Gossip: Kim Kardashian Blocks Blac Chyna; ‘American Idol’ Not Returning To TV

Blac Chyna will have to settle for being Blac Chyna — especially since she and Rob Kardashian aren’t planning on getting married anytime soon because Chyna’s ‘Kardashian’ trademark attempt has officially been rejected. But she plans to fight back.

“Chyna hates Kim. She knows Kim is behind this. Now she is ready to fight back and is willing to tell-all,” sources tell NAUGHTY GOSSIP. “If they will not let her be a Kardashian, then she will destroy them. And if they want to see her daughter, they should think again. Her daughter is and always will be a Kardashian and Chyna will be making money from and with her kid. They cannot stop that, not even Kim.”

‘American Idol’ Won’t Be Returning to Television…Yet

After a bidding war between NBC and FOX, ‘American Idol’ will NOT be returning to television on either network in 2018.

The co-owners of the show couldn’t managed to agree on a deal.

via TMZ:

TMZ broke the story, both NBC and FOX made dueling offers to bring the show back as early as summer, 2018. We were told NBC wanted to rotate “Idol”with 2 other shows — “America’s Got Talent” and “The Voice.”

Our sources say the owners of “Idol” — Fremantle and Core — never anted up a counter offer to either network. As for why, Fremantle also owns “AGT” and we’re told the company was pushing hard to pressure Core into agreeing to accept the NBC offer.

We’re told honchos at Core felt Fremantle had a conflict of interest and was pushing “Idol” to make “AGT” the cornerstone of a year-round talent competition.

The Core execs felt Fremantle was trying to diminish the unique value of Idol and the two companies could not see eye to eye and we’re told all the negotiations have been shelved.

They don’t call it show business for nothing.

The Fresh Toast Marijuana Legislative Roundup: April 3

The marijuana legalization battle made strides last week in the nation’s capital with a series of bills introduced. Meanwhile, legislators in Delaware, West Virginia, Tennessee and Colorado made headway.

National:

On Thursday, Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colorado) introduced a bill that would make cannabis legal under federal law and permit it to be regulated like alcohol.

Under the Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act, marijuana would be removed from the list of banned substances under Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, and allow adults 21 and older to buy, possess, and consume the plant legally. Cannabis advertisements would face similar restrictions to those of alcohol products, and the task of regulating marijuana would fall to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The bill is one of three pieces of marijuana-related legislation introduced by members of the Cannabis Caucus. Other sponsors of the legislation include Oregon Democratic Reps. Ron Wyden and Earl Blumenauer.

The Small Business Equity Act would permit state-legal cannabis businesses to claim tax credits and deductions available to other legal businesses. Such businesses are currently treated as illegal drug traffickers and are subject to exorbitant tax rates.

The Addressing The Marijuana Policy Gap Act would “exempt any person acting in compliance with state marijuana law from criminal penalties” under the Controlled Substances Act and create an expungement process for people convicted for possession of less than one ounce of cannabis or for other activities that were state-legal at the time the crime was committed.

The bill also includes a number of other provisions to reduce federal penalties for certain marijuana offenders, make federal law more compatible with state marijuana laws, and permit healthcare professionals at the Department of Veterans Affairs to make “recommendations and opinions” regarding medical marijuana.

West Virginia:

On Thursday, the West Virginia House of Delegates held its first reading and debate on a bill to legalize medical marijuana for patients suffering from seizures, chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety, and other conditions to be determined by a new medical cannabis commission.

In a highly unusual move, legislators voted 50-40 to bypass the committee process and the House leadership in order to bring the bill directly to the chamber floor. Such legislation has invariably died in committee over the years, and proponents of the legislation argue that as a result, state law has failed to keep pace with the growing support for medical marijuana among West Virginians.

Tennessee:

As we reported in our previous Legislative Roundup, Tennessee legislators recently passed a measure to nullify local ordinances allowing police to issue civil citations for possession of small amounts of marijuana. Last week, a spokeswoman for Republican Governor Bill Haslam told reporters that the governor would defer to the legislature on the issue. Once enacted, the bill will override measures in the state’s two largest cities, Nashville and Memphis, imposing civil fines for cannabis possession in lieu of criminal charges.

Delaware:

On Thursday, Delaware lawmakers unveiled a measure that would permit adults 21 and older to purchase and possess up to an ounce of marijuana. Production and retail operations would be licensed and regulated by the state.

The bill’s sponsors say that they have enough votes to pass the law. However, Democratic Gov. John Carney does not support legalization for his state, preferring to focus on finally achieving full implementation of the state’s six-year-old medical marijuana law and a decriminalization measure approved in 2015. The governor has stated that he wants more time to study the impact of legalization in the eight states and D.C. that have previously approved such legislation.

