Dogs Of Instagram: French Bulldog

There’s a reason the most popular breed for city dwellers is the French bulldog. The Frenchie is highly adaptable to most living situations — singles, couples or families — and don’t need much outdoor exercise. The Frenchie is known for its bulldog characteristics: playful, alert, bright and loving. Its compact build, big head, bat like ears, and wrinkles around its squished adorable nose make the French bulldog simply irresistible.

Here, we find five of the most irresistible Frenchies of Instagram.

0

If you live in a city, making time to surround yourself in nature might not be one of your daily priorities; it’s not always easy to find a city that offers the chance to take a walk in a park (with real living trees) that’s also conveniently located. But new studies suggest that we should at least try to find a way to absorb nature every day. What to improve your improve the wellness of your physical and mental health. According to one study, subjects were separated into two groups and were asked to take two sets of cognitive tests, with a break in between. For their break, the first group had to then take a stroll through the woods and the second group had to walk down a busy street. Unsurprisingly, the first group performed much better than the first group on their second round of tests.

Nature has always had a relaxing effect on people, recharging our batteries more than if we were in a crowded room or stuck in traffic. Keep this in mind the next time you want to relax or find some inspiration; your best option might just be to spend some time at your nearest park. Hopefully these benefits of surrounding yourself in nature will be helpful.

Marie Kondo Explains Why She Wants You To Toss Your Books

There’s been some unnecessary backlash surrounding Mari Kondo and her KonMari method of decluttering homes. In her Netflix hit “Tidying Up With Mari Kondo,” the petite tidying expert and best-selling author explains that there are five tidying categories: clothing, books, paper, komono (kitchen, bathroom, garage, miscellaneous) and sentimental items.

People are really pissed off about the book part of that sequence.

https://twitter.com/Kevin_Church/status/1081545295547297792

But as Kondo tells IndieWire, she doesn’t want people to get rid of any book they don’t want to get rid of. Period.

“The most important part of this process of tidying is to always think about what you have and about the discovery of your sense of value, what you value that is important,” she said through her interpreter, Marie Iida.  “So it’s not so much what I personally think about books. The question you should be asking is what do you think about books.”

Last week, Kondo spoke to Katie Rosman of  The New York Times to say that people were missing the point of her reasoning to clear out books. “The point of the KonMari method is to figure out your sense of value — what do you hold most important? So if your reaction is anger over having to let go of books, then that’s great because that means for you, books are invaluable.”

In other words, if something  sparks joy for you, you must keep it with confidence. If Kondo’s Netflix series and cluttered book theory make you angry, stop watching.

Also, this idea that Kondo wants to host a book burning party when you decide to nix your old copy of  “Eat, Pray, Love,” she tells IndieWire that’s just ridiculous.

“I do think there is a misunderstanding of the process, that I’m recommending that we throw away books in the trash or burn them or something. I always recommend donating them, so if that’s part of the misunderstanding, then that’s certainly being mixed up.”

She also understands that discarding books is a cultural thing that many Americans may be uncomfortable with.

“I grew up in Japan, and the climate there is very humid. So it’s damp and the moisture in the air causes lots of damage to the books. It’s not great to have a lot of damaged books. The books themselves won’t even open, they’re so damaged,” she said. “So if you’re retaining so many that you’re not reading, you might have to let go of some. But I’ve learned through this experience that’s very different in a foreign country where the climate is very different, and you’re able to keep the books in beautiful condition. Plus, you have more space to keep them, and that’s perfectly fine, so that’s one of the biggest things I learned through this process.”

CBD Coffee Is The Easy Way To Pain-Free Mornings

Delivery systems for cannabis and its derivatives abound. And that especially goes for CBD. Many people love the anti-anxiety, mellowing out properties of this non-psychoactive part of the cannabis plant. They don’t see the need to get high off of THC or they may be heading to a job where it’s inappropriate to be lifted.

No matter the reason, CBD coffee has taken the country by storm. From brew it yourself to coffee shops offering a shot or two, CBD takes the edge off the coffee jitters and is great for a  general sense of wellbeing long after you’ve finished the last sip.

Tea drinkers are getting in on the CBD bandwagon as well. Some say the earthy, green flavor of pure CBD goes better with green tea especially. One coffee shop in Burlington, Vermont makes “a CBD-enhanced Japanese matcha tea latte” to rave reviews of both local imbibers and the press.

