Your Favorite WWE Wrestler Probably Consumer Marijuana

Pro wrestlers can’t do pills or drugs, so they use weed to help manage physical and psychological stress.

Professional wrestling may be a scripted sport, where the results come predetermined and the storylines fake, but one aspect is definitively real — the injuries. You can’t simulate jumping from the top rope or another competitor pulling your arm back. Wrestlers feel all the pain, both physically and psychologically, which is why those athletes struggle with addiction and dependence to opioid painkillers.

In response, the WWE established strict drug policies around pills. Should a wrestler get caught using prescription painkillers, tranquilizers, steroids, or abusing other pharmaceuticals, they will receive an immediate suspension and sometimes get booted from the circuit. The league, however, is quite lenient when it comes to marijuana and alcohol.

Recently, former WWE wrestler Enzo Amore shared on the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast just how prevalent marijuana use is in the sport. Amore worked in the WWE from 2012 to 2018, and now goes by nZo on the independent circuit. While in the WWE, though, he saw plenty of cannabis use behind the scenes.

“That’s the thing a lot of people don’t know,” Amore said. “Probably half the locker room smokes pot. And why do we do that? You can’t do pills. You can’t do drugs.”

The WWE doesn’t exactly endorse its competitors smoking weed, however. If a wrestler is caught with THC in their system during a drug test, the league will fine them $2,500, which Ringside News describes as wrestling’s “weed tax.” Many of the sport’s superstars can pay it, but Amore had to wait several years until he could afford the tax.

“I started off making $600 a week in the WWE for a year, so I was taking out credit cards just to pay my bills,” Amore said. “When I finally looked at my bank account, probably like 6 months into the main roster, I was like, ‘Do you know what? I can take a fine right now.’ And I lit up a blunt again for the first time. And, to me, that is my medicine, bro.”

WWE President Vince McMahon apparently enjoys partaking in marijuana as well. Chris Jericho shared a story on his podcast last month about a time when McMahon lit a joint in front of Donald Trump.

“I remember one time Vince told me that they were watching some concert or something at Trump New Jersey, whatever it was called,” Jericho said. “And Vince was sitting there with Linda, Donald, and all the heads of state, and Vince lit up a joint and Trump was like, ‘You can’t smoke that joint in here!’ And Vince goes, ‘I just did!’”

5 Popular Moisturizer Ingredients That Can Harm Your Skin

Plenty of moisturizers contain chemicals that irritate and dry out your skin. Check the back of your bottle to make sure it’s not one of these.

Developing proper skincare routines is a very important habit, one that has grown more popular thanks to a growing culture of self care. During the very hot or cold seasons, it’s especially important to invest in these products since the weather can take a toll, even more so if you’re someone who has sensitive skin.

While we might get our lotion recommendations from websites, magazines, friends or blogs, there’s no way of knowing what’s in these bottles unless we’re experts.

The Huffington Post consulted with several dermatologists who explained that some of the compounds present in many lotions and moisturizers contain properties that can irritate your skin, making it harder for you to keep it hydrated. These range from fragrances to colors to elements that are really meant to be moisturizing but don’t do their effect when applied to sensitive or dry skin.

Here are 5 popular moisturizer ingredients you should be on the look out for.

Fragrances

Many products contain fragrances since that is understandably one of the main draws of skincare products. Rina Allawh, a dermatologist, explains that they are also common irritants, leading to rashes, burning and itching. They are also hard to avoid since many brands aren’t very honest with their product labels. She recommends keeping an eye out for an ingredient called “balsam of Peru.” “This ingredient typically contains a strong, rich and sweet odor,” she says.

Synthetic dyes and colors

Some FDA approved dyes like FD&C Yellow 6 are used on lotions, foods and cosmetics even though they can be harmful to your skin and health. “These colors can trigger allergies and irritation in the skin, and are suspected to be carcinogens,” says dermatologist Sonia Batra. “They are also banned in the European Union.”