Colorado:

A new Colorado legislative proposal would protect state-licensed recreational marijuana growers from a potential future federal crackdown on legal cannabis. The measure would pre-qualify such growers for reclassification as medical marijuana producers should a legitimate business need arise. This would make it nearly impossible for the federal government to target recreational marijuana producers, but could carry a high cost for state revenue because medical marijuana is taxed at a much lower rate than recreational marijuana.

Coachella Bans Marijuana, But There’s Old School Ways Around It

0

It is now perfectly legal in California for adults 21 and over to use marijuana as part of their recreational endeavors, but organizers of the infamous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will not be permitting patrons to smoke weed at any of their upcoming shows.

It seems that concertgoers will be forced to rely on old school rules — sneaking pot into the show by way of some intimate body crevasse and then firing it up when the lights go down – when attending the Coachella events slated for later this month (April 14-16 and April 21-23), because event promoter Goldenvoice has forbidden the use of marijuana – even for medical marijuana patients, according to the event’s official website.

What has happened is the event takes place on private property in Indio, which comes with its own set of rules separate to the state of California. So, when organizers say, “no drugs are allowed,” unfortunately this includes our friend marijuana.

“The promoter has a standing right to the property, and they can determine what can and cannot be brought onto the premises,” Indio police Sgt. Dan Marshall told The Press-Enterprise. “(For instance) you have the right to bear arms, but you don’t have the right to bear arms in my house.”

The following appears in Coachella’s Frequently Asked Questions:

“I have a medical marijuana card and need to medicate daily … cool?”

“Sorry bro. Medical marijuana cards are not valid at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Even in 2017 and beyond. If that changes so will this answer.”

There will be “amnesty boxes” positioned at the entrance of the event in an effort to give people an opportunity to dispose of the weed that they may have stashed on their person. Reports indicate that anyone caught smoking marijuana at the festival will be held to state law, which prohibits pot smoking in public areas. However, the worst possible repercussion to a person who knowingly violates this rule is the police would confiscate their weed, slap them with a fine of up to $100 and maybe toss them out of the event. No jail time is possible, as long as the person doesn’t try to start a fight with police.

Perhaps the easiest way around all of this no marijuana business at the upcoming Coachella events is to simply pack a stash of edible pot products as opposed to trying to smuggle in raw flower. It might be relatively easy for security to spot someone smoking a joint out in the open, but there is no way in hell these goons will catch people eating pot candy.

Just be smart and enjoy the show.

Watch This Busy Badger Bury an Entire Cow

Watch this busy badger bury an entire cow in stretch of Utah’s Great Basin Desert. Take our word for it: The clip is worth watching. But why did the badger go to such great lengths to bury such a bigger creature in the sand? The short version is: The ground works as a sort of fridge for the badger, who will be able to feed itself from the cow for months to come.

As Gizmodo reports, University of Utah researchers inadvertently recorded the bizarre burial as they studying the behavior of various scavengers during winter months in the Great Basin. Hoping to catch vultures or other birds, in January the scientists had secured seven cow carcasses in the area with cameras placed nearby.

One week later, one of the researchers, a doctoral candidate named Evan Buechley, visited the sites and noticed that an entire cow had vanished. “When I first got there I was bummed because it’s hard to get these carcasses, to haul them out and set them up,” he said in a press release. “I thought ‘Oh, well we’ve lost one after a week.’”

Then he noticed a large mound where the cow had been. . “Right on the spot I downloaded the photos,” he said. “We didn’t go out to study badgers specifically, but the badger declared itself to us.”

The photos revealed that the badger had buried the cow over the course of five days, before returning to its den. But it ventured back to the burial several times over the next few weeks to feast from the cow. The practice continued into early March. Another badger was also spotted trying to bury one of the other cows, which proves this wasn’t just some rogue, cow-loving scavenger.

This Cockatoo Proudly Dancing To Elvis Will Be The Best Thing You See All Week

Everyone loves Elvis. Even birds. Take, for example, the cockatoo in the video below, who dances enthusiastically as his owner serenades him and his bird friend with a rendition of “Don’t Be Cruel.”

In the viral clip, which has since been retweeted over 55,000 times, the white cockatoo bounces up and down to the song. His buddy is less enthuses, and even lifts one leg up to keep his dancing friend away, but the jamming bird is undeterred: He just keeps on bouncing to the rhythm and flaring his plumage.

The dance continues for nearly two minutes, with the one cockatoo repeatedly showing off his moves and his impressive feathers. Elvis himself would’ve been impressed, as would Iggy Pop’s pet cockatoo, Biggy Pop.