The climate for CBD produced products has really taken off. If one would like to add to their CBD coffee experience, they can simply go to any headshop and purchase a CBD vape pen or a pack of CBD gummies. Or why not just have that second cup of CBD-laced Joe?

The CBD Coffee Company is just as it sounds, but is made for brewing at home. On their website they tout the benefits of CBD, from anxiety relief to the easing of chronic pain. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system that runs rampant through each and every one of our bodies. It stimulates the system’s receptors, thus inducing the many benefits of the plant.

And adding CBD to coffee or tea is really the perfect match. No matter what liquid we take in to perk up in the mornings or afternoons, having the healing properties of CBD oil with it, along with the benefit of taking a little of the edge off is a no-brainer.

Then again, there are CBD purists and there are coffee purists and neither one is likely to mix the two substances. Coffee purists because of the slightly green flavor that interacts with the flavors of well brewed coffee. CBD purists because, well, that’s what they came for, and the leftover edge from caffeine is too much for some.

As the cannabis landscape continues to open up, more and more ideas of how to infuse all components of cannabis are going to rise to the top, especially when they’re delicious and get the job done…

Meme Of The Week: 2009 Vs 2019 Challenge Transforms Into A Way Better Meme

The 10 Year Challenge has quickly become one of 2019’s most annoying things, at least when it comes to internet challenges. Thankfully, there are always saviors out there — those who take the challenge, see how dumb it is, and give it a comedic twist.

The original intent of the 10 Year Challenge was to show off how much people have changed in the past decade.  But what started out as a celebrity movement, quickly enveloped all sorts of users who were excited to upload a new selfie and reflect upon their glow ups. Of course, these people all look better in 2019, mainly because those who look worse than they did 10 years ago aren’t participating.

The fun versions of the 10 Year Challenge come from users who maybe want to compare two versions of Gritty or different looking trash cans as a way of reflecting on the exhausting state of the world. They use funny transformations of actors or comparisons of photos to get their point across; they want to have a good time and make fun of people. Glow ups never looked so good:

3 Subtle Relationship Habits That Can Predict Staying Power

0

When you find yourself falling for someone new, pure physical attraction is often what sparks the initial flame of desire. And we ride that train for as long as we can before realizing that wanting to spend every moment with your partner in bed doesn’t have staying power. Yes, sex is definitely an important aspect of a healthy relationship, but there are several other common habits happy couples practice — even if they don’t realize it — that create staying power.

Bustle compiled a list of 7 of them. Here are 3 we think are the easiest to adopt if you haven’t already.

You speak each other’s language

This means trying to understand your partner’s hobbies and passions, whether intellectual or physical.  Jenna Birch, CEO of Plum dating app and author of The Love Gaptells Bustle that learning to “speak your partner’s language” is crucial to bonding because it shows you’re actually listening to understand, which ultimately leads to a more satisfying relationship than those who listen just to respond.

You go to bed at the same time

This is totally a thing. As Bustle points out, a recent study in the journal Chronobiology International found that couples who go to bed around the same time have better relationships because sharing a bed creates intimacy and attachment.

You kiss for 6 seconds twice a day

Couples therapist Beth Wylie says kissing your partner every day creates more positive interactions. “We need to be more mindful to create positive interactions so that the overall health of the relationship stays in a positive space,” she tells Bustle.  The Gottman Institute backs up her claim. They found that kissing for  six seconds twice a day  can help you better connect with your partner.

The Motorola RAZR Is Coming Back As A $1,500 Smartphone

Remember your favorite phone? The first one you had that offered the opportunity to dramatically snap it shut as a way of ending a conversation? No other phone has ever provided that feeling since, and Motorola is counting on that. The company is working on a revamped version of their iconic RAZR that will be capable of running the latest apps, while maintaining its attractive “snappiness.”

The Wall Street Journal reports that the new RAZR is scheduled for release next month. Even though tests and modifications are still being done, the device will be a redesigned version of the old RAZR with a foldable screen — a term that’s been popular ever since Samsung announced their foldable phone. Initial predictions claim that the new RAZR will be sold for $1,500, a shockingly ambitious price.

This announcement comes as a big surprise since there are no specs available for the phone. Virtually nothing is known about the device, it’s capabilities, how it’ll look, or what Motorola means when they say “foldable.”