Parabens

A lot has been said about parabens in recent years, causing a bit of a panic due to the connections that have been made with breast cancer. These preservatives prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast and mold on cosmetic products, yet they have estrogen mimicking properties.

Propylene glycol

This ingredient is very common in lotions and skin products because it contains very effective moisturizing properties. The problem is that, when applied to naturally sensitive or dry skin, it doesn’t do a good job. “Regular use of moisturizers containing this substance can lead to skin rashes, exacerbation of eczema and burning,” explains Allawh.

Lemon scents & ingredients

Despite the fact that lemons are natural and a beloved scent among most people, dermatologists consider them irritants due to their highly acidic nature. They are still delicious and healthy, just not on your skin.

More Proof That Marijuana Banking SAFE Act Is Dead

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell isn’t at all interested in helping forward the legal weed movement. Not one bit.

The cannabis industry is in a position where it must now abandon all hope that its precious marijuana banking bill (SAFE Act) is going to make it through Congress before the end of the year.

Many were holding on to a smidgen of faith that, regardless of whether the Republican-dominated Senate, and specifically Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, wanted to help further the progress of legal marijuana in the United States, their commitment to helping the industrial hemp trade get a fair shake would be enough to guarantee its passage. However, the system found a way to throw hemp farmers a bone without so much as giving legal weed slingers the time of day.

The SAFE Act was designed to give banks permission to do business with the cannabis trade. Nothing more. Although the marijuana sector is excited about the implications of the measure and what it means for the state-by-state legalization model that has been building momentum for the past several years, the language really only makes financial institutions prosecution proof. It would no longer allow the DEA and the FBI to swoop in and charge them for money laundering because they accepted money from a business sector that sells this Schedule I dangerous drug.

The only problem was that as soon as the Democratic-controlled House approved the bill earlier this year, there wasn’t a chance of it getting any floor time in the Senate. McConnell, the gatekeeper to the upper chamber, isn’t at all interested in helping forward the legal weed movement. Not one bit. Furthermore, in spite of the cause, he is less than thrilled about assisting Democrats in spotlighting their agenda. So, the SAFE Act, by all accounts, was a dead issue from the time it landed there. Still, some believed that it might see some consideration because of hemp.

RELATED: The MORE Act Legalizing Marijuana Is Doomed — Here’s Why

Last year, McConnell championed a measure that eventually led to the re-legalization of industrial hemp production in the United States. This deal, which was packaged in a broader Farm Bill, was signed sealed and delivered by President Trump at the end of 2018. But in spite of this move, hemp producers have continued to experience hassles this year when trying to establish banking services. Some cannabis industry folks thought that the lack of banking access for the hemp trade might prompt McConnell to take a closer look at the SAFE Act and bring it up for a vote.

But instead, McConnell simply urged federal regulators to issue some type of guidance to put the banking industry at ease about the hemp trade. “Hemp farmers and businesses should be treated just like any other agricultural businesses and not discriminated against,” McConnell wrote in a joint statement with Senator Ron Wyden. But nothing immediately came from this call to action.

However, that changed this week when financial regulators eliminated a pesky requirement that made banks leery of hemp. Now, financial institutions are no longer required to file suspicious activity claims against hemp customers. It is a big win for legal hemp. “Today’s multiagency announcement represents continued progress as we work to ensure hemp is treated just like any other legal agricultural commodity,” Senator McConnell said, according to Hemp Industry Daily

Although a concrete law through the passing of the SAFE Act would ensure better protections, the guidance from FinCEN, the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, is more than enough to put banks at ease. Therefore, there is going to be less pressure for the Senate to take action on the SAFE Act just to help hemp farmers finally be revered as legitimate agricultural businesses.

And this is just another reason that the SAFE Act will continue to collect dust in the upper chamber for the rest of 2019 and beyond. In fact, it is safe to say that the measure is as good as dead.

5 Common Online Dating Mistakes You Should Avoid

Finding a real connection through a dating app is not as easy as advertised. Here are 5 mistakes you should avoid.

