing antsy because you’re doing nothing, look up local events and fairs that are going on around the area. These events tend to be relatively cheap and in some cases free, allowing you to hang out with some people and experience something new.

Take your time and do things slowly

When going through this list and checking off activities, remember to enjoy yourself and your time off. Drink your coffee slowly, go on leisurely strolls, take your time to read, etc. By the time you get back to work you’ll be feeling like a completely different person.

Meme Of The Week: A British Politician Slouching In Parliament Is The Internet’s Favorite Person

The political unrest from Brexit has resulted in some really funny memes, like the one highlighted in this week’s column.

You don’t have to know a thing about Brexit to understand that the whole thing is a big mess. Politicians are fighting, screaming at each other in parliament, and going back and forth on possible solutions. The people are upset and stressed out and some have decided that the best way to behave is to ignore everything, like the guy from this video, who’s earned this week’s coveted spot as the best meme.

Green Party MP Caroline Lucas criticizes Jacob Rees Mogg for slouching and taking up three spaces as if what she was saying was something “very boring for him to listen to.” Other politicians shout “sit up!” and “sit up, man!” because they’re British and stressed out.

Better than the video was this tweet, which gave the internet all the ammo it needed to produce and endless stream of memes.

You’ll be surprised by the amount of stuff that got meme’d into this image, including a very large foot, Nosferatu, Rose from “Titanic”, Winnie the Pooh and Homer Simpson. Check out some of our favorite replies:

People are giving a side-eye to Jen Aniston’s new InStyle photo shoot because she looks…different; and Kensington Palace graces us with an adorable video of Princess Charlotte and her brother heading to school.

Jennifer Aniston, 50, looks unrecognizable in new photoshoot: ‘This cover is insulting’

Via Yahoo! Lifestyle:

Jennifer Aniston is the latest to star on the cover of InStyle magazine, with five separate looks for the publication’s October 2019 Beauty Issue. But not everybody is happy about one of the actress’s unrecognizable looks.

In the first of the covers posted to InStyle’s Instagram page, the 50-year-old actress is rocking a strapless bra with a number of chunky gold jewels. However, the only thing standing out to readers is Aniston’s noticeably darker and airbrushed skin.

“Beautiful cover, but why is she ten shades darker than she really is,” one person questioned. Another wrote, “I don’t remember her being this dark.”

Others went so far as to say “This photo editor should be fired” and to suggest “What u [sic] did to her on this cover is insulting to her.”

While scrolling through the other covers, one commenter wrote, “At least she isn’t as black on this one — that other picture is horrifying,” referring to the first cover.

Aniston’s other looks, however, seem more favorable as fans call her “a timeless beauty” and even thank InStyle for the “amazing surprise.”

One person even pointed out that “this woman got better with age.”

Princess Charlotte looks adorable in her uniform on first day of school

Via iHeart Radio:

It’s back to school season! Yes, even for royals. Princess Charlotte started school at Thomas’s Battersea London on Thursday (August 5), where her older brother Prince George has been enrolled that few years. Charlotte and George arrived together for the first day, looking adorable in their matching uniforms. The siblings were also accompanied by their parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, each of them holding Mom and Dad’s hands at the drop off.

Though students are required to have the same backpack in addition to uniform clothing, Princess Charlotte added a personal touch to her own bag: a sequin unicorn keychain. Her mom also debuted a new hairstyle for the back to school season. The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her lighter, highlighted locks.

Kensington Royal shared a video of Charlotte and George’s drop off. While Charlotte appeared quite shy at first, hiding behind Kate and holding on to her mom with boy hands, she seemed like her confident, friendly self by the time the family was greeted by one of their teachers. Charlotte even stuck her tongue out (a classic move for the young princess) and waved to the reporters.

In the video, Prince William can be heard telling his children’s teacher that Charlotte is “very excited” for her very first day of school. She’s starting what’s known as her “reception year” at the school. According to the school, this means Charlotte will be encouraged to “play and explore; make choices and learn to have a go and persevere; be creative and solve problems; form good relationships; be safe, secure and happy.”

Baby Boomers Now Smoke As Much Weed As High Schoolers

A new report says boomers have become an “important and growing segment” of cannabis consumers following legalization, while high schoolers have lowered monthly usage.

Every parent fears the day their high school kid becomes too cool to hang out with them. But now parents may be too cool for their kids. According to the 2017 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.7% of Americans aged 55 to 64 use cannabis on a monthly basis. The same report found that among teenagers (ages 12-17), 6.5% were consuming marijuana monthly. That difference, while small, was within the study’s margin of error.