Lenovo, the company that owns Motorola, is working on producing over 200,000 of these smartphones — a number experts are calling optimistic. Motorola hasn’t been a serious competitor in the smartphone business in years, and no matter how much you loved your RAZR, you’re probably not buying one for $1,500.

Who knows, maybe people are ready to throw away their iPhones. We’ll have to wait until February to see what happens.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Demands Repeal On State’s Smokable Marijuana Ban

In the long and bitter back-and-forth between cannabis advocates and government officials over Florida marijuana laws, newly-elected Gov. Ron DeSantis presented a reprieve Thursday, announcing he has demanded the state legislature to repeal the ban on smokable marijuana. If lawmakers don’t act by mid-March, the governor said he’d drop an appeal filed by his predecessor, Rick Scott, that has effectively upheld the ban in Florida.

DeSantis also demonstrated a desire to work with persistent medical marijuana champions Rep. Matthew Gaetz (R-FL) and John Morgan, who were both beside DeSantis as he made his address. DeSantis added that he will drop several appeals previously made by the state, regarding “limited licensing and vertical integration, which requires medical marijuana companies to grow, manufacture, sell and market their own product,” reports the Tampa Bay Times.

“What the Florida Legislature has done to implement the people’s will has not been done in accordance with what the amendment envisioned,” DeSantis said. “Whether they (patients) have to smoke it or not, who am I to judge that? I want people to be able to have their suffering relieved. I don’t think this law is up to snuff.”

According to the Orlando Sentinel, leaders in both the House and Senate have expressed a willingness to work with DeSantis despite the quick turnaround. Florida’s legislative sessions begins March 5.

“The governor’s willingness to engage with us is appreciated and the House will work with the governor on his priorities, including ensuring patients have options and our kids remain protected,” said House Speaker Jose Oliva.

Back in 2016, more than 71 percent of Florida voters approved a constitutional amendment that would legalize medical marijuana. However, the 2017 bill Gov. Rick Scott signed into law denied access to smokable marijuana and capped the number of licenses and dispensaries available within Florida. Voters were not happy. This led to lengthy legal battles in the state, most of them bankrolled by Morgan, who also funded the initial amendment’s campaign, resulting in Circuit Court Judge Karen Gievers ruling that the state’s ban was “unconstitutional.”

According to DeSantis’ statements yesterday, the years-long battle appears to finally be over.

“This is all about doing the people’s will,” DeSantis said. “I don’t want this thing done judiciously if we can help it.”

Adulting Classes Are Becoming More Popular With Millennials

0

Adulting is hard, and no one knows that better than millennials. So much so that so-called “adulting classes” are growing in popularity among the Gen Y set. These classes teach young adults how to cook, unclog drains, change a car’s oil, and other tasks that were once assumed to be common knowledge among adults. “Uh, do you offer these classes for older people, too?” — A Friend.

CBS News reports that these classes are gaining popularity, with people in their late twenties attending in order to learn how to cut vegetables and prepare edible food. “I don’t know, I was so used to when living at home, my mom always cooking,” said 29 year old Elena Toumaras. “Doing simple things now that I’m on my own, I’m struggling with it.”

RELATED: Millennials Don’t Take Time Off Work And Here’s Why

Millennials get constantly called out for their unconventional approach to life, falling behind in achieving milestones that are considered staples of adulthood. They may have jobs, pay rent, and travel, but many are still stuck in the young adulthood phase, even as they begin to enter their thirties.

Today’s adults aren’t less competent than they were a decade ago. Neither Hooters nor avocados are to blame here. Experts have several theories as to why this phenomenon is happening, ranging from weak wages and rapid rise of housing costs and expenditures, to the disappearance of home economics and shop courses from high schools.

Senator Ben Sasse argues in his book “The Vanishing American Adult” that Millennials are unlike previous generations because they have been affected and changed by technology. Young adults have embraced “perpetual adolescence.” He also puts blame on Gen Xers for not preparing their kids for the demands of real work. “It is good for kids to learn how to work. Right now, we’re acting like keeping our kids free from work is a way to treat them really nicely, when in reality thoughtful parenting wants to help free our kids to find meaning in work.”

So, if you don’t know how to cook, please take an adulting class. Cooking is important and necessary, no matter how much you’re mocked for your incompetence.  Adulthood and life milestones might need to be redefined for future generations. Hopefully by then, people will stop whining about it.