Nowadays, dating has basically become online dating. While people still meet in bars, concerts, and through friends, these instances are becoming a rarity. Although there’s nothing wrong with this new approach, for some, meeting people virtually creates an intimidating environment.

Dating apps make it much easier to meet new people, but the variety it provides and the possibilities of instant sex make intimacy and meaningful relationships challenging to cultivate.

No matter your intentions, whether you’re looking for true love or just someone to have a good time with, here are some basic mistakes you should avoid while swiping.

Obsessing over photos

Photos are the biggest determinant of whether or not you’ll swipe right or left. Although a decent bio could sway your opinion, 80 percent of your decision will rely on how attractive you find this person. We do the same while looking for partners in our real lives, only that photos are much more limiting and avoid telling the whole story. People might be incredibly photogenic and disappoint you when you meet with them in real life, or they could have mediocre photos and have great charisma once you speak to them.

Worrying over their interests

Dating app bios are some of the most complicated things out there, with people embellishing their interests and personal lives to an almost laughable degree. While there’s obviously people who choose to be honest, take all of this personal information with a grain of salt and choose to get to know them better once you’re in person. If you’ve never met, it’s too early to say whether or not you’ll enjoy hanging out with them.

Believing you’re together after going out a few times

Dating apps bring people together of different backgrounds and social groups. This is one of the perks and drawbacks of these apps, meaning that you’ll never know what someone’s intentions are unless you ask them outright.

Lying about your interests

While there’s nothing wrong with adding a few embellishments here and there, painting yourself as more active and, I don’t know, social, there’s a difference between that and just plainly stating things that aren’t true. Aside from the fact that lying is a stressful way to begin any date, it might also facilitate meetings with people with who you share nothing in common with.

Not leaving your comfort zone

If you only swipe right with people who fit a certain standard and who follow the same patterns, you’ll be limiting your dating prospects. Try to read between the lines of someone’s profile, and follow through if you’re curious. The worst thing that could happen is just a bad date.

The FDA’s Stance On CBD Is Confusing Consumers

An overwhelming majority of Americans believe CBD products fall under FDA regulations, but those regulations don’t exist.

The cannabis industry has waited all year for the Food and Drug Administration’s official ruling and regulations on products containing cannabidiol, or CBD. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp, which created a loophole for hemp-derived CBD products. Under the legislation, CBD products existed under a gray area where stores could sell them, but no official regulation existed, which is causing consumer confusion.

About one in three Americans have used CBD products, but it appears the majority of the nation remains unaware of this conundrum. According to a recent Grocery Manufacturer Association survey, 76% of Americans believe CBD products fall under federal safety regulations, unaware no such regulations exist. Of the 2,056 participants in the survey, another 16% weren’t sure if CBD was subject to FDA oversight.

RELATED: CBD Is Positively Changing People’s Perspectives On Marijuana

That adds up to a whopping 92% of consumers who have no idea what the FDA is or isn’t doing around CBD products.

“While more than six-in-ten Americans (62%) have heard about CBD, most of these consumers are uncertain or mistaken about what CBD actually is, what it does and whether all products made with CBD are safe to consume,” the study’s authors wrote.

Meanwhile, the FDA released a report this week to tell Americans the organization has little to no answers with regards to CBD. Instead, the FDA reminded us they only approved one CBD product, Epidiolex, which is used to treat two rare forms of epilepsy. Instead, the FDA warned potential users that “CBD has the potential to harm you, and harm can happen even before you become aware of it.”

The FDA added that “CBD can cause liver injury” as well as “affect the metabolism of other drugs.”

Due to the lack of any regulation around CBD products, Ellipse Analytics found earlier this year that 45% of the 250 top-selling CBD products contained detectable levels of THC. That, in part, explains why CBD might cause you to fail a drug test. Earlier this year, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pushed the FDA to expedite the process of creating regulations around CBD products. When meeting last month with Stephen Hahn, the nominee to take over as FDA commissioner, McConnel again pressed about CBD and hemp.