As cannabis becomes more and more acceptable in the mainstream, we’re witnessing older demographics embrace marijuana in ways old and new. For some, it’s their first experience with the plant. Others, particularly those who lived through the Summer of Love and hippie 70s, are returning to cannabis after many years away. That could explain why, in a recently released report, BDS Analytics determined the baby boomer generation—which includes anyone born between 1946 to 1964—as an “important and growing segment” of cannabis consumers.

RELATED: Marijuana Legalization Can Literally Raise Your Home’s Property Value

Though this older generation tends to be more “medically focused,” Leah Spokojny of BDS Analytics told the Chicago Sun-Times, that doesn’t disqualify them as recreational users. Instead, this group explores alternative consumption methods like topicals and edibles in states with legalized marijuana. Often, non-smokable marijuana products tend to be more approachable to this group, said Spokojny, who serves as director of account management at the company.

“Once the state becomes fully legal they get access to all of these new product formats,” said Spokojny.

While a healthy portion of boomers have “consumed in the past,” as Spokojny added, their voting records don’t always indicate a positive relationship over the years. Last September, a Pew Research Center Poll found that in total 62% of Americans supported marijuana legalization. But that number was lower for baby boomers, with only 54% of the group for legalization.

RELATED: Summer Of Love Flashback: How Marijuana Gained Acceptance

Believe it or not, that figure actually reflects how baby boomers felt about cannabis legalization in the 1970s. As Pew reported, 47% of boomers endorsed legalization in 1978. But we saw those numbers drop all the way to 17% in 1990, before rising to levels we see today.

Meanwhile, as legalization drives boomers as an important consumer demographic, it also discourages teen use. Both Washington state and Denver teenagers report using cannabis less than they did prior to legalization. A study published in JAMA Pediatrics earlier this year also found that legalization did more to dissuade teen use than encourage it.

“Consistent with the results of previous researchers, there was no evidence that the legalization of medical marijuana encourages marijuana use among youth,” researchers concluded. “Moreover, the estimates…showed that marijuana use among youth may actually decline after legalization for recreational purposes.”

Tear, Cut Or Grind, How Do You Break Up Your Bud

Your chosen method may seem like a pretty objective decision but there’s a purpose behind every bud-busting practice and learning the difference could be the key to better sessions.

The simple question of how to break up marijuana buds is a sobering reminder of just how personalized, individualized and even digitized our smoke rituals have become.

How do you break up your bud? Your chosen method may seem like a pretty objective decision but there’s a purpose behind every bud-busting practice and learning the difference could be the key to better sessions.

Tearing Marijuana Buds by Hand

Using fingers to tear up marijuana is, for some, a part of the overall ritual but it isn’t the best way to prepare a joint or blunt because you never get it as fine as you want it and the oily residue left on your fingers makes it harder to handle papers and wrappers. Save the tear maneuver for when you want to pack a bowl. You’ll appreciate having the slightly larger cuttings that hold the heat and don’t drop through the screen.

Alternatively, if you have a microplane handy, it’ll take at least one hand off this sticky task. Run some buds back and forth along the surface of a grater for a more delicate, even tear than you’d get using just your paws.

Cutting Cannabis with Scissors

Feeling nostalgic for your after-school sesh days? Chopping with scissors is not an ideal way to prep cannabis for any method of consumption, but it’s convenient enough, relatively clean, and the equipment is easy to find. A shot glass and a pair of scissors are all you need to cut a half gram of flower down to a desiccated mound. Merely place your buds inside of the shot glass and use your scissors in a pestle and mortar fashion, grinding and cutting your buds as they settle at the bottom of the shot glass. With some patience and effort, you might even get the desiccated pieces small and even enough to roll a decent joint.

4 Easy Ways To Grind Your Marijuana Without A Grinder

Alternatively, use a keys’ serrated edges to cut away at your buds. Your keys may end up a bit sticky as a result, but some Isopropyl alcohol should cut through the residue right away.

Milling Marijuana Mechanically

Joints are only as good as the plant material within them, and the device that’ll get the consistency right more often is the grinder or mill. A fine, even grind makes for better airflow and trichome exposure, which means more cannabinoids and terpenes get into your system. Even a simple Medtainer-style manual grinder will take weed from bud to blunt-worthy in seconds. But, the more discerning cannabis consumer might enjoy a heavy-duty aluminum model with sharp diamond cutting teeth and a stainless steel mesh screen to let all of the valuable kief (concentrated trichome pollen) fall through to the bottom for collecting.

Working with a larger quantity? There are few things as efficient as a coffee grinder, food processor, or a specialty mechanical cannabis grinder. Just make sure to wipe the inside of the device down entirely if you also use it for coffee beans. Both coffee and cannabis excrete oils that are left behind in the mill, and you probably don’t want that kind of cross-contamination. Not only will it deconstruct even the dankest nugs, but you’ll also collect plenty of sweet trichomes to pollinate the joint with before rolling and sealing.