Fitness Clubs and Gyms Turn to Booze to Retain Clients

0

While it might seem counterintuitive, gyms and fitness clubs are turning more and more to alcohol as a way to build a sense of community among clients. The Washington Post recently spoke to several gym owners and representatives who described the influence occasional booze sessions have on their businesses.

“If a Spindler (our name for our members) knows the other people in the facility, they become comfortable here and show up more,” Jeff Shapiro, owner of Spindle Fitness in Chicago, told the Post. “The deeper these relationships grow, the more their basic psychological need for belonging is met and the more motivated they become. For us, alcohol accelerates the process of creating and deepening these relationships. Also, we are normal humans who like to have fun, so a party here or there makes us all happy.”

Amy Williams, a spokeswoman for Life Time Fitness, said many gym goers were already drinking together after workouts, so it made sense to offer it as part of the official package. “They do a hard Warrior Sculpt class and they find people in that class who want to go out and have a glass of wine or a beer afterwards,” she said. “So, they were doing it all along, and bringing it into our place just allows them to do it without having to get into their car and drive somewhere else.”

Some boozemakers are getting in on the action too, the Post reports: Yuengling sponsors a 5k and a marathon, and Michelob Ultra has built an entire marketing strategy around responsible drinking after a workout.

But what about the health aspects of drinking so soon after a workout—won’t downing a beer or two cancel out all the hard work you just did? Not according to Susan Whitbourne, a psychology professor at University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

“Really, the balance comes out in favor of your health,” she told the Post. “Even if you have a glass of beer or wine afterwards, it’s not like you’ve completely undone all the good you just did.”

Watch Police Drag a Confused Gator Through A Store

0

When you find a five-foot-long gator wandering around in front of a furniture store that sits in front of a lake, you have a few options: You could: A) leave it be, B) put it in a car and drive it around the store to the lake, or B) lead it directly to the lake by taking it through the store on a leash in front of confused and delighted employees. Thankfully for gator-lovers everywhere, Pasco County sheriff’s deputies picked option C last week.

“Come on, little buddy, you’re going to the lake,” one deputy says in a video obtained by the New York Post.

“Just escorting the gator,” he says later as someone–perhaps a store employee–chimes in from the background: “Ha ha, same day delivery!”

Once he was out of the store and by the lake, the gator was clearly relieved.

“Oh, he’s like, “That feels so much better,” the cameraman says. “He’s in heaven, look at him.

Making the story even more perfect: The gator was initially spotted in the store’s parking lot underneath a car with a Florida Gators bumper sticker.

A Real-Life Sharknado Hit Australia Following a Tropical Cyclone

0

Following a heavy storm, you never know what will wash ashore. It could be a giant blunt, or poop. The people in the Australian state of Queensland received property damage and floodwater following an intense tropical cyclone this past week. No one was seriously injured by Cyclone Debbie, thankfully. But there was a sharknado.

People keen on splashing around the floodwater were warned by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services not to for a very valid reason. Why you might ask? Well apparently there was a bull shark that washed ashore.

You might consider this a fluke to be cast aside. But as Gizmodo correctly points out, this phenomenon should be called what it is: a sharknado. Now if you watched the documentary film Sharknado, you’d know that sharknadoes are natural occurrences when a tornadoes lifts a sharks out of the ocean and deposits them into civilian-infested lands. Chaos ensues.

As we mentioned, luckily no one was seriously injured by this sharknado. Schools were closed following serious flooding, but more alarming was a fire that broke out at Brisbane’s landmark XXXX brewery. More than 40 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, and were able to put the fire under control.

The Brisbane Times reached out to a spokesperson for the company, who informed the masses, there will be “no disruption to supply.” The people probably need the beer following all this calamity.

Legal Recreational Weed Spending to Surpass Medical Marijuana Sales in 2019: Report

0

In just two years, North Americans will spend more on recreational marijuana than they do on medical marijuana, according to a new report from Arcview Market Research.

The biggest reason for the shift is, obviously, the increasing number of states and regions that will likely legalize recreational use over the next few years. Business Insider notes that both Canada and California could full legalize marijuana as early as July 1, 2018, which would change the ways millions of North Americans think about and purchase cannabis.

“There’s huge growth in the user base when you stop requiring people to get medical recommendations … when you have stores selling edibles and concentrates, and not just the dealer around the corner selling bags of weed,” Tom Adams, editor in chief of Arcview Market Research, told Business Insider.

Adams said that the cannabis buying experience wouldn’t change dramatically for those who already use medical marijuana. “They go into the same stores — or even nicer or bigger stores, now that there are a lot more of them — and they just shop at the medical cash register,” he said.

The major difference, he said, will be in how the product is taxed. For instance, recreational weed will be taxed at a rate of 15 percent when it becomes legal in California. In Colorado, recreational users pay on average 15 to 20 percent more than medical patients do.