“I look forward to working closely with Dr. Hahn on several important issues for Kentucky,” McConnell said in a statement. “As Senate Majority Leader, I consistently work with my colleagues in the Trump administration to advance Kentucky’s priorities. Like many Kentuckians who are taking advantage of hemp’s legalization, I am eager for FDA’s plans to create certainty for CBD products.

Are Grow Systems Like Seedo The Next Big Thing Or Just Hype?

While growing primo buds isn’t uncharted territory, growing quality weed still takes more effort and knowledge than most consumers have the time and aptitude to invest in.

As laws surrounding the consumption and cultivation of marijuana have relaxed, many canna-preneurs have emerged to stake a claim in the burgeoning legal weed business, including tech startups aiming to make homegrown marijuana as simple as clicking a few boxes and handing over a credit card, including Israeli-based firm Seedo.

The promise is certainly alluring; while growing primo buds isn’t uncharted territory, growing quality weed still takes more effort and knowledge than most consumers have the time and aptitude to invest in, despite interest in grow-your-own highs.

The dream of an all-in-one, set-it-and-forget-it mini-grow system is one certainly worth chasing, and while your stoner friend had enough time on their hands to tend to their herb, people with things like careers and families are ready to trade money for expertise and convenience. Aspiring lazy green thumbs may actually be at a bigger disadvantage than bud growers of yore, as capital invested in these startups have clearly gone into funding marketing like SEO and online reputation management which cast a heavy haze on the veracity of online research.

RELATED: Home Brew Or Home Marijuana Cultivation: Which Is More Cost Effective?

Shallow digging into Seedo and their competitors will result in mostly PR releases and positive references to products that have only just started to ship with many pre-orders still waiting for fulfillment. Those seeking a more balanced view would have to look past big name endorsements like Snoop Dogg’s and messed with Google results, and dig deep into the less traveled threads on message boards and Reddit posts to see beyond the search engine manipulations for a more balanced appraisal.

Are these next-gen grow systems that promise plug-and-play marijuana worth the investment? It’s probably too early to know, as both the technology behind the products and the rules around growing are still in early days. Traditional grow setups are tried-and-true, and communities devoted to home grow have sprouted more and more as attitudes around cannabis consumption relax.

Those interested in DIY would perhaps be better served investing time in understanding how to grow weed indoors in order to better evaluate the promises made by gilded tongued marketers with big advertising warchests.

Ultimately, celebrity endorsements and online strategies are no substitute for an informed consumer. Investing in nascent technology can result in having the next big game changer like the iPhone or a Juicero-like reminder to not chase every grand promise made by smooth-talking tech entrepreneurs.

The Most Discussed Topics On Tinder In 2019

While millennials chose to gush about traveling this past year, younger generations were more likely to discuss their missions and political affiliations.

There’s not one aspect of our lives that isn’t dominated by heated political talk, not even Tinder. Recently the dating app, like many other companies, released a summary of their year, discussing how people are interacting through their app, including the most talked about politicians.

The Year in Swipe – What 2019 Taught Us About the Future of Dating highlights how important politics have become for Tinder users in recent years, a topic that unites or separates potential matches.

“Relationship pairings are about value systems,” Dr. Katherine Hertlein, a professor of the Couple and Family Therapy program at the University of Nevada, told Mashable. “One way to evaluate the value system of another is through knowledge of an examination of their political stance.”

Among the many interesting discoveries Tinder made with its review is the fact that while millennials chose to gush about traveling, younger generations were more likely to discuss their missions and political affiliations.

Members of the app are much more vocal about climate change, gun control and social justice when compared to previous years.

Among the most mentioned politicians are Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, Elizabeth Warren and Greta Thunberg. The app makes no distinction on whether users actually supported said politicians, but knowing that Gen Z makes up the biggest bulk of Tinder, you can make an educated guess on who stands where.