And finally, for all the ballers out there, there’s the Otto, an all-in-one grinder and joint roller that is possibly more at home in a William-Sonoma than your local head shop. The price point matches the impressive mechanics and elegant styling but just think of how spectacular it’ll look as it creates the perfect joint right before your guests’ eyes.

Mixing Chocolate With Cannabis Can Alter THC Potency

Researchers find that components present in chocolate can affect the elements in cannabis, leading to some unpredictable edibles.

As if marijuana dosages weren’t complicated enough, a group of scientists recently discovered that chocolate is capable of throwing off this delicate balance, muddling the presence of marijuana to the point where testers don’t know the amount of THC that’s present in an edible. A chocolate with 10 mg of THC could contain much more, leaving users with an intense high that they weren’t looking for.

“Simply changing how much sample is in the vial could determine whether a sample passes or fails, which could have a huge impact on the producer of the chocolate bars, as well as the customer who might be under- or overdosing because of this weird quirk of matrix effects,” explains David Dawson, one of the researchers who made this discovery.

According to the Associated Press, chemistry is becoming a very important part of the marijuana industry, especially since people want to purchase products like milk, coffee and sweets, all containing cannabis.

“There’s a lot of flash and hipness, snake oil and marketing. But there’s still a lot of real chemical advance happening,” says Vincent Capuano, a Boston attorney who also holds a doctorate in organic chemistry. “It’s right in center field for chemists.”

Experts explain that for some reason, chocolate throws off the many compounds that are present in cannabis; the more chocolate there is, the harder it is to grasp the dosage of THC.

RELATED: Are Marijuana Edibles Better For Your Brain Than Smoking?

Despite the progress and rapid growth of the marijuana industry, the necessary tests and studies involving the plant have not been conducted, leaving many aspects of it unclear.

Since recreational and medical marijuana are legal in many states, the companies responsible for making these products need to figure out accurate ways of testing their products they want to avoid trouble with authorities. For better or worse, the industry is no longer as informal as it used to be.

Britney Spears’ Longtime BF Sam Asghari ‘Absolutely’ Wants To Marry Her

Via iHeart Radio:

Britney Spears’ longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari is looking forward to popping the question!

On Wednesday (September 4), Asghari sat down with Entertainment Tonight to discuss what it’s like to fall head over heels for one of the biggest pop stars in the world, and revealed he “absolutely” sees marriage in their future. “This is something that every couple should do. That’s the whole point of a relationship — we are a family,” the 25-year-old added of his three-year romance with the musician and mommy of two. “Trust me, if we do ever get married, everybody’s going to know.”

“I have three sisters. We’ve hung out a lot of times,” the model, born in Iran, continued, adding that they “love [Britney], my family loves her. My mom lives in another country [but] when she was here, she met her.” Asghari also described his bond with the “Work” star’s two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, as “absolutely amazing.”

As fans know, Asghari and the 37-year-old singer met on the set of the superstar’s “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. Five months after filming, he revealed she sent him aa text message to go out for food, and the rest was a done deal.

“We talked at the music video about what [we] like to eat — sushi — and then [exchanged] text messages and next thing you know, [we’re] just like a normal couple,” he continued. “It’s not glamorous or anything. … We can get inspired by each other here and there and really grow with each other.”

The personal trainer’s sit-down comes months after the couple marked their red carpet debut at the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood premiere in July.

Kevin Hart Had His Spine Fused Back Together After Car CrashVia Yahoo! Entertainment:Details about Kevin Hart‘s car crash injuries are slowly emerging. The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor, 40, had three fractures to his spine in the Labor Day weekend car crash, according to TMZ.

When Hart underwent surgery on Sunday night, the fractures were fused — two in the thoracic spine, which is the upper and middle part of the back, and one in the lumbar, which is in the lower back.

While the procedure was a success and he’s expected to make a full recovery, the website reports that Hart is “still going through hell.” He’s also been heavily medicated because of the pain. Physical therapy is next, but TMZ says it will be a “long road back.”

Hart hasn’t spoken out about the crash — during which his friend, Jared Black, reportedly lost control of Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda and crashed through wooden fencing along Mulholland Highway and rolled down an embankment just before 1 a.m. on Sunday morning.

In addition to Hart and Black, Black’s fiancee, Rebecca Broxterman, was in the car, which was crushed. Black, who was not under the influence of alcohol, suffered “major back injuries” while Broxterman also complained of pain.