RELATED: Dating Apps Are Sponsoring Frat Parties Now

Other fun bits of information Tinder revealed include the fact that the facepalm emoji represented everyone’s feelings, that Lizzo and the reunion of the Jonas Brothers were one of the most breached topics of discussions, and that 30% more users were open to dating all genders when compared to previous years.

Next year is an election year, which means that all of this political talk is heavily influenced by the fact that our stress is at an all time high. Honestly, it’s kind of felt this way since 2016.

These Three US Cities Smoke More Marijuana Than Tobacco

0

These are the only three American cities where residents smoke more cannabis than nicotine.

For a portrait of what marijuana normalization resembles, look no farther than Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland. Those are the only three American cities where residents smoke more cannabis than nicotine, according to analytics firm Nielsen.

In the past 30 days, more than 300,000 Seattle residents ages 18 and older have consumed marijuana products. That accounts for about 17% of the adult population within the city, reports The Seattle Times. That outpaces use of nicotine or tobacco products, which includes cigarettes and nicotine vaping devices. Around 16% of Seattle adults reported using nicotine products in the past 30 days.

RELATED: How To Naturally Beat Nicotine Addiction With Cannabis

Portland, OR, meanwhile, rates as the city with the largest number of adult cannabis users. Approximately 20% of Portland adults have recently consumed marijuana products, but only 19% of them have recently used nicotine products. Las Vegas (18%) and Denver (18%) follow Portland for the highest number of cannabis users, with Seattle taking fourth place. San Francisco, by the way, is the only other American city where adults use more marijuana (16%) than nicotine (13%).

Nielsen polled more than 200,000 American adults nationally between January 2018 to May 2019 for the survey. They did not ask any participants if they were using legal medical marijuana products, or if they had obtained their marijuana through the black market.

RELATED: Is San Francisco The Most Weed Friendly City In The US?

As you likely surmised, the cities with the highest percentage of marijuana users all come from states with expansive adult-use cannabis legalization and regulation. However, there is one city where that wasn’t the case — Albuquerque-Santa Fe.

According to Nielsen, 14% of the city’s adult population consumes marijuana products, which ranks it eighth among 70 metro areas. That means more adults in the Albuquerque-Santa Fe area use marijuana than areas where it’s legal, such as Spokane, WA, where only 12% of adults reported recent marijuana use.

How To Use Marijuana On The DL When You’re Home For The Holidays

Stirring up the munchies before a big feast, puffing on some frosty buds during winter shindigs, or even taking a relaxing toke during the interim isn’t easy for everyone.

It seems like every year we start celebrating the holidays earlier. Get togethers with loved ones become the hallmarks of the season, as do extended stays with family.

Stirring up the munchies before a big feast, puffing on some frosty buds during winter shindigs, or even taking a relaxing toke during the interim isn’t easy for everyone. No matter the size of the gathering, there always seems to be someone pinching a cheek or stopping you to talk about the weather. But if you can manage to sneak in a sesh, here’s how to do it on the down-low:

Vape Pens

Vape pens are about as stealthy as you can get because, for the most part, they’re odorless. Test your wax or prefilled cart beforehand with a trusty, sober friend to make sure there’s no lingering aroma and then plan your escapes. If you can’t “go out to the car for a minute” or take a short walk, vaping in the bathroom is your old school go-to. It’s not glamorous, but blowing a lungful into the toilet while it flushes is sure to erase vapor from the room and keep you in good graces.

Edibles

Even stealthier than vape pens are edibles. With the platters of cookies floating around and other goodies abounding, munching on your own piece of heaven won’t seem odd at all. A few things, though. First, make sure it’s an edible you’ve tried before so you can gauge your coming high. Second, no matter how Grinch-y you’re feeling, don’t overdo it. Having red slits for eyes and staring into Uncle Larry’s liver spots makes it so you might as well have broken out the peace pipe in the middle of dinner. Try a 10 or 20 mg dose to simply sparkle up the room and give you some extra munchies for the feasting.

Pinner Joints

If you are able to get out of the house and go for a wintery stroll, having a few pinners rolled up and ready to go will have you taking breaks throughout the days. A three minute joint is perfect for your absence going unnoticed. And if it is noticed, it’s excusable. However, from the purps to the diesels, even a little joint is going to make a loud appearance. Prepare yourself ahead of time with a sample size perfume or cologne to carry and when you get back inside go straight to the bathroom and rinse your face and hands off to further eliminate any bouquet of evidence.

Never Admit To Police You’ve Been Smoking Marijuana

0

While marijuana is no longer bound by total prohibition, police are still finding ways to drag people to jail for using this stuff. And sometimes, these legal troubles are brought on by a person’s own admission.

Now that marijuana is legal in more spots across the United States, people seem to have this idea that it’s okay to be all willy-nilly about their pot use. Some believe that legalization means there are no longer any rules associated with this plant, so they throw caution to the wind when it comes to leaving their homes with weed. And that can spell disaster in some cases, especially with any situation involving a pot consumer and the police.

While marijuana is no longer bound by total prohibition, the boys in blue are still finding ways to drag people to jail for using this stuff. And sometimes, these legal troubles are brought on by a person’s own admission.

Earlier this week, just hours after Michigan officially launched its retail pot market for adults 21 and older, the Detroit News reported that a motorist crashed into a state police vehicle. The cause of the accident was the result of hazardous road conditions, yet, when grilled on the matter, the driver told officers that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day. “He admitted to smoking marijuana (before) the incident,” State Police Lieutenant Sarah Krebs told the news source. That’s all the evidence of impairment that the cops needed to drag this poor soul straight to jail.

RELATED: How To Keep Police From Searching Your Vehicle For Weed

The report indicates that the motorist was “driving too fast for road conditions,” which inadvertently caused the vehicle to spin out of control and ram into a police cruiser along Interstate 75. In the event of a nasty crash (even one where there are no injuries), it is typical for police to investigate the matter to see if any type of impairment may have been the cause. If they suspect that a motorist is under the influence of alcohol, they take steps to either confirm or eliminate that suspicion from the equation. A breathalyzer is all police really need to come to this conclusion.

Police Ramping Up

But now that marijuana is legal, law enforcement in these jurisdictions are hellbent on pinning accidents on stoned driving. Police officers in Illinois are already ramping up their efforts to bust high drivers ahead of the January launch of the state’s recreational marijuana market. Only the cops do not have the appropriate roadside tools (there’s no breathalyzer for marijuana) to prove that someone has actually been smoking weed.

Suspects must undergo a blood test before this determination can be made. And a motorist would have to be really high (bloodshot eyes, reeking of weed and displaying bizarre behaviors) before the cops would ever get serious about pressing the issue.

RELATED: Get Busted Driving With Marijuana And You May Lose Your Vehicle

Even if you have been smoking marijuana before taking a cruise, never admit that to police. Because if you do, the cops will surely arrest you, take you in for a blood test, charge you with driving under the influence of drugs (DUID), and you will sit in the county jail until you can bail out. Your admission of guilt will make it difficult to fight your case in court, and a judge will likely convict you of DUID.

From there, you’ll lose your driver’s license and have to endure drug classes and jump through a bunch of other hoops to get it back. No, no, no. Make the police work for it. No matter how it shakes out, your silence will still give you a better chance at beating the charge in court. This is because there are no proven methods for determining marijuana impairment. Police can only tell that you’ve used marijuana at some point. And that’s not enough to convict a person for DUID.

Legal experts in states where marijuana is no longer bound by prohibition say most of the stoned driving cases end up either dismissed or acquitted because the prosecution cannot prove impairment.

“You’ll see in police reports that they’ll have the watery eyes and the smell of marijuana,” which “helps the DA, but at the same time there is no measurable amount and you don’t know whether or not a person is actually impaired,” California defense attorney Robert Shatzco told KRON4. “We’re helping our clients to either get the cases dismissed or get them reduced down to a lesser charge.”

So, stop telling on yourselves.