Details about how the crash unfolded have been slowly trickling out with 911 calls being released and eyewitness accounts shared. We have learned that Hart reportedly left the scene — after being pulled out of the driver’s side window — with his security while Black and Broxterman remained in the car waiting to be rescued. The star was taken to his Calabasas home with extensive back injuries, and then an hour and a half later, a woman called 911 requesting medical attention for Hart at his house, saying the actor “can’t move” and was “not coherent at all.” At that point, he was hospitalized.

Hart’s wife, Eniko Parrish, was spotted visiting her husband at the hospital on Monday after his surgery. “He’s good, everybody’s good. Thank God,” she said. “He’s fine, he’s awake.”

Gay Gene? No Such Thing According To New Study

0

The largest study ever to focus on gay men and women finds no evidence that there is a singular gene that influences people’s sexuality.

The myth of the gay gene has been around for years. Ever since a study from 1993 found a correlation between the genetic marker ‘XQ28’ and gay men, the myth has taken a life of its own, disregarding the fact that no other studies have reached similar findings.

A group of researchers decided to analyze data from 477,522 American and British subjects. This information was obtained through the website 23andMe and from a U.K. Biobank. While the study is limited in scope (no trans or people of color were included) it is still the largest study to focus on gay men and women.

Published in the journal Science, the study is called The Genetics of Sexual Orientation and it says sexuality is shaped by different genetic variants. There isn’t one gay gene, there are several, thus making it impossible to determine someone’s sexuality based on their genetic material.

RELATED: Men Don’t Adopt ‘Green’ Habits Over Fear Of Being Perceived Gay

Photo by Brian Kyed via Unsplash.

“Same-sex sexual behavior is influenced by not one or a few genes but many,” explains the study. “Overlap with genetic influences on other traits provides insights into the underlying biology of same-sex sexual behavior, and analysis of different aspects of sexual preference underscore its complexity and call into question the validity of bipolar continuum measures such as the Kinsey scale.”

The study puts an emphasis on external factors influencing sexuality, while also highlighting how much of this information remains unknown. There were some differences found between gay men and women, and some connections between LGBTQ people and mental diseases, which could be explained by enduring societal prejudice. Younger participants were more likely to demonstrate same sex attraction, showing off how evolving perspectives help shape sexual expression.

RELATED: Marvel Will Introduce The First Gay Superhero To Their Cinematic Universe

While some members of the LGBTQ community were concerned by a genetic study that analyzed gay people’s DNA, others found the results interesting and thought provoking. “This wasn’t something I, of all people, would have chosen. There must be some sort of biological background,” says Dr. Robbee Wedow, research fellow of the Broad Institute and Harvard’s Sociology department. “Saying ‘sorry, you can’t study this’ reinforces it as something that should be stigmatized.”

Which Give A Smoother Marijuana Trip, Bongs Or Pipes

0

The main reason bongs and other types of water pipes are so highly lauded is that the water cools and filters the smoke for a smoother hit, while also packing a little punch.

The bong (or bubbler) has an essential place in any serious pot smoker’s collection. Taking measured bong hits is a way of life for many cannabis imbibers and some people swear by them. There’s many solid reasons why a glass water pipe is a great choice for smoking, but is it the right choice for you?

The main reason bongs and other types of water pipes are so highly lauded is that the water, particularly cold water, cools and filters the smoke for a smoother hit, while also packing a little punch when the hit snaps through. Unless we’re talking about those comically high bongs, they are easy to pass and easy to measure to ensure everyone is getting an equal hit.

RELATED: What’s The Perfect Water Temperature For Your Bong?

Glass pipes and bongs have also come a long way from the plastic bongs and metal pipes dwindling into niche markets, but mostly into the past. You can literally own a functioning work of one-of-a-kind, handmade art when you purchase a higher-end piece of glass, and though handled more tenderly, they make for great conversation pieces amongst high minded groups.

So what’s the disadvantage? They’re a pain in the arse to clean most of the time and if they aren’t clean, they aren’t doing their jobs; they taste nasty and become counter intuitive. A clean piece of glass, whether made for water or not, is essential to a smoother, healthier smoking experience.

There are ways to keep your glass clean though, of course, and the simplest way is to clean it daily. If it’s a more standard bong, with a wider round base and straight tube leading up, simply emptying the contents and rinsing the inside with hot water on the daily keeps it much more simple. The thorough cleanings can happen more infrequently.

The stem of a bong can be boiled at home, just beware of the scent of resin infiltrating your kitchen. There are also solutions on the market — found at almost any head shop — specifically for cleaning glass. You can place the stem and enough solution to cover it in a plastic baggie and work it around to get it all the way through the glass. Just be gentle and then let the liquid work its magic for as long as stated on the bottle, rinse and voilà! You’re back to smooth hitting.
